An hour later we’re outside under a huge tree. Declyn is agitated. He does not need to feed; his eyes are still light enough to tell me this. It is as if he worries about something and it edges on his mood. The only time he does not grunt or growl is when he plays with the babies. I notice how they love being around him too, and practically climb over me for his attention. They aren’t human babies, that is for sure. The way they already push up and move about, try to converse and engage and their strength, is beyond that of three-month-old children! Venus has a hand-full of my hair and she refuses to let it go.
