Keahi POV
Today I was escaping. I had my game plan, and I was quite sure it was a good, safe plan.
Sury has been distant. She’s never called for me again. She’s never asked to talk. Nothing. I chucked it up to her dad, stepping in, and let it be.
Do I still have feelings for her? I’d be lying if I said no. But is that enough to keep me here, living a lie? F*ck that!
*Knock, knock, knock* It was six in the morning. I was getting ready for my shift, mid shave. “Hold on.” With shaving cream still on my face, I walked over to the door and opened it. Finding Sury there, with her father.
I gulped, “uh-yeah, hi. Um-sorry, hold on.” I ran away, leaving the door ajar, to rinse my face and place a shirt on, then rushed back out where the werebear king and his daughter, princess Sury, had now made their way inside my small room.
“Apologies for the intrusion, but it seems the matter at hand was too important to postpone.” I bowed, “of course your highness. No apologies needed.” He eyed me, and when I kept my eyes down, he sighed.
“Keahi?” I looked up when Sury’s voice sounded. “Yes Princess.” I remained cordial and respectful. “Keahi, look at me.” I hesitated but decided that ignoring her and disobeying probably was way more disrespectful then looking at her.
When I did, her lips turned up into a bright smile. “Sury?” My voice was meek in the presence of her father. “Daddy, stop. You’re scaring him.” Not a second later, the suffocating invisible aura left and I was able to breathe.
“It’s okay, Keahi. Everything is better than okay. Right daddy?” The king, king Fergus, only let out a grunt that sounded more like a huff.
“Come, walk with me.” I watch as Sury walks out, leaving just the king and I standing in my room. For a second, his eyes scanned my whole body, with what I felt like x-ray abilities, and when he didn’t find anything, he just turned and left. What the f*ck?
I followed both Sury and the King downstairs to what I'd come to know as their wing of the den. Off limits to everyone except family and approved bears. I gulped the amount of saliva my body was creating as nausea was seeping in.
My mind ran, as every thought in my mind went south. Did they find out about my plan to escape? Are they leading me to my death? F*ck, f*ck, f**k! I had to think of a way out of this, but what the hell do I say? What can I say to get out of what is happening? Nothing. That’s it. Nothing.
So, like cattle led to s*******r, I followed, my gaze never roaming other than my steps. I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn’t realized that we had stopped and I collided into the back of the king.
A very low grunt vibrated in his chest, “watch it.” I awaited a physical kind of reprimand, but nothing came.
A set of thick wooded doors opened and inside was a grand dining room, decorated for royalty. The what looked like a twenty-plus-foot long table, with, if I had to guess, fifty chairs around it, sat in the center of the large room.
Large floral centerpieces were placed to decorate the gold and bronze table runner, going from one end of the table all the way to the other end. At every seat, there sat a very formal table setting. If I had to guess, fourteen-piece tableware for each seat. Not including the wine, water, and coffee cups set as well.
I am led to the far end, where Sury takes a seat next to the head of the table, where King Fergus took too. Sury’s smile never leaves her face, and when she sees me still standing, feet away from the chair she had already gestured for me to it on, she laughs, “come on. Everything is fine. Come and sit.”
My eyes went from Sury to the king and I could see his features shift from irritated to giving up in mere seconds after Sury’s invitation.
Once again, I obey. I take my seat and not a second later, an array of food comes out of carts. Two servants remove two of the flower arrangements that sat before us and replace them with at least twelve different dishes.
I mean there was pork in every fashion. Bacon, ham, sausages in patty and or link style. With it is a large serving tray of scrambled eggs, another with sunny side up eggs. From fried potatoes, to hash browns, to rice, to oatmeal. Fruits of every kind as well.
My stomach reacted, very loudly, giving a reason for the king to smile. “hungry?” I grinned, “yes sir.” I mean what was the sense of lying when my stomach had already announced it to the whole den already.
“Well, dig in.” I waited, letting Sury and the king make their plate first. As a servant myself, I am very aware of where I am on the totem pole.
“You don’t have to wait. You can plate up whatever you want. There’s plenty more if this runs out.” I gawked at Sury. I mean, daily, I eat once a day, as said from the beginning. And when we do eat, it’s usually a slurry of left overs from two or three days ago. I mean, it’s still bomb as s**t, but this, this was all freshly cooked and hot.
I made myself a plate, not being greedy, when I saw a servant's arm come from my right side and start adding triple of what I had already put on my plate. “Sury said eat, so eat.” The king grunted out irritated.
I bow once more and dug in. When I had finished one item, a servant came and replaced it with more. I think I was on my third serving of everything when I called it quits. “Thank you thank you. I’m fine. I’ve had enough.” I tell the servant, who bows and stands back.
I wait for the king and Sury to finish and when they do, a flurry of servants come and clear the table. Replacing it with several different beverages. “Coffee? Tea?” Sury asked, her eyes sparkling. Her complexion, blemishless. I couldn’t help but smile, she was absolutely beautiful. “Uh-I’ll have coffee. Black. Thank you.”
She pours a mug and we sit in uncomfortable silence. I couldn’t say if it was two minutes or twenty, but the silence was maddening and at this point, all this kindness, rattled me so insane that I couldn’t hold the blurt that came ranting out.
“Okay, I know I shouldn’t have slept with Sury, but I have kept my distance like I'd been ordered. I do my work, I don't’ cause trouble. Whatever this is about, please let me know how to fix it. If this was my last meal, I only have one request. Please, make it quick.” I let my eyes close, allowing all the years of emotions that I’ve held at bay.
I felt small hands envelope mine, “hey, no, this isn’t what this is about.” Sury pulled my chin to look at her, “open your eyes, Keahi.”
As soon as I did, the flood gates released all the tears that were trapped behind my eyelids. Sury was still smiling, this time a sad smile. “Keahi, it’s all okay. Look at me.” I did and when I did, her eyes fell on her other hand which laid on her flat belly.
“Keahi, i’m pregnant.”

Introducing Nahe and Nanea POV (w/third person POV)
Being cast out from our family wasn’t a part of our end game. It wasn’t even part of the plan at all. We knew when we first found out about Naomi being adopted, that she had to go, same for Deon. Granted, Deon was technically family, a blooded alpha as well, but still, he had been given things and positions within the Royal family that he was not born into either.
Getting rid of him though would have started an internal war, one we felt that was unnecessary, right now. One we thought wouldn't surface with Naomi, but how wrong were we?
Like Naomi, she got the best of all things. She was crowned princess, given the title, the power, and the riches of one, and she was a mutt. It wasn’t right. She, just like everyone else who had to be placed accordingly to their birth right, should have been either casted out as a rogue for the assault on my mother by her birth mother. She shouldn’t have been adopted. What the hell was my mother thinking?
So, we dug deep into the archives. I went digging through the vaults of the royal council's accounts of our family's personal notes. Just my mom alone covered a three-story vault. We spent a lot of time down in the vaults, and low and behold we found the truth.
We had plans to just have her kidna**ed, even attempted it once, but she always had a tail everywhere she went. Lia.
Lia, even with no magical powers, was fast and strong. Unbelievably smart too. Something we were not strong enough to go up against yet. So we had to practice our gifts.
No one, not even our parents, knew that we had gifts. It was our twelfth birthday when we had imagined waking up to a strawberry cake. When we woke, sitting on the night stand between our beds were two strawberry cakes.
We asked everyone if they had made it, going to all the cooks, bakers, aunts and uncles. But no one knew anything about it.
We thought it was a fluke, but one day we were walking in the forest when the wind picked up and our thin clothing had done nothing to shield us from it. We both thought about warm parkas, winter boots and knit caps and poof, we had them. They just appeared.
It was at that point that we realized that we were gifted. Moreover, we weren’t only gifted with telepathy and telekinesis, when together, we could manipulate the elements. That one took a lot out of us. But over the years, we’ve practiced and we’ve come a long way. There were limitations, but for the most part, anything we so desired was a thought away.
Limitations so far were the inability to fly or levitate ourselves. We could levitate small objects, but our limit stopped at small sedan cars. Another one was to create living objects. We tried that too, but it seemed it was something we would never be able to do. Plus it was time-consuming and exhausting. We can’t heal others or bring the dead back either. We couldn’t teleport without outside magic either.

(Third person POV) “Has mom tried to link you?” Nahe asked Nanea. “No. She did early on, at the beginning, as you know, but nothing since.”
Nanea, she had Nahe’s back through it all. But, sometimes Nahe felt really bad for her because Nanea has the heart of an angel. Her spirit is one of kindness, while Nahe’s is filled with darkness.
“I feel your sadness. Tell me how to fix this. You know we share emotions. I need you to be open with me.” Nahe pleaded with Nanea, feeling the deepest sadness she had ever felt from her sister.
“You’ve seen and heard what home is like. Yes?” Nanea asks. Nahe sighs, “I have. I didn’t intend for the entire family to be uprooted as they had. Had I known, I’d have found another way. But what is done is done.”
Nanea stared out over the pacific ocean as they sailed. Her emotions on her sleeve. “Naomi is gone. She has been casted out. As you planned. Yet we fall into that same category as her, haven’t we? Rogues? Outcast? The unwanted? Hunted by thousands of wolves and several species.”
Nahe remained quiet, unsure if her words would help or hurt their already fragile emotions and relationship.
While both were gifted, Nanea was stronger. She possesses a few gifts Nahe doesn’t as well. One was the gift to take one’s life with a flick of her finger. Nahe knew that angering Nanea wasn’t in the best interest for her, so she played to Nanea’s tune.
“I’m sorry sister.” Nahe sighed, listening to the ripples of the currents slosh against the vessel. “I’ll reach out to mother if it’s what you want. I’ll plead for your innocence in everything that has happened. Just please, don’t forsake me.”
Nanea scoffed, “you think, after everything we have done. The hurt and pain we have caused, that I would be forgiven so easily? You think anything you say will even be taken into consideration? You are stupider than you look.”
Nahe gasped, never hearing her sister so rude towards her. “Watch it. You will show respect!” Nahe warned Nanea. Taking Nanea by surprise because they were equals. So, who was she to demand respect?
An invisible force hit Nahe, taking her off her feet, landing her twenty feet away, on the back deck of the vessel they were on. “YOU will not threaten me. Remember who I AM and what I am capable of. Do not test me and think I will tolerate your disrespect because you are my twin. You are not superior to me.”
Nahe chuckled, getting up, dusting herself off. Then, she countered Nanea, but Nanea knew it was coming and shielded herself from Nahe’s attack. Then in a blink, Nanea was gone. Poof, gone.
Nahe looked around, searching for her twin sister. Ten minutes later she ran around the large vessel, calling out to her sister who had vanished. But she never found her.
Where the hell did she go? How the hell did she just disappear?

Nanea POV
At a very tender age, I felt my purpose was to help those who needed help. Growing up in a large family such as mine, I always loved the dynamics of it all.
Nahe and I were not necessarily forgotten, but we were pushed aside a lot as our older siblings needed to be guided as they would be the ones to take the throne later.
I wasn’t so butt hurt about it. I didn’t mind it. It gave me time to figure out life on my own. It taught me independence. But my sister took it to heart.
She’d always scowl when mother and father would cater to Naomi and Kealoha. She detested Naomi the most. So much so because, out of all of us, Naomi had her own appearance. While we were all darker skinned due to our Hawaiian blood line, Naomi was fairer than us. Fairer then even Kahi.
As we got older, Nahe and I stuck beside one another. Naomi would always try to take time to come sit with us, but Nahe would always push her away.
Ikaika was the only one Nahe respected, but like our parents, as we grew, so did the space between us. He had responsibilities and we were not one. This only caused Nahe to retract from our family even further.
While I brushed it off, Nahe took it to heart. Being ignored had sparked hate in Nahe. One that only grew as the years went by.
When we had found out that we were gifted, Nahe had made me promise to never tell anyone. I never thought about thinking of the why? So I just went along with it and promised. We would secretly practice with our powers and find that we were stronger together. We protected each other as our lives depended on it.
I thought it was because we loved one another and feared losing the other, but after time, I felt deeply that there was another reason under Nahe’s foot. I just could never tell if what I felt was true, until recently. Making me question Nahe.
As we received a new power, Nahe’s darkness grew too large for someone so young to harbor. It started to consume her, and I could only watch as it aimed at Naomi.
After some time of watching Nahe grow darker, I had made a decision that if I gained a new gift that Nahe hadn’t acquired, I would keep it a secret. Because of her greed of power and hate against Naomi, Nahe was borderline manic and obsessive.
When we heard rumors of Naomi’s adoption, I tried to steer Nahe away from her thoughts and plans, but her darkness steered her every move and all I could do was go a long with it, and try my best to minimize the damage.
But I failed. Horribly.
When Nahe had begun to put her plans into motion, I had made suggestions, once again, to minimize damage, but it was useless. For anything I thought I had a say in had changed at the last minute and the plan was now everything Nahe wanted. And sadly, her plans stomped on everyone who didn’t see things her way. She didn’t care who she hurt. As long as she gets her way.
Even though I tried to minimize damage, because I stood beside Nahe, I was the culprit and a coconspirator. I was just as guilty as my twin. And I was.
Nahe had no remorse that she had dragged me down into the abyss of her black mess. She cared about no one but herself. And she used me the entire time to gain what? I don’t know, because we were still puppets and gained nothing.
When I teleported us to our secret hideout; our sea vessel, ‘The Gifted,’ with the last of the teleporting potion, Nahe was enraged with Mr. Conrad and his disrespect.
Her want for vengeance had become tiresome and I was at my wits' end with the constant running. Because of her wickedness, I had lost my family, my friends and my honor.
I had tried to get her to see how far she had gone, but her narcissism and darkness were now in charge of her and I wanted no part in her future endeavors.
When I slapped her, I felt a piece of me break. We were twins. Our bond was stronger than any bond in the world. Slapping her was like slapping myself. But she had gone too far in thinking she was superior to me. We were equals, and she spoke to me like I was beneath her feet. I would not tolerate it.
Now, here I am, wondering about the forests of Kauai Island. Lost in my thoughts, my pain and my sorrows.
I was unaware though that I was in the midst of the Waimea Wolf's territory. Sitting on a large boulder near the Waimea river, the water was trickling in a mild way. Its forces seemed to have dried up.
I was about to teleport out when a loud and angry howl sounded, causing me to pause in my stance. “Don’t move! State your pack and your rank!” I turned slowly to a male wolf, tall and muscular. His body was covered with just shorts. Shorts that hung low on his hips, presenting me with a view of his ‘V’ cut that my eyes appreciated.
“I will not hesitate to chisel your eyes out, for I have a mate. State your name!” I shook my head, clearing my improper thoughts, “ I’m sorry, my name is Nanea.” He c****d his head to the side. “What pack are you from?” I panicked, but I knew in time they’d find out who I was, “I am Nanea Koa from the Island of Hawaii. I am-I was princess of wolves. And now, I am a traitor.” I closed my eyes as a tear had formed.
“I will not fight. I'll turn myself in.” The guard growled as he heard who I was. For word traveled even to the mainland of our treacherous acts against the royal family. “I promise to go in peace.”
Not a few minutes later, a swarm of guards surrounded me. I raised my arms up in defeat and followed their every command.
I was kicked and stomped. My hair pulled and it was then that I let my tears truly fall.
The assault halted as my sobs had become louder than the a***e. “You dare to seek sympathy after the evil acts you and your sister have done?” A loud booming voice shouted. I raised my head to see an Alpha. His aura had clearly pointed that out.
“Where is your sister?” He commanded an answer and I was now but a rogue, one that was still in a sound mind to have to answer. “She is on a ship in the middle of the pacific. The coordinates are 15.98266 degrees North, 159.04929 degrees West. She is alone and stuck. So she’ll be there if anyone goes for her. She doesn’t know how to operate the ship, nor does she have any teleporting potion left.”
He grunted in annoyance but I could tell he was mind linking someone. “You will be extradited back to the Big Island soon. For now you are here to be arrested for treason and attack on the royal family of wolves. You will be transported as soon as the royal guards and council see fit.”
I nodded in defeat. This wasn't the plan, but I knew it was going to come sooner or later. I was done fighting. I was done running. Whatever my fate is, I’ll humbly accept it.
“I apologize, grandma.” With that, someone punched me hard, knocking me into silent darkness.
