As Astarkus station came within sensor range with no sign of major activity Drake relaxed. He immediately had Dalesh transmit full details of the battle against the hellship, only omitting any details which might hint at the Dagger’s rather specialised abilities.
Drake had spun the tale to suggest the Dagger had been out of the line of fire of the hellship’s attack which the rest of the fleet succumbed to. Other than that it reported events as they had happened. The Vice Admiral could draw his own conclusions from the events.
The order had barely been carried out when Jensen suddenly stiffened.
“Captain, there’s a ship approaching quickly from behind us, the Darast. It’s one of the faster warships which survived the battle against the hellship.”
