Part 1: Chapter 5: The Truth

- Ethan’s P.O.V -

“Yes,” she said.

I could not help but smile at her response, I finally have my Lune, after all these years of learning about Alpha Kai and the alpha king. I couldn’t wait for the day for me to finally have enough power to help my pack and I knew Rieka is the only person I wanted to do this with.

“So, we’re mated now?” she asked.

“The day of your coronation we did mate, but for it to be official…” I started but didn’t continue the rest.

“What?” she spoke.

“I have to mark you and you to mark me and we do that when we mate, literally,” I continued and she looked at me silently.

“I’m married, that would be cheating,” she said.

“I know, but your marriage is a mistake,” I said and then realized I shouldn’t have.

“I love Malik,” Rieka says and it angered me a little.

She’s my Luna, I’m the one she’s supposed to be with, but her parents chose to lie to her instead.

“That’s only because your wolf was asleep, but after you drank the wolfsbane last week, you’re no longer human. You’re one of us now,” I explain.

“So, you want me to leave Malik, leave my parents, and come to you?” she said.

“No, no I would never ask you to do anything you’re not comfortable with, but at the same time, I can’t lie to you and tell you that’s not the best decision for you,” I start.

“Soon you will feel different. Everything around you will be amplified. Your sight, your hearing, you won’t know when to transform and when not to. And the full moon…” I continued.

“The full moon is the only time you won’t be able to control your transformation and it’ll hurt, it’ll hurt you so much you will think you’re breaking every bone in your body all at once,” I tell her.

I could feel her pulse increase, she was scared. That’s my fault, I just drowned her with a lot of new information she never knew of.

“It’s going to be okay, I’m here,” I pull her close to me and hug her.

I felt her arms wrap around me a few seconds later so my grasp got stronger. She was pressed against my chest and she calmed down to the rhythm of my heart. I was fond of her like my only purpose was to keep her safe.

I always hear the pack members talk about how wonderful it is to have a mate and I would think they’re exaggerating, but I was wrong… so wrong. Having Rieka with me right now feels amazing and her accepting me as her mate makes it all even better.

We haven’t marked each other yet and I already feel this way. I knew she felt what I did, but she did not react the same way.

She didn’t think of me the way I thought of her, but I am still going to be there for her every step of the way until she allows me to make her my Luna.

She broke our contact after realizing we’ve been in the same position for minutes and looked at me.

“I want to know more about myself, I even want to know about my real parents because there’s no way the king and queen are my biological parents, I want to become who I am supposed to be and frankly, I don’t know why I trust you or believe you, but I know this is where I was supposed to be,” she says.

“I can feel your disappointment because I’m not connected to you the same way, but I want you to understand that I’m married… and the worse part is I’m married to the man who wants you dead. I’m your mate and can’t help but care about you, however, I’m also Malik’s wife and I still love him,” she continues.

“Rieka, I’m here for you, whenever you want, whatever you want. I’m here to teach you and help you and hopefully soon, when you get to know me more, you’ll accept me to be more than just your mentor but as your Alpha and partner,” I reassure her and she nods smiling.

“I have to go,” she says.

“As you wish,” I stand up.

“But I have to…” I speak.

“I know,” she nods.

I stick another needle in her neck and soon she falls asleep again.

“Never saw you be this gentle Alpha,” Luis comes in.

“Shut up,” I tell him.

“I’m sorry,” he bows his head.

I carry Rieka and leave the packhouse to take her back to her palace.

“Let me take her,” Luis offers.

“So you take her back without her being asleep? You’re lucky she doesn’t remember the way her after last time,” I say and move past him.

A couple of minutes later, we arrived at where we met and I placed her on the ground while she was still asleep. I looked at her and smiled. Then I stood up and left the area before anyone could see me or she wakes up.

- Rieka’s P.O.V –

I woke up feeling the ground under me. I was back in the forest and when I looked back, Ethan was gone.

I stood up, dusted off the twigs and soil from my clothes, and went back to the palace carefully making sure no one sees me.

I opened the door to my room slowly and peeked inside and saw Malik was still asleep. I walked in and directly got in bed and fell asleep soon after.

The next morning, I opened my eyes and everything around me felt like it was amplified and it gave me a headache. It was like Ethan told me last night.

I looked around and the light coming from the window was much stronger, I could hear the cooks open and close cabinets from the kitchen, I could smell the flowers from outside. It was worse than I thought it would be.

I tried to get up but ended up falling back down.

“Rieka, are you okay?” Malik's voice rang in my head louder than all the other sounds.

“Lower your voice,” I closed my eyes.

“What’s wrong?” he spoke.

“I have a terrible headache,” I said. I can’t tell him the real reason; he would kill me before getting to Ethan.

“Let me go get you a pill, don’t worry,” he said and left the room.

I tried breathing so I calm myself but it was not working. I thought I needed Ethan but how was I going to go to him this early?

“Take this,” Malik came back with a pill and a glass of water.

I took them from him and swallowed them directly. I waited for them to affect me but nothing happened. Of course, the reason I was like this was my second half being a mystical creature and I’m sure pills aren’t what they take when they don’t feel well.

“I’m better, thank you,” I told Malik so he wouldn’t suspect anything. He’s a hunter, I’m sure he knows everything there is to know about werewolves, so waking up next to him every day is very risky but what could I do?

Tell everyone I’m a werewolf then run away?

I stood up trying to gain balance and walked to the bathroom to change my clothes. I stayed in there for ten minutes until I calmed down and luckily everything was back to normal and the headache was gone.

I went downstairs and saw Josey talking to the twins so I walked in their direction to learn what else she dreamt the night before.

“The prince needs his princess because she’s the only way for him to become stronger, but the princess can’t be with him because of the evil man, she tries to run away from him but she can’t. This is when the queen decides to help her,” I hear her say but then she stops.

I did not understand a word she said. I’ve been thinking Josette’s dreams aren’t just dreams, maybe she’s a real psychic like she previously told me. And maybe her dreams are about me but what a coincidence that would be.

“What happened next,” Alex asks.

“I don’t know, I woke up before I could see the rest,” she said and I couldn’t help but be as curious as to the younger boys.

“Good morning, Rieka,” Josette waves in my direction, and I smile waving back.

“Good morning, sweetheart,” I heard my mother speak behind me and I turn to her and greet her as well.

“Malik told me you had a headache, are you feeling better?” she asked.

“Yes, I’m much better,” I nodded.

“Come on, you have a lot to do today,” she held my hand and we walked.

“Mom?” I ask.

“Do you believe in mystical creatures?” I asked the only person I could trust.

Mother looked at me with a weird face. She was nervous, just like Malik when I asked him.

“Mystical creatures?” she laughed.

“Rieka, honey, don’t say such things,” she started walking away.

- Josette’s P.O.V –

I eavesdropped on my mother and Rieka’s conversation and got furious when she told Rieka not to believe in mystical creatures.

Why is she lying to her?

Why isn’t she telling her daughter the truth about the world we’re living in… about Rieka’s truth…
