Alexander POV
The waiting area was noisy as families reunited with their relatives while others were bidding their relatives farewell.
I had just returned from Canada against my father's wishes.
The previous day, I had bagged my MBA degree and had already booked my flight but he asked me to cancel it.
He said I should return by the weekend and I agreed. But around midnight, I had a change of heart.
I suddenly became restless as I thought of my family who were waiting for me.
I was the last and only male child my father had with my mother before her untimely demise. I had two older sisters who were twins and a stepmom who dotes on me and I hated it.
They make me feel like Terrence, my five year old son.
Just as I was about to pull my phone out of my pocket to call my father, his driver walked up to me with a broad smile.
I reciprocated the smile, noticing the gray hair that had begun to appear on his head and temple.
He had been working for my father since I was a kid. In fact, I grew up knowing him.
"Welcome home son," he said, relieving me of my files and laptop, my only property which I returned with. I had given out my belongings to my neighbors since I wouldn't need them again.
He engaged me in small talks asking about my stay and journey as we headed towards the car.
The journey home was long and tiring.
Things hadn't changed much so I soon got bored of staring out of the window. To keep myself busy, I got my phone out then began to surf the web for random things.
When the driver pulled up in front of my father's mansion, my lips broke into a smile.
"Finally" I said taking a deep breath
"No place like home huh" Carlo, the driver said
"You can say that again" I chuckled
I was feeding my eyes with the environment I had been away from for two years when my sisters called my name in unison.
I turned in their direction, my smile widened. I had missed them so much.
Before I knew what was happening, I was in between them and they were peppering my face with kisses. One thing I was happy about was that we weren't in public else I would have melted like ice.
When dad told me he was sending them to pick me up, I declined at once because of this.
"I've missed you so much" Carmella, the older one said
"Me too" Pamela added
"Okay, can you both let go of me…" I said Carmella released me but Pamela held on as she buried her face in my chest.
"Just let me stay some minutes more" she mussed
"I'm not leaving anytime soon" I replied pushing her away gently
Her face turned into a frown and she began to sulk. To prevent further drama, I pulled her into a bear hug.
"Are we good now?" I asked
"Very good"
While we stood there, Carmella got my laptop and files from the car.
"Let's go in," she said, pushing Pamela away from me and sliding her fingers into mine.
Right there in the sitting room, I met my step mom feeding Terrence with cereals.
Immediately he saw me, he ran towards me with the speed I never knew he had.
I swept him off the floor then began to swirl around as he laughed heartily. I had missed my little baby so much.
"I miss you" I said as I planted a kiss on his forehead
He used sign language which he was still learning to tell me he missed me too. I couldn't wait to hear his voice.
He wasn't born dumb, it was an ailment that took his speaking ability away.
My step mom, Olivia walked up to me then engulfed me and Terrence in a bear hug.
We were still doing our little reunion when dad joined us in the living room. With the way he was dressed, I judged correctly he was heading for work.
"No wonder he refused to stay back" he said
"Dad asked you to stay in Canada huh?" Pamela asked with widen eyes
"I did" dad answered with a little chuckle
She cast him an angry stare before saying
"Glad you didn't accept"
We laughed at her facial expression before heading towards the dining table where the maids had served breakfast.
We talked about random things for a while until dad caught Terrence rubbing my exposed arm.
"What's that?" He asked, wiping the corner of his mouth
"Just a little…" I shrugged
"You got a new tattoo? When are we going to stop inking ourselves?" Mom asked. She always makes a fuss whenever she sees my numerous tattoos.
"It's cute mom" Carmella pouted getting an angry glare from her in return
"I won't ink myself again. I promise" I said in order to end the argument and we returned to our meal
After breakfast, we remained at the table while the maids did the cleaning and washing up.
I placed Jenny on my thigh allowing her to play with my beards which I had refused to shave off.
"Get ready, Rogers will take you around your firms as from next week" dad said and I nodded
He had asked me to return to school for my MBA degree so I would take over his chains of companies while he resigned.
I refused saying I didn't want an inheritance rather I was going to buy them from him.
He agreed and now, he was going to work under me until the end of the year when he was going to resign.
After dad left for work, my sisters began to fill me up with things that happened in my absence.
Terrence had refused to go to school causing mom to use all the techniques she could think of to whisk him away from me but he held on.
We were still struggling when dad returned and everyone turned in his direction wondering what the issue was. "Least I forget. You have two weeks to get married."
