Chapter 26 – Fernanda
We were all gathered in the large kitchen at my family’s old house. Frida, Rachel, and I were meeting with Ms. Jackie, who had arrived with my uncle and priest, Father Fred. Much to my shock but no one else seemed to be surprised by them arriving together. Violet had chosen to stay with Miriam, and it was now blatantly obvious to me that she was avoiding my uncle. Their situation was getting the better of my curiosity and I now wanted to know what was going on between them.
Miriam was still only healing like a human. It was slow and she was in a lot of pain. Her casts were now getting extremely uncomfortable for her, since we had to move her to avoid bedsores or the possibility of blood clots. She was able to stomach some soups but I had to keep her on pain meds so
