Chapter 2

Rafael’s POV Fair and Slim, a Maiden Youth. Hair and Skin so Pale and Smooth… When you shall see these signs, you have met the mate that is destined as Wife. It was always the same f*****g nursery rhyme! Could the seer not tell me anything better to help me find this mystery woman that was supposed to bear my children and stand at my side as Luna? The thought ran through my head as I walked unhurriedly towards the lounge where beta Ted told the rep of the Silver Arrow pack to wait. Lacy floated into my mind again and I scoffed. Six months into our hidden tryst, I had approached the seer, to find out if she was the one and that was when I was given that f*****g nursery rhyme. She didn’t fit any of those criteria, I should have dropped her then but things were too good for me to stop. I pushed her out of my head, now was not the time to reminisce. Beta Ted walked ahead of me and pushed open the posh lounge door and held it open with a slight bow. I walked into the chilly room, my eyes scanning my guest, a chill went down my spine. She was dressed corporately, a tight-fitting purple satin blouse with the first few buttons undone, exposing a slight cleavage and then a below the knee black skirt that was slit around the left side showing more slender pale thighs. But that was not the most striking thing about her, what took my breath away was the fact that she was blonde and as pale as a corpse. Fair and Slim, a Maiden Youth. Hair and Skin so Pale and Smooth My eyes narrowed as I fought to regain my composure. She got up when I walked in and bowed slightly. Was this actually happening? I took a step closer to her, my body moving of its own volition. She straightened and then stiffened when she noticed how close I was, “Alpha Rafael…” she stuttered, her pitch-black pupils avoiding eye contact with me, “I am from the Silver…” I was not paying attention to anything that was tumbling out of her mouth, I was too stunned, too excited to listen, my heart pounded in my chest. Was it actually coming true? The word of prophecy that I had dubbed a nursery rhyme? So the seer had been right. I took another step closer to her. She tried to move back but I reached out and wrapped my arm around the small of her back. She tensed at my touch and stiffened, “Uhm… this is–” “Shh,” I silenced her as I ran my left index finger against her temple and then down her cheeks. Fuck… her skin was dead pale, no way she was not the one the prophesy spoke of, “What is your name?” “Rosa… Rosa Lillias,” her voice was scarcely above a whisper as she remained tensed, she finally managed to look up at me, her black pupils shimmering with curiosity and fear. I stared down against her, a fiery passion igniting in my heart – I had found what I had been looking for six f*****g months, “Rosa… the goddess brought you to me,” I grunted in a deep guttural voice. Her body shuddered in response to it, “Uhm–” “Don’t say anything! Starting today – you are mine.” She stared at me with a blank expression on her face. I let go of her back and she staggered backwards as if she was drunk and dropped on the sofa. As she did, her short skirt hiked up even further exposing pale sexy thighs. I swallowed as desire surged within me, I wanted to take her there and then but I restrained myself. “Ted, give her anything she wants, make sure she is comfortable,” I said and then headed out. Beta Ted fell in step behind me, “Alpha, what about the Silver Arrow pack?” I spun around to stare him dead in the face, “f**k the Silver Arrow pack!” my voice echoed across the halls. “Do you not realize what just happened?” He stared at me blankly. I exhaled deeply, it wasn’t his fault, I didn’t tell anyone about the prophecy including him. “I have found my mate, Ted. My destined mate!” His eyes widened, “The rep from the Silver Arrow Pack? Alpha Luca is not going to like that very much.” I clicked my tongue dismissively, “I will handle Luca… right now, what I want you to do is to make her comfortable. Make sure she lacks nothing and then assemble the council.” He nodded curtly and then dashed off. I stood in the hallway alone, a beaming smile on my face, I still could not believe it, I had found her! There was going to be absolutely no delay, I needed to marry her as soon as possible but Ted was right. Luca was going to want to make a fuss about me poaching his rep – I needed to deal with him first. **** I was just rounding up the phone call with Luca in my study when a timid knock sounded at the door, I almost didn’t hear it the first time around. “Of course you are going to be invited for the wedding Luca, I cannot leave out such an honored guest,” I laughed heartily. The knock sounded again, catching my attention, I ignored it. Whoever it was should have taken a hint that I either wasn’t on seat or didn’t want to see them, they didn’t. The door yawned open slowly and Lacy poked her head in gingerly, “Alpha?” My gaze narrowed, “Let me call you back, Luca… yeah, something came up. No rest for we alphas… Yeah sure,” I hung up. She gave me a charming smile – something that usually warmed me but I felt nothing. She walked in, dressed in a flowing flower red dress that was just slightly above the knee, that dazzling smile still on her face, “Sorry for the interruption,” she said, “I am here, 8 on the dot, just as you requested.”
