Drake set the crystal down on his desk, then sat down and stared at it. I reached from his elbow almost to the tips of his fingers and glowed a deep blue throughout. It was so thin it looked fragile to the touch. Looks were deceiving. It was far stronger than it looked and heavier too. It was also much more than just a lump of crystal. As to what it was… that depended on how you asked the question. It was a solid lump of matter or a strangely glowing crystal. Or, apparently, a key to moving between two dimensions if the Azimuth’s words could be trusted. That was a big if! But still… it was no ordinary crystal. Drake had learnt that when he linked to it through the Azimuth, a feat he wanted to repeat now. Yet he hesitated. Any interaction with the Azimuth carried potential risk
