Ikaika POV
I’m so overwhelmed. This new uncle of ours just added another s**t load of unknowns to our lives and, frankly, he couldn’t have chosen a worst time for a family reunion.
I am curious about him, but seeing my dad, Alaric’s reaction to him arriving set off a ton of red flags. Ones that stirred my wolf and made me uneasy. I wanted to stay to meet and greet, but I had obligations and was summoned to return home.
Tobias had given Kaleo and I a lavaliere. A pendent of sorts to travel home. He was limited on how much he could allow us to travel through portals. For right now, it is home and wherever he is. Having needed to use his own juju to make it, it answered him. None the less, I was appreciative. The thought of two-three-four hours' of driving was not tolerable right now.
Kaleo and I returned home after being mind linked. We chose to return to our old treehouse, praying to our grandmother that no one would see and luckily, the coast was clear.
We tidied ourselves up, Kaleo going in search of his mate that he had left in the care of Wehi and Lena. Kealoha and Naomi’s chamber omega’s.
I, however, was being repeatedly called to my mother and father's office. I grudgingly made my way to the office. I entered as I didn’t feel the need to knock any longer, as soon it would all be mine.
As I do, I see an Alpha sitting with my father and mother, talking under their breaths. “Son, come.” I roll my eyes but do as I’m told. “This is Alpha Hau(how). He is Alpha of the Malama(muh-luh-muh) pack, several miles north east of us.”
I extended my welcome, greeting him with respect. “Hello alpha. Pleasure to meet you.” He bows, “Young prince. The pleasure is mine.” My parents and the Alpha fell into small talk, I myself did not really participate in the back and forth.
“Son, we have a proposal.” I quirked my eyebrow, “what kind of proposal?” My hackles began to stand as Nui sensed something. “Alpha Hau here has offered his very beautiful and educated daughter to be your chosen mate.”
I think I forgot to blink. My entire being rattled with anger. “Ikaika?” My mother asked, a warning in her tone. “How dare you two make such a decision and think I’ll be okay with it. I have a mate!”
My mother was heard taking in a sharp breath. Alpha Hau bowed as my aura had now pulsated out, filling every ounce of space around me. “You found your mate? When? Why haven’t you said anything?” My mother tried, but I was still pissed that they thought that this was okay. I pulsed another aura of fury, this time aiming at my parents.
“Son. Stop.” I shook my head in defiance, “it’s not enough that you lost, no let me rephrase that, you casted Naomi out, or have you forgotten? Have you also forgotten that you lost the respect of Kealoha? You lost your daughters, and now you seek to lose your one heir to the throne?”
My mother turned her head, knowing the words I spoke rang loud and true. “Ikaika, DO NOT make me command you!” I sneered, “go ahead. See what happens.” My mother stood abruptly, “Dom, no!”
My father eyed me with both disappointment as well as shame as I had just challenged him in front of an Alpha.
“Alpha Hau, please. May you give us a minute.” He bowed, eyeing me with regard. As he should. I knew him. He was a greedy old bastard who only had one thing in mind, taking part in being part of the royal family, to snake his way into the council and our riches.
As the door shut behind the Alpha, I was hit with a fist across my face. I at first was struck with surprise, and then sadness. In not all my years have my parents physically hit us.
I tilted my chin up, letting a challenging smirk fill my face. “Ah-there he is.” I said with rancor. “The big bad Alpha who once ruled with a blackened heart.”
His eyes shifted wildly, his eyes going to and from me and his fist as a trickle of blood traveled down my chin. His stance faltered, realizing what he'd done. “Oh, don’t feel remorse now. What I got was a drop in the bucket compared to what you’ve done to my sisters.”
My mother's sobs were evident, but I paid no mind to her for she was just as evil as my father. “Oh mother, don’t feel saddened. As the gifted daughter of the moon goddess, shouldn’t you be higher than everyone else? Shouldn’t you ignore the cries of your children who pleaded for your help? Oh wait, that’s right you have.”
I saw it coming from a mile away, but this time, I wasn’t the one to stop it, it was Kaleo and Kealoha. “No father, I will not have this.” Kealoha’s aura was red.
“You call yourself a king? And you mother a queen?” Kaleo stepped towards my father, eyeing him with just as much rancor as I felt.
“I held you on the highest pedal stool. See you more than just a father or a king. You were my hero. But this, you, I don’t know who you are.” Kaleo shut his eyes and let his powers flow. I joined him and so did Kealoha.
The three of us together, hands joined in union, took control of the situation. My mother pleaded as we forged an invisible cell around their office. Not even her magic could break its bounds. She cried out as she felt our powers suffocate hers.
Just then, mother's mother, the moon goddess herself, appeared, along side her grandfather Sai. A look of sadness, anger, disappointment and shame was written in their eyes. “You have shamed me, my daughter. You’ve both taken all that I and your godparents have blessed you with and turned against your own children. Your own species. I won’t have it.” Her palms then glowed a vibrant yellow.
“Mother?” My mother cried as we watched tendrils of her essence being pulled from her. “Until you find yourself, I, the moon goddess, mother of all wolves, will take your powers, my daughter.. Your wolf will come with me as well as you have mistreated Malie recently.” With one last pull, I watched as my mother's wolf willingly left my mother’s vessel.
“Hold on.” My grandfather Sai looked at my mother and father, as if looking for something. But it seems he didn’t and just nodded to my grandmother to do what she came here to do.
My father was seething, his eyes darker than the darkest part of hell. “As for you? You have shamed your family's name. Be ready for when your mothers arrive, you will wish you dealt with me instead.” Again, her palms glowed that vibrant yellow and we watched his magic and his wolf leave his body willingly.
Both my mother and father fell to the floor unconscious. “I am so sorry my grandchildren. You all have enough to worry about and your parents shouldn’t be one of them. It is supposed to be the other way around.” She sighed, my grandfather placing a kiss on her temple.
“Why did you ask me to pause earlier?” He shook his head. “I thought I felt or saw...either a spell of some sort or like a second mind within hers. As if someone had channeled themselves. But I looked, there was nothing.” He shook his head almost unsure.
Just then, the office doors opened and in walked my grandmothers, Nalani, Nohea and Sage. All of them with a very disgruntled look.
Totally ignoring my parents, they all opened their arms, “My babies, come.” Grandma Anela let us go and all three of us ran into the arms of our grandmothers. Basking in real, unfiltered, unaltered love.
“They’ll feel like absolute s**t when they wake up. Give them hell.” Grandma Anela spoke to the rest of the group. The grandmothers all nodded.
“Where is your sister Naomi?” And as if she knew, out of a portal came Naomi. She ran into our grandmother Sage's arms and stayed there. None of us knew why, but they had a connection like no other. “Ssshh-it’s okay.” Grandma Sage cooed a crying Naomi.
My grandmother Nalani looked over to where our father Dom and mother Makana lay and sighed. Grandma Nalani’s eyes hazed over and not long after, four large guards entered. “Your magic, will it hold?” She turned to Kaleo, Kealoha and I.
“Yes grandma. This magic was shown to us by papa Sai. It’ll hold.” She nodded and, like the Luna she is, she commanded the guards, “All that is seen and heard here, you four will not speak a word of it. I command you to keep our secrets.” The guards all bowed, as a heavy command was placed over them.
“You will guard this office at all times. No one is allowed into this room without my clearance.” All in cadence they replied, “ Yes, Luna. What of sustenance?” She nodded, “we’ll take care of that. For now, all important matters will go through me and Luna Nohea and we will delegate who does what. Your duty is to protect your king and queen. Even from themselves. Understood?” The four guards bowed once more before taking their leave to guard the office entrance.
The room fell silent, and everyone's eyes were now aiming at me. But then, I heard a grunt of some sort, then a groan from behind me.
Dad Dom stood looking absolutely defeated. His stature lacking of confidence. He had dark circles around his eyes and everyone could feel his grief. “What happened?” He asked, “my wolf? Where is Mana?” His panic began to surface as his memories seemed to have left him.
“Grandma took your title and Mana,” I said softly. His eyes shifted around the room, searching for any other truth than that, but none came and he crumbled to his knees. “Why don’t I remember?”
Everyone looked at each other confused about his words. “What do you mean you don’t remember?” Grandma Nalani snapped. “You and Makana had turned against your whole f*cking family, Dom. Maika, Alaric, including your children.”
Again, dad, Dom's eyes searched everyone's eyes and when the truth hit, he silently sobbed. “I don’t remember. Nothing makes sense.”
Grandma Nalani sighed, “What do you remember?”
We all watched as he searched his mind, “the triplets, their sixteenth birthday. It was merry. It was grand. Kealoha found her mate. Then......” a look of regret filled him, “Nahe, Nanea, they betrayed us.”
Everyone put their own input in, filling in the blank spots of his memory when my mother began to stir. It didn’t take long for a loud cry to leave her mouth when she woke, “Why did they do this? Why?”
I had called for my Dad and Alaric, linking them to what had happened thus far. To say they weren’t happy was a complete understatement. When they arrived, with them came Kahi, Naomi, her mates, Tobias and Blake; Christian, Lia and Devon.
“Makana, my Love, what are you talking about?” Dad Maika soothingly asked, having heard the conversation as I opened my mind link. “Nahe. I remember. After they vanished, Nahe and Nanea came to me, asking for forgiveness, but I refused them and pleaded for them to come with me to be tried for their crimes. But-but, uuuuggh! Why is it all blurry?”
I sighed, not fully understanding what was going on. Apparently, my sigh had caught my mother's attention and when she looked towards me, behind me stood Kaleo, Kealoha, Naomi and Kahi.
Her eyes filled with fresh tears as her body shook with grief. “I’m so sorry.” Were the only words we got when her eyes rolled and she lost consciousness.
Grandma Sage walked over to her, assessing her quickly. “She’s fine.” I’ve rarely seen her upset, so to see her with no sympathy for my mother was very weird. “ She and him, will stay put. I don’t care what they claim.” Her anger was very obvious.
“Mother?” Dad Dom asked grandma Nalani. She walked to him, just as we thought she was going to hug him, her hand flew connected to his cheek. “You have no idea how badly I want to punish you.” She seethed.
“We will be investigating you both, Dom. Your actions of late have been a disgrace to our family and the kingdom. Until we find the truth, you two will be under house arrest until further notice. Those you see here are the only people you will see. No one else is permitted.”
Grandma Nalani was a bad a*s. Her Luna aura was crazy strong. “Now sit, and shut up!” She ordered my dad. “Harper? Harley?”
I didn’t even see them come in. “Yes aunty?” Grandma Nalani smiled a sweet loving smile, “check on your aunt Makana. See that she is well.” They did and not a minute later they reported. “She’s in shock. Her consciousness should return in the next hour or so. Other than that, we should get her checked. She-uh---um, she’ll need prenatal care.”
The silence that filled the room was deafening. “What?” All three of my fathers said at once. “Um-the queen is pregnant uncles.” No one said a word, no one moved a muscle.
It was my father, Alaric, though, who walked to my mother, lifting her in his arms. He placed a kiss on her forehead and placed her on the couch, covering her with a blanket. “I am still plenty angry with you both. You both have a lot of repentance to do. But, she carries our child and I will not turn my back on her. Or us.”
Dad Dom nodded, “for what it’s worth, I’m sorry. I don’t remember what I’ve done. But when I find out who tampered with my family and my life, they will not survive to tell the tale.”
It was five in the early evening, and I was beyond exhausted, as if it was late evening.
I met with Alpha Hau and let him know as gently as I could muster, that whatever deal he was about to make was no longer available. He left huffing and puffing, but I didn’t care.
I returned in time to catch my grandmother Nalani speaking to my dads. “Alaric, Maika, I know there is a lot going on, but tomorrow we will need to sit and discuss the ruling of the kingdom. With Makana and Dom....temporarily laid off, we’ll need you to make a decision as soon as possible if you two will take on the duties, or let your children. The call is up to you four still, but a decision is needed. The council is already giving me a f*cking headache about what just happened with Makana and Dom.”
My three fathers nodded, Dad Dom’s head in his hands, his eyes unable to focus. “My vote is to give it to Ikaika and Kaleo.” Everyone’s head shot to my Dad Dom. “I know my words mean nil, but I feel it is time he takes his throne. He and Kaleo. If Kealoha feels it, she will be a advisor.”
Dad Maika and Dad Alaric nodded, staring, and Kaleo, Kealoha and I. “Tomorrow is a new day. But, your father is right. If I didn’t have a situation to deal with back at my Coven, you’d be crowned this very moment. However, tomorrow, if you feel the same brother?” Dad Alaric turned to Dad Maika, “I’ve been waiting for the day to crown you three. As you said Brother, if not for the mountain of chaos.." he sighed, "We'll do it...tomorrow. Congratulations. Dad couldn’t be more confident about passing the baton to you three.”
Neither Kaleo, Kealoha nor I said anything. I know I was too exhausted to accept or deny it. So I just nodded.
Kealoha, Naomi, Lia, along with their mates, my fathers, Alaric and Maika returned to the coven. Still having to deal with the man who had arrived.
Kaleo retreated to his chambers. As did I. The others all went wherever they did. My grandmother agreed to stay with my mother and father, Dom. And frankly, at this point, I didn’t care.
I unlocked my bedroom door and entered. Immediately, I was swallowed whole by Kira’s scent. There were layers and layers of beautiful sandal wood and tuberose. I let all of my frustrations, stresses, aches and pains fall off of me, leaving them at the door where I’ll pick them up tomorrow.
“Ikaika? Is that you?” I started to undress, wanting nothing more than a hot shower. “Yeah, I’m going to shower.” I walked in and was taken back by the sight before me. Clad in nothing but water dripping down her curves, was Kira, as she was exiting the tub.
“Hey, wait!” I gulped, mid step, stopping. She scrambled to reach for her robe, then in slow motion she began slipping. Before she hit the hard granite floors, I caught her and landed with her on top of me with a thud.
“Oh my god. I’m sorry. Wait.” She went to stand but lost her footing again as the bathroom walls and floors had become slick with a lot of condensation. She fell on me, her very impressive sized breast pressing on my chest.
“Stop, will you?” I groaned, trying to find my bearings before I moved. It was only then that she seemed to notice our not-so covered bodies and her whole face turned dark. “I’m not ashamed.” I laughed, taking in her embarrassment.
Kira tried to move, but I held her in place, as she tried to cover her breast with one arm and hold her nakedness a part of my nakedness'. “Don’t. You’re mine and I am yours. I’m not saying we need to do anything, so don’t look at me like that.”
I chuckled, “I’m just saying eventually we were going to see and feel each others bodies. There’s no shame in it.” She rolled her eyes, gave up and let her breast go. Now using that arm to prop herself up to look at me in the eyes.
“I am not ashamed of my body, I’m actually quite proud of it. It’s just I was taken by surprise.” She laughed, putting her head down. “Why do you have to be so f*****g hot? Uggh, c’mon let me up.” In a smooth motion I stood and pulled her up with me.
I whistled and twirled her, as she was a bit more comfortable now n***d before me. “You’ve filled out nice Kira.” I whistled, twirling her again, making sure I got a good sight. Her face shied again, causing me to laugh. “Did you finish showering?” She shook her head no, “I was going too, but I heard the door close and wasn’t sure if it was you or your omega.”
I shrugged, “well you can join me. If you want. I promise to be a perfect gentleman.” She didn’t give me an answer other than walk to the shower, turning the hot water jets on and jump in. I chuckled and hopped in with her.
And like an old married couple, we talked like we’ve showered together a thousand times. “How was your day?” I grunted, “ooh that bad huh?”
“Yeah, ooh-um-I have something to tell you.” She waited as I fumbled with my thoughts. “Um-I’d like to formally congratulate you?” She raised her eyebrow, “for what?” I rubbed my face, then gulped, hoping and praying for the best outcome. “I, Ikaika Koa, accept you, Kira as my mate and as of tomorrow, my Luna Queen.”
