Being There

Introducing Lia POV Five months prior..... “Damn Lia, you made all my dreams come true.” Luke moans as he takes my purity. And that was that. I was no longer a square virgin. Was the experience all it was hyped out to be, eh-I guess? It felt good after the initial pain, but for some reason, expected...more out of the experience. “When can we hook up again?” Luke asks as we both get our clothes situated. “Uh-no offense but this was a one-time thing, Luke.” He scrunches his nose and a look of rejection crosses his eyes. “Look, we both know that I wasn’t looking for a relationship. Hell, you’re a human Luke. You know what I am, right?” He nods but still looked utterly disappointed. “s*x. Is that all you looking for?” I nod at his words, waiting to see how he replies, and when he doesn’t I couldn’t help but feel bad. “Okay. If that’s all you want, then I’ll oblige. I’m at your service. Anytime, any day. Call me.” He smirks a devilishly handsome smile. He crosses the few steps, closing the space between us, and gives me a knee-weakening kiss, then turns and walks out of his bedroom. Luke was sexy as f*ck. For a human, his stature was impressive. His tanned skin and green eyes did wonders to a woman's nether region alone. Add his sculpted body, and Mmmmm, his lips, f*ck the snack, he was a meal. We met by coincidence. Naomi and I were attending a human school to learn more about the human race and their ways when I bumped into him. Literally. I won't say it was instant attraction, but it was instant s****l tension between us. He was assigned to escort Naomi and me around the campus and at some point, it ended up just being Luke and me. We talked and talked like best friends. He was a damn good listener, that had me all up in my feelings at times. We continued seeing each other, even off campus and when I built up enough courage, I asked Luke for my first. He rejected me at first, saying I was too young, and that I should wait, which annoyed the hell out of me. I hated being told not to do something. Then I don’t know what changed. One day, he pounced on me. It was hot as hell when he dominated me and took control. Every receptor in my body screamed ‘YES!’ at his every touch, kiss, and movement. Since we were at the mall, in a men's bathroom stall, he cut the scene and grunted in displeasure. “Not here.” He said, clearly frustrated he started something in a not-so-charming location. “If we’re going to do this, I want you to be comfortable.” His eyes were closed as he spoke softly into my ears. It felt a little more intimate than I had wanted but, I appreciated the fact that he wanted me to be comfortable for my first time. “Okay. Where too?” His eyes shot open and a swirl of desire to take me was evident in his eyes. “Let’s go.” he pulled me by my waist and we both darted out the back entrance of the mall to his car. I noticed a twitch in his jaw as we drove. He was tense, he looked deep in thought and I felt a twinge of guilt. Did he care that much that this was unnerving him? I thought. I reached for his hand that was placed on the shifter of his car and when he jumped at my touch, I pulled my hand away. “Luke? Are you okay?” He looks out the window and sighs, “I-I just wish you-you know what, never mind. I’m fine. Nervous that’s all.” I smile at him and he gives me the grin that had me swooning over him since we met. We arrived at his house in what felt like record time. “No one’s home. Parents are out of town, brother is working out of state.” He explains as we make our way in. It’s not the first time being here. He’s brought me here several times and every time, we came close to doing it, however, he’d always pull away just when I was hot and bothered to a point that I’d become frustrated and leave. He guided me to his room. Another place I've been to a few times. “I’m going to freshen up quick,” I say as I make my way to his bathroom. He nods, never making eye contact with me, causing me to question if he was wanting to do this. When I returned to his room, Luke was standing by his bedroom window, staring at the falling rain. “Hey.” I greet him. When he turned around, his eyes popped out of their sockets. “You-you like it?” I ask, a bit shy for I’ve never worn something so provocative. He gulps and nods. I stood about ten feet from him, as silence filled the space between us. “Lia-“ Luke sighs, “are you sure?” he then asks. Without hesitation, I reply, “yes.” He nods and strolls to me. The experience, as I said, was memorable, but for whatever reason, let it be me wanting sparks to fly or I don’t know, I just expected something more. He held his end by answering my every beck and call when I got a bit restless. Naomi thought I was sleeping with all different dudes, but in reality, it has only been Luke. My first and only. He grew on me. He never overstepped our arrangement, never asking for more in return which both irritated me and had me appreciating him at the same time. Every time I’d flirt with other guys, I’d watch his reaction and sadly he’d just ignore me. What the hell? Yet when I see him flirting with another girl, my hackles rise. Jealousy doesn’t swarm it fully engulfs my whole being. Ugggh! ********** Present day... Our lives have been turned upside down and inside out. If anyone said to me they understand, I’d scoff. We’re in such a state of denial right now, none of us is grasping the fact that Nahe and Nanea had violated our family's bond. The twins have always been....a handful. Always in the wind when it came to their doings and whereabouts. Now that I think about it, they have been the forgotten kids in some ways. I’m sure the Kings and queen are broken over everything that occurred. First Kealohalani’s mate and his entrance. Then Kealoha accepted him. And then.....my blood boils just thinking of it. Someone, hurt my sister. Threading carefully in all my following decisions will be key to seeking revenge on those who harmed Naomi. Nahe and Nanea are dead to me. Their lives void the second they decided to go against the family. My cousins and siblings all feel the same, including the Royal siblings, so when everyone can find their bearings in this chaotic mess, we’ll set a plan in motion. I’ve been at Naomi’s side the entire time since she’s fallen unconscious. It’s been three days now she’s lying here in the medical wing of the Royal Families floor. Three days of me badgering her about her hair as I comb it. Three days of me giving her s**t about her lack of attention to her nails and toenails. Only to be answered with silence. I had taken on the role of her nightly care, Blake her daily. As the rest of the family has tried to get in their time as well. Kahi, he’s been the most present. Never fully engaging, just keeping guard more. Ikaika and Kaleo have come in with Naomi’s favorite things. Her calming blanket, her Bose speaker, and her iPad. Playing a hellish amount of pop music always gave me a headache. Aunt Makana has been in here with Kealoha, Harley, and Harper, using their powers to heal Naomi and hopefully find her wolf. On the evening of the chaos, Sage disappeared. Tutu, Anela, or Selene, had left seeking answers as well. Seeing the panic in our Goddess's eyes caused a frenzy of panic amongst us all. Losing your wolf isn’t possible. Only the moon Goddess herself can fully take one wolf away. However, someone found some potion or poison more like it, that could. “Hey, want company?” I turn and see Devon, leaning on the door frame. I couldn’t help the smile that took over my lips. I couldn’t place it, but there’s a happiness that surrounds me when he’s near. I know, I’m not naive like Noami. I know he’s me, my mate. And I could tell he knew I was his as well. It’s just, that I wasn’t sure yet if I wanted one right now. “Yeah, sure.” I still reply, embracing the calm that he brought. “What you girls up to?” He asks taking a seat on the love seat, beside me. “Nothing, I just got done giving her a foot rub.” Devon smiles a gentle smile and looks over to Kahi who has stood at the window for hours now. Never once shifting a foot. “Nice. Do you want a break? How’s this....” Devon bends forward and grabs my legs, turning my lower body to him, and placing my legs in his lap. I chuckle but don’t resist. He soon removes my sandals and starts rubbing my feet. Heaven! Pure bliss right now is all I felt. He stared at me, as I closed my eyes enjoying the reprieve. “Good?” Devon asked, and all I could do was nod. “Thank you.” I finally reply and he chuckles. We sat in comfortable silence for goddess knows how long when he started rubbing up to my calves. An involuntary moan left my mouth and I slapped my hands over my mouth. When I turned to Devon his eyes were darker than usual. He didn’t have his wolf yet, but damn those eyes were speaking volumes. “Sorry,’ I shamefacedly expressed. Like someone threw ice-cold water on him, he shook it off and grinned. And holy-mother of the moon and all her glory. I knew he knew what had happened when his eyes shot to mine. We didn’t move, he stared at me and me at him. “Get a f*cking room.” My head whips to the voice I waited days to hear and without even paying attention scrambled to get up, hitting Devon in his nuts. “Oh s**t! Fudge! My bad.” And still took off towards Naomi. Not giving a s**t, I flew myself onto her, holding her tight to me. “Don’t ever do that to me again you b*itch,” I whisper as she softly giggles into my hair. I held on to her for what felt like hours when a throat cleared behind me. “Yeah, yeah....” I say, standing up and giving Blake space to be with his mate. Devon pulls me to him and without warning places a tender soft kiss on my lips. Was I surprised? Yes. Was I angry? Surprisingly no. Was I gonna go in for another? F*ck yes. I pulled his six-foot a*s closer and kissed him as I wanted to all these days. When we broke, I heard a series of ewws, and a gag or two. “I said get a b****y room,” Naomi shouted, hoarsely but she got her point across. “Fine. But don’t think you’re gonna get rid of me for long. I’ll be back and we can talk about those damn ugly nails of yours.” I flipped my hair, turned, grabbed Devon's hand, and exited Naomi's room, giving them their privacy. When I went to shut the door, Kahi was just exiting as well, a calmer, more comfortable look about him. He sees me eyeing him in question and he replies, “He’s good for her. Not that I don’t trust you or your abilities Lia, but if he’s not in there, I always will be.” I wanted to argue, to fight with him. But, I understood. His sisters betrayed Naomi. Betrayed the entire family. Right now he trusted no one. I was a bit hurt that he’d think I’d hurt her, but we are all fragile still in this whole situation. So, I nod and grab his hand, relaying that I understand. When he squeezes it in return, I let go and we go our separate ways. *********** Blake POV Three days of not seeing those beautiful eyes. Hearing her angelic voice. It’s been hell. Naomi losing her wolf hasn’t changed anything in the way how I feel about her. I refuse to let it. She is it. The only one I want and will always only want. Wolf or no wolf, she is my soul mate. For the majority, it was either Lia or I that took to Naomi’s daily care. Lia during the evenings and the days for me. The rest of the family would come in to let us get an hour's break here and there. However, I rarely took lunch anywhere else other than beside her. When Devon linked me that Naomi woke up, I ran so fast from the other side of the castle that I left a dust trail behind me. Hearing and seeing Lia and Omi’s interaction, warmed my heart. Lia is as good as a friend anyone could ever get. I clear my throat and wait. I smile a big smile when Lia turns, she scowls but gives me her sweet smile. She and Devon had a moment, and when Naomi spoke, angels sang. I couldn’t peel my eyes away from her. Being there, seeing her beautiful eyes. Hearing her voice. It's hard to explain the happiness that I felt. I didn’t even hear Kahi and the other two leave, and frankly, they could’ve still stood there, while I kissed her, which I did. She gasped as did I when we both still felt the sparks. “Wow.” Is all I was able to say. I stared at her face as her eyes remained closed after the impromptu kiss, her lips still puckered. I grazed my lips over here once more, eliciting a soft mewl from her. I wanted to be closer to her, I wanted her body melded to mine. So, I lifted her off her bed, securing her safely in my arms, took her seat, and placed her on my lap. She didn’t resist, she didn’t go stiff. She just melted into me. I held her like she held the air I needed to breathe. We sat there for a few minutes when she finally looked up at me. My fingers found their brain and gently caressed her cheek. “I accept you Naomi Koa as my mate,” I whisper and she pushes her cheek into my hand. Wetness filled my palm and I pulled her face to look at me. “Why are you crying, my love?” I ask confused. “You deserve someone worthy of you. A female with a wolf. One who isn’t broken or come from who Goddess knows where Blake. I am not enough to be a part of you. You deserve better than me.” I close my eyes, angry. Not at her, no, I could never be angry with her, but angry that her sisters had broken her to the core. “I am the sole person who says who and what I deserve. And I deserve you. As you are. I don’t care about a wolf, and neither does my wolf. You, you are ours. You are all that we want.” I wasn’t exactly sure what else to say. So I decided to show her. Lacing my right-hand fingers under her chin, I rub my thumb across her lower lip, causing her to close her eyes. “You feel that? It’s because we are still meant to be together. Our spark is deeper than a wolf bond. Our souls and spirit are destined to be bonded.” Gently I place my lips to hers and softly graze her lips with mine. The whole time, Naomi allowed me to show her how I truly feel about her. “Please...” She cries as I take her lips in much more hungrily. Once again eliciting a needy mewl. I break the kiss with pop and speak, “Now, I repeat, I, Blake Morrison, Alpha, and Omega-“she laughs, “accept you Naomi Koa, Princess of Wolves, as my Goddess-given mate.” She and I felt a surge in power tickle the air around us. It took her a few seconds longer than I had liked, but when she spoke, my heart and soul had become hers. “I, Naomi Koa, Princess of Wolves, accept you Blake Morrison as my Goddess-given mate.” Little zaps electrified the air between us as both of us brought our foreheads together. “On my life, I swear, to love you and everything you are,” I conclude my acceptance. When I opened my eyes, hers were holding so many emotions I couldn’t help but squeeze her to me. “Please. Don’t ever feel like you aren’t enough. I swear to you, I’ll always be here. For you, I’ll be anything you need. Just speak to me. Let me in.” I was pretty much pleading with her at this point. “Okay.” and with that we both just sat there, letting the sparks fly. “Is it okay if we come in?” We are here on the other side of the door. Naomi tries to scramble off of me but I wasn’t having it. “No, stay,” I say as she blushes. “You can come in,” I announce, awaiting the Kings and Queen to enter. I had already expressed my intentions to them when Naomi awakened. The Queen cried when I wholeheartedly expressed that Naomi is it. Title or no title. Wolf or no wolf. She’s it. She’s a part of me until the day I cease to exist. “Hello, my baby.” The Queen walked in and placed a loving kiss on Naomi’s head. Naomi blushed as she sat on my lap in front of her parents. “I see you’ve already accepted each other.” The queen states. I nod and give a big doofus of a smile, causing the Kings to chuckle. “Naomi baby?” King Alaric calls out. She gives him her attention and I could see all of their pain. “Dad, I’m-“sigh, “Do you want to talk about it?” King Dom asks. Naomi sat in a moment of her thoughts for some time. All of us allowed her to grasp things. “I didn’t even get to meet her.” with that a soft cry left Naomi’s lips. I held on to her, giving her as much strength as I could. A white light illuminated the room and in front of the small group, an angel presided. “Grandma.” Naomi cried standing and running into the angelic figure that appeared out of thin air. “I know baby. I am so sorry. I’ll fix this. Please be patient.” The angel coos into Naomi’s sobbing body. “How? Why?” Naomi cries as the woman guided her back to me. The woman looked over to me and caressed my cheek, “you are such a blessing.” she compliments me and turns to everyone else. “The poison used to kill Naomi’s wolf is from the primordial ages. It is a spell mixed with ingredients, of other worlds. So whoever concocted it, has connections and knowledge of the different realms. So much so, that they not only acquired the necessary ingredients but also got the only person in the realms that had the power to concoct it, to agree to do it. Whether it was willingly or unwilling, that I don’t know.” The room was silent. “Have you a suspect?” King Dom asks. “Not a suspect, but someone who will be able to steer us on the right path. He’ll arrive the day after tomorrow. His journey is difficult and long. So be patient.” I was completely lost. Realms? Primordial spells? Poisons? “Um-excuse me?” I interrupt the silence that had developed. “I know I’m probably not authorized or whatever, but what?” I mean seriously. The Kings chuckled as did the Queen when the tall beautiful woman in front of me spoke, “my apologies son. I’m Anela, Naomi’s grandmother. The Queen's biological mother. You may call me Mother Moon Goddess or grandma.” I think I blacked out. All I could do was let one, “Ha!” out, awaiting someone to say, “got you.” But as I spun around looking at everyone's faces, they were all saying one thing, “yes you heard that right.” “Ohhhh-“ I bow. “Please son, don’t fret. You are part of the family now. My granddaughter's mate. You have my full blessings.” A warmth surrounded me. One of acceptance and goodness. The moon goddess accepts me. A nobody. “You are NOT a nobody son. I apologize for the way your life has gone. But there are some things that life throws that are meant to happen at that time. Things that are out of my control. Call it one's fate or destiny, it’s just the way some things are meant to be. Even though it sucks.” I nod, understanding her. I didn’t blame her or anybody. I was a small pup when my dad was murdered. I don’t even remember how it all happened, but I knew that some things happen and there’s just no way of knowing the details or having the ability to change such life-altering events. “Mom. Naomi?” The Queen asks. “Ah, yes, I’ve found her wolf but she is.....in a coma if you will. The poison nearly killed her off completely when I found her in the deepest parts of my realm. A place where only the sinister ones roam. She’s in my care and no harm will come to her. I’ll be needing Naomi from time to time. To try to see if her presence makes a difference in waking her wolf. But Tobias will be here to help as well. Treat him well. He’s an old friend. One who has seen many moons.” The moon Goddess looks around assuring the Kings put forth word of Tobias’s arrival. “Who is he?” King Maika asks. “We’re all bit rattled. Trust right now is limited, I apologize mother, but right now we....we-“ King Maika stopped and glanced at Naomi. “We failed you, my daughter. I, personally, will never be able to forgive myself.” Naomi ran towards her father jumping into his arms. “I don’t ever blame any of you Dads,” Naomi replied to her fathers. They all took turns embracing her and when they all got their say of apologies, with Naomi scoffing at each of them, she returned to my side. We continue our small talk. I'm still reeling at everything. It’s crazy to even think I am in a family who is legitimately blood-related to the moon Goddess herself. Like whaaaat?! They take their leave as I hold on to Naomi. “Hey, where are you right now?” I whisper. I could see so many swirling thoughts. “I-I don’t know. I feel like I should be angry, sad, or scared. However, I feel.....nothing.” She leans in more and I took that as a cue to up my comfort strategies. “You don’t need to rush coming into your feelings. It’s a lot to wrap your mind around. I’m so sorry I can’t be of more comfort.” I felt like I was failing her. I could tell she was lost. I can only imagine her thoughts, her feelings. It’s an anarchic event. “I love you,” I whisper in her hair. “I’ve loved you from the moment I sensed you are my mate. You own my heart and soul. And whatever you need of me to help you get through this, take it, it’s yours.” A lone tear falls as she looked up into my eyes at my confession. “Thank you.” I didn’t expect her to say it back. Not yet. I know for her this is all too soon. For me, I felt the bond, it was instant because I had my wolf. For her, it’ll be a work in progress. Even though she doesn’t have her wolf, she knows how it works. The sparks are still there, very faint, but still there. I'll forever thank the moon goddess above, or here for. I feared the loss of the sparks when everything happened. I was already mourning the loss of the beautiful soul of a wolf that we had not even met yet. Losing the spark would entail me losing Naomi completely. But as soon as I lifted her into my lap that evening, and I felt it, my wolf howled in both pain and happiness, there was still something. Oli has been, absent. I can feel him in mourning. We both lost the other half of our soul and for him, the pain was far worst. He lost his mate. His counterpart. “Can-an you stay with me tonight? I don’t think I want to be in silence by myself.” Naomi’s voice breaks the silence that had taken place. “Of course. If you’re not comfortable, I’ll sleep on the floor. I’ll go shower and be back.” She held me tightly, shaking her head in a panic. “Hey-it’s okay.” I pull her even closer and close my eyes. I think we sat there for a few minutes when a knock on the door came. “Alpha Blake?” I furrow my eyebrows, “yes?” I reply in confusion. “We have your things. If it’s okay, we’ll put them away and be out of your room in no time.” What? I felt Naomi squirm in my arms then tilted her head up to look at me. A shy look crossed her face. “I-uh, I asked my chambermaid to bring your things here. I hope you don’t mind.” I was sitting there in complete shock. “Are you sure?” She doesn’t hesitate to answer, “yes, I need you near.” I nod and beckon the omega in. “Princess? Any specific requests?” The omega asks not even batting an eye at the precarious position we were in. “No, move my things around and make room for Blakes. Take out whatever.” I just sit there and smile like an i***t. The omega’s do as they are told and soon exit. “Um-you-I-want to shower. Would you shower with me?” Oh, holy or holiness, “How’s about, I draw you a tub? You relax in the tub and I’ll wait.” Her face is instantly sad. Pulling her face to look at me, “I don’t want you to rush anything. I don’t want you to feel forced to be a part of this. Yes, we are mates. But we move at your pace, not a pace of where you feel like you need to appease me or our bond.” I say gently. Her eyes teared up, then pulls my lips to hers. Her tongue taking charge and forcing me to play with hers. I oblige and soon our kiss becomes so heated, that her scent filled the room. When she pulls away, her flushed cheeks looked cute. “I want you. Not just today, or tonight. I want you forever Blake. This is me, showing you, that you are and forever will be my mate. Whether my pace says today or next week, I’ll always want you. All of you.” I gulped down the ever-growing love I felt. Without another word, I lift her and myself off the bed and make my way to her en suite...
