Life has always been short of adventure and excitement for Aimee, her whole life has basically consisted of a boring normal life, the same comfortable environment her whole life. That is until she wrecks her car one evening driving home from work.
"Bye Sierra, see you on Monday or perhaps this weekend?” I smiled sweetly at my best friend who was also the company secretary. Sierra is the same age as me, with a blond pixie cut and blue eyes. She nodded and returned the smile, “I'll let you know what the plans are." I nodded at her and headed out of the building and pulled my jacket tighter around me as the cold air of winter hit me like a ton of bricks. I looked up at the dark clouds forming in the sky; I needed to get home fast before the wrath of the rains came down upon me.
I finally made it to my trusty steed, my two thousand and eight silver Kia Curerro. I managed to buy the car three years ago and finally paid her off two months ago. I worked at a famous newspaper company where I started four years ago after completing my studies at my local university. I am currently single and haven't had any time in my busy life for a man. 'You work too hard Aimee, you need to settle and have kids.' I could already hear my mother's voice lecturing me. Snorting I got into my car and immediately turned up the heat before backing out onto the highway.
I lived not far from work, about 10 miles out against the foot of the forest. It wasn't much, a two bedroom open plan apartment, it worked well for me.
I turned into Grey's Avenue and turned on my music, 'Love yourself' by Justin Bieber came on through the speakers and I groaned, turning it down. The road at this time of the night was very deserted and dark, only a street light every hundred meters giving some light to see by. The house coming up on my left was near my turn with the old willow tree hiding the high fences as it towered over the front of the house. I looked up at the house zooming in on my right hand side, it was a three story big cream house with high wooden gates which was always locked up tightly and there never seemed to be any life there. I was momentarily blinded for a second as two head lights suddenly appeared around the right hand bend, my arm shot up to cover my eyes as I swore loudly at the driver. Uncovering my eyes a silent scream froze on my face as a black hooded figure jumped out onto the road facing me, I had no time to brake as everything happened in seconds. The driver that had blinded me was driving a white Nissan pickup truck and the hooded figure was standing on his side of the road. He suddenly swerved to the right sharply and ended up in my lane heading straight towards me, I jerked the steering wheel to my left to avoid the collision and he swerved to the right again, suddenly flipping his pickup sending it rolling down my street and I ended up face to face with the old willow tree. I screamed and let go of the steering wheel, both arms covering my face as if that would stop the car. The impact was quick but hard as my Kia slammed into the tree, taking out most of the nose and my engine; I jerked forward fast and silently thanked whoever was listening that I was wearing my safety belt. The safety belt however failed to work on impact and I ended up hitting my head on the steering wheel. Everything went black.
I dazedly came up, my hand shot to my head and I looked at fingers seeing red. I looked around me and breathed deeply, this could have been worse. I suddenly remembered the driver of the white Nissan and opened my door quickly jumping out a little bit too fast as I grabbed onto the roof of my car to avoid toppling over. I slowly walked into the road looking both ways for nay cars coming that could assist, yeah right, not this road or this time of night. I sighed loudly and started making my way towards the left turn, silently praying that the driver was OK and not badly hurt.
I started feeling my pockets for my cell phone pulling it out to dial 911.“No need for that.”A voice broke through the silence making me shriek and jump around to face the voice. It was the man that jumped in front of the pickup and I still could not see his face.“Wh-Who a-are y-you?”I stuttered nervously glancing around for a miracle to come and save me.“You don't need to call the cops, I will take you to them.”He replied ignoring my initial question. Why would he take me there? I can't just leave the accident scene I thought to myself.
He walked up to me fast and before I could react he blew onto my face, the next thing I felt was the ground rushing up to meet me. Fast.
