To Drake’s surprise his worries proved to be unfounded. As they made their way back through jump point after jump point, the Dagger limping to begin with and slowly becoming more and more shipshape, they encountered no threats. Jump after jump was clear.
The fact they could now overcome the starblindness after every jump, see what was there and react if needed, made jumps far less fraught than they had always been before. Drake was able to immediately confirm there was no threat each time.
When they made the final jump which took them out of the dead-end Drake was surprised to find there was still nothing awaiting them. It seemed the Phoenix Conglomerate had gambled everything on the Twin Lightning and hadn’t even considered the Dagger might somehow fail to succumb to the Phoenix
