JASON'S POV
I tried to focus on the partying around me but all I kept seeing was the image of Evan, my first enemy in the new school in the field, and now also in my personal life. I couldn't tell whether approaching Tess was a way of trying to piss me off or if he genuinely liked her. While I could tolerate the first one, asking me to accept the second one was asking for the impossible. There was no way I was going to let him have even the tiniest bit of a chance with her.
Just as I was about to step forward ready to take on him, two girls stepped forward and blocked my way.
"Jace!" One of them exclaimed as they both smiled.
I knew them from most of my classes. They had seated in front of me multiple times and their seductive smiles every time our eyes met hadn't passed me by. I had noticed them. I had experienced their "head b***h in charge" personality, they were pretty, confident, and outspoken. I couldn't lie and say that I hadn't noticed them because who was I kidding? These were the kind of girls I used to date. The girls I was expected to date as a football guy and the team's quarterback.
The problem was, I hadn't noticed them well enough to tell their names apart and as I stood there staring back at them with a misplaced smile, I wasn't sure who to look at as I addressed them.
"Lexi! Adelaide!"
The one I had addressed as Adelaide folded her face with displeasure.
"I'm Lexi, she's Laide."
"Right, sorry," I apologized quickly but all I could wish for was to be far away from them.
Lexi smiled and placed a hand on my shoulder then squeezed. I wanted to push it off me but I didn't. She smiled seductively stepping closer to me.
"I think I can forgive that tiny mistake. Only because it's you," she stated and then started looking around. "This is a nice house." She shrugged and extended a flawless smile. "Show me around?"
While I had no interest from the very beginning, her small talk was boring. I wanted out and I definitely didn't want to 'show her around' because I knew what that meant. My eyes darted around the room and settled briefly on Tess. I would rather be sneaking around with her and not be stuck in between these two girls.
"Come on, don't say you are afraid of your little sis," Lexi mocked and then cupped my face turning me back to her.
I was forced to lock eyes with her. While Tess's were brown, her's were a shade of grey, a sparkly grey that could pull anyone in in a flash. She shifted and pushed her chest outward throwing her luscious breasts into my face. My eyes dropped on the cleavage for a second then back into her eyes. She smiled and bit her lip seductively.
The girl was the whole package and a plus on the popular, just like me. She was my type of crowd and not my sister. The last part especially carried the weight.
"I should go..." I found myself saying.
Lexi stared at me in disbelief. She pulled her hand away slowly and sighed. Just as she was about to step away, she tripped on her heel and staggered almost hitting a table. I caught her quickly and held her steady. She chuckled nervously but instead of walking away like she had planned, she leaned in closer and brushed her body against me.
She was weak and limp. One wouldn't have told that she was drunk by just looking. It was clear that this wasn't her first time drinking. I didn't know what to do with her. Her friend was already off flirting with another guy. I was stuck with Lexi.
"Maybe you should go home and get some rest. You don't look so good," I suggested.
She pursed her lips and then spotted a weak smile.
"You are right. But you are not going to let me drive myself home, are you?"
"I can't..."
"I'm drunk, Jace. I'm a girl and it's late."
I furrowed my brows and watched her, not following what she was trying to say.
"Oh my God! Don't you know how to take a hint?" she rolled her eyes and then groaned before pulling herself away.
It was then that it hit me. I felt like an ass. Of course, I understood what that meant. I just didn't think I would go through with what she was suggesting. I liked Tess too much. She was shy, inexperienced too, and afraid of exploring. Lexi wasn't like that. I could tell that much and it wasn't the alcohol in her system talking. She knew what she was doing.
"Lexi?" I called stopping her across the room. She turned to me and waited as I walked to her. "You can stay the night and sleep in my room," I offered without thinking.
She smiled. A few seconds passed as we stared at each other. What was I doing? Did I really want this? The sparkle in her eyes, the smile lighting up her face, the longing look in her eyes... It was all as much as I could take. I ran my tongue along my lips to wet them and then averted my gaze.
"Aren't you going to show me there?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
I had f****d up. What was I thinking when I suggested that? Right. The fact that it had been long since I had some action and Tess was nowhere near ready to go through with it. I knew I was a jerk for even thinking about this. Could I do that to her? It wasn't like she was my girlfriend. She probably never would be.
I bit my inner lip painfully. I couldn't do that to her. I didn't want to. She was too pure and too good to deserve that. I promised myself inwardly that I wouldn't then offered my hand to Lexi.
"Let's go."
In my room, I stood near the door and watched her as she seated herself on my bed. She looked around for a moment before settling on me again. I shoved my hands in my jeans pockets.
"Do you want to change or are you good?" Lexi leaned back, her palms supporting her behind her back then stared at me. "I have pajamas, shorts, shirts... whatever you are comfortable with."
"I'll take the shirt."
I handed it to her and then stepped away ready to leave but Lexi took me by surprise by stripping right then and there. Her breasts bounced on her chest. The movement carried my eyes forgetting that I wasn't supposed to stare. She turned and caught me forcing me to look away quickly. She chuckled.
"You can look. I don't mind."
I swallowed hard. She was gorgeous in a different way from Tess. I liked Tess. Of course, I did in a way that surprised even me. I however couldn't keep my eyes from seeing something nice right in front of me. What was I supposed to do? Just close my eyes and act like I hadn't?
Yeah, maybe that was exactly what I was supposed to do.
I stepped away and made up my mind to leave. She grabbed me and turned me around. I was so unprepared for what happened next and didn't realize it until my lips were smacked heavily against hers. Only four words registered in my brain at that moment. — ‘Damn! She is good.’
