- Ethan’s P.O.V -
The little girl’s story was more than just that. A long time ago we used to learn that psychics are a way for nature to balance itself. That if chaos were to happen, psychics exist to save us. After the war, very few amounts of people survived so they thought psychics we all gone.
But we also learned that psychics aren’t a common creature and are only found when needed.
The girl was talking about how the queen is the reason her daughter is not able to use her powers and how she wishes she didn’t make this mistake.
I also learned that psychics speak in riddles and never reveal the true story.
“Queen Helena,” I call.
“Oh, I didn’t see you there,” she turns around.
She was on the balcony away from everybody so I followed her to speak with her.
“Kratos is a beautiful land your highness,” I start.
“It is, I have yet to see your land Ethan,” she speaks.
“Everyone has their secrets,” I laughed and she nodded.
“How may I help you?” she said.
“I wanted to congratulate you on the wedding. I’m surprised you were able to convince Rieka to marry Malik,” I say.
“Oh no, they love each other, I never forced her to marry anyone,” she shook her head.
“But you did force her to be human,” I said and she looked at me with wide eyes.
“What did you say?” Helena asked with a shaky voice.
“Why are you surprised? Didn’t you let your daughter marry the hunter?” I ask.
“How do you know all of this?” She was nervous.
“Rieka deserves to know the truth, isn’t that why you called her Rieka in the first place? To be a Luna?” I tilt my head and the queen looks as confused as ever.
“You… you’re her mate. You’re the reason her wolf is awake,” she pointed her finger at me.
“And you’re the reason she doesn’t know who she is,” I face her.
“No, Rieka is married and she will stay with him. She lived as a human her entire life and she will continue to live that way,” she says and begins to walk away.
“You want to kill her? What kind of mother are you? Unless… you’re not her real mother,” I triggered her.
“I am her real mother,” she turned around again.
“That means her father is a wolf and you cheated on your husband,” I think of the only explanation knowing the King isn’t a wolf.
“What do you want, Ethan. Money?” She asks.
“I have all the money I need,” I approached her.
“All I want… is for my Luna to be with me,” I say towering over her.
The queen does not say another word and turns to walk away.
“And don’t try telling anyone about me or I will reveal your secret… Queen Helena,” I threaten and she leaves after hearing what I said.
“You told her?” Luis approaches me as soon as the woman left.
“Don’t worry, she won’t tell anyone,” I say watching her walk away.
“How can you be so sure?” he asks
“Because it’s her daughter’s life she’s be putting in danger,” I explain then go back to the festival.

At night, I was back in the packhouse when I felt a sting on my arm. Rieka?
I get up and start running in her direction. Half an hour later, I see her standing where we usually meet.
“I didn’t expect to see you today,” I smile but she doesn’t.
“What’s wrong?” I ask cupping her cheeks.
“I don’t know, I’m just… tired of meeting this way,” she shakes her head.
“Do you want to go to the packhouse?” I lift her chin.
“I want to learn how to transform,” she said.
“It’s too early for that,” I say.
“I’m ready, I know I am. Today, I was able to remain calm, my wolf was calm and I had no headaches. I’m ready,” she looks at me.
“Okay,” I say then as for permission to stick the needle in her neck.
I carried her and walked in the direction of the packhouse but I didn’t take her there this time. It’s her first time transforming so she has to be away from everything in case she hurts anyone.
An hour later, she wakes up and looks around, and realizes we’re in the forest.
“Where are we?” she asked standing up.
“In the forest away from everyone,” I tell her and she nods.
“Okay, let’s do this,” she says.
“Alright, transforming is usually the easiest unless it’s a full moon. During a full moon, it hurts much much more,” I explain.
“But it was a full moon two weeks ago, there’s another one in three days,” she says.
“I didn’t transform the last time,” she continues.
“I know, that’s because your wolf is awake, but is still in a cage, if you transform today, you’re setting her free meaning you will start transforming every full moon,” I tell her and she starts thinking.
“Ethan?” She looks at me.
“You always refer to my wolf as another being, what do you mean by that?” she asks and I smile.
“When we transform, we become a different creature, it’s just our brain in the body of a wolf, but the body, the senses, it’s all theirs. We’re just connected to them which is why it seems as if we’re the ones seeing or hearing when it’s actually all them,” I explained.
“So, if we’re injured in our human form, are we hurting them too?” Rieka asks and I nod.
“And by caging her all these years… I’m hurting her?” she furrows her eyebrows out of sympathy.
She’s finally feeling connected to her wolf.
“Yes, but you feeling sad for her, means she’s trusting you and you’re connecting to her. That’s a good thing,” I approach her.
“I want her free, teach me how to transform,” she confirms.
“You have to let your wolf take control, only then you can change. You’re going to feel a little pain but it’s okay it won’t hurt you much,” I back away.
“Do I speak with her or something?” she asks.
“You could,” I laughed.
“But she won’t hear you, you have to trust her and want her to be free,” I tell her.
“You do it first,” Rieka speaks.
I think of her request first and I didn’t expect her to ask me to do it.
“I have to remove my clothes,” I tell her.
“Why?” she furrowed her eyebrows.
“Because they would rip while I’m changing,” I say and she nods.
I begin taking my shirt off and she turns away her back facing me.
“Why did you turn?” I asked her.
“You’re getting naked, I shouldn’t see you,” she said and I laughed.
“I’m your mate, Rieka. It’s okay,” I tell her but she shakes her head.
“It’s better this way,” she says.
It breaks my heart to hear her say that. Things like this should be normal and natural between two mates. We should’ve officially mated by now but I don’t want to pressure her when she barely knows how to control herself.
I begin taking my clothes off and keep my underpants so she could turn around and watch me transform.
“Rieka, turn around,” I ask her.
“You’re done?” she asks.
“No, I want you to see how it happens,” I say but she hesitates.
“Don’t worry, I’m not completely naked,” I say understanding why she still isn’t looking at me.
Slowly, she turns around and widens her eyes when she sees my body. I smirk seeing her face.
I back away and let myself free. My eyes change colors and I knew that when she stared at them witnessing it. Soon, I felt my bones breaking but it wasn’t painful and a few seconds later, I could see the white fur and paws.
I looked up to see Rieka still standing there with a surprised look.
“You’re much bigger than a normal wolf,” I hear her say but I couldn’t reply because her wolf wouldn’t hear me and she doesn’t understand the language yet,
I walk around her so she feels comfortable and that it’s safe.
“I’ll try,” she says and I nod my head.
I watch her straighten her back and start taking her clothes her leaving her undergarments. Then, she closes her eyes. I could feel her heartbeat fast but not for long. I wasn’t the one feeling her heart anymore my wolf is. Her wolf trusts her and she’s breaking free. Rieka opens her eyes and they’re as blue as the sky, just like mine.
I look at her neck and the fur is starting to appear, except… it was black, like her hair. Her hands and legs follow and soon, she was a wolf. She was as black as the dark night, she was beautiful.
“Rieka? Do you hear me?” I try to speak with her.
“Yes,” she answers me back.
“How does it feel?” I ask.
“It’s… it’s wonderful,” She says.
“I want this… I want to be Luna, Ethan,”
