"Hey beautiful. Wake up." I felt warm and relaxed. Liam had his arm around my waist and was gently kissing the back of my neck.
"Kyrie". He said sweetly. His hand began rubbing from my waist to my hip. I couldn't help but let out a soft moan. I rolled over to meet his beautiful eyes.
"Good morning. I hope that you don't mind that I stayed the night. You fell asleep on my arm. You were so beautiful, and peaceful. I couldn't bring myself to wake you up, so I just slept here."
"It's fine." I said. Liam brushed the hair from my face as we lay in my bed.
"I have to go. We have training today. I'd like you to come with me, though."
"Really?"
"Yes. One, you need to train. Two, you need to get familiar with the pack, and three, I want to see what you're made of." He winked at me. I honestly wasn't much of a fighter. Our pack was small, and although we trained, we never really thought we would have to defend ourselves. We weren't really known to have anything or anyone worth fighting over. We kept to ourselves mostly. "So? Will you come with me?"
"Oh! Please Kyrie! I'm dying to get out and have some fun!" Nat pleaded.
"Yeah. Nat is dying to get out for a while." A big grin inched over Liam's face. He shot up out of bed and pulled me up with him.
"Good. I've got to go get changed. So do you. I'll meet you back here in ten minutes."
"Okay." I started to doubt that he would be coming back. Should I actually get ready?
"Hey." He pulled me into his chest, wrapping his arms around me. "I will come back. I can feel your doubt. I know talk is cheap, but I won't let you down this time." I smiled up at him and he began to lean down into a kiss. I pulled away slightly and he paused.
"Sorry. Too soon." He said as he sweetly kissed my cheek instead. "Okay, I'll be right back." He rushed out of my room, practically slamming the door behind him. I was really at a crossroads here. Should I bother getting ready? If he didn't come back, should I go to training alone anyway?
"He will come back." Nat assured me.
"But if he doesn't?"
"Then we march our behinds down there and show him what we're made of." I couldn’t help but giggle. I threw on a pair of tight, black exercise shorts, a neon green sports bra and topped it all off with a green tie-dye crop top. Just as I was throwing my hair in a bun, my door flew open revealing Liam. All he had on was a pair of basketball shorts.
"Ready?"
"Yeah." I quickly threw on my new tennis shoes I had picked up at the mall the other day. Glad that I had purchased them. Working out in cowboy boots didn't seem smart.
We headed down to the training field. The sun was barely peeking up through the tall trees, though the sky was mostly still dark.
"I like to train before it gets too hot out." Liam broke the silence. I could see the silhouettes of other pack members gathered around the field in little groups. I was nervous to be training with a new pack. I had no doubt these guys were much better than I.
"Good morning everyone." Liam made his way to the middle of the field. I stood off to the side behind most of the groups.
"Kyrie Winters is joining us this morning". Liam pointed in my direction and everyone turned to see the new girl. I waved and smiled shyly at them.
"Let's start with some stretching." Everyone circled around Liam and we began stretching as a group.
"One lap around the pack grounds. Human form." Everyone started off in the direction of the woods. I joined in behind the group.
"This will give you a good chance to see the pack boundaries." Liam had caught me. It wasn't hard, I had set a slow pace at the back of the group.
"I thought you would be leading." I half asked, half stated.
"Nope. I like to stay in the back. I help those who are struggling. It's always easier with some encouragement."
"Are you saying I'm going to struggle?"
"No, not at all!" He said, shocked. "I was just saying…"
"It was a joke." I laughed as I cut him off, mid excuse.
"LIAM". A whiny little voice shouted from behind us. This would be the first time Rachel, Liam and I were all together. Aside from meals, we haven't been in the same room together since I got here. Even during meals, we were separated. Liam and Rachel were always together, and I was always off to the side. I rolled my eyes as she jogged up beside him.
"Well Nat, I guess we can forget about training with Liam." I sighed.
"Hey baby. You started without me."
"You were late." Liam snapped.
"Well, I didn't have anyone to wake me up this morning." She tried to guilt him as she shot me a deadly glance. I sped up and mixed with a few of the pack members in front of me.
"I've told you to set an alarm. I'm not your mom Rach. I'm not there to keep track of you." Wow, he was actually telling her off. I heard Rachel whimper and she quickly sped up past me.
"Hi Kyrie". A man next to me said.
"Morning." I huffed back, slightly out of breath. He laughed, and introduced himself.
"I'm Wyatt. Don't worry, we're about half way through." He patted me on the back and smiled. He seemed very friendly. I smiled back.
"Good. I'm not used to working out. My pack didn't train much, so I'm not as in shape as I should be."
"Oh, don't worry about that. Alpha Liam will get you in shape in no time".
"Wyatt. How are you?" Liam was right next to me all of a sudden. I thought for sure he would be following Rachel. I looked up and saw her running towards the front with a group of girls.
"Doing well, Alpha. Just introducing myself to our Luna." He smiled again. It was a very warm, friendly smile and I couldn't help but smile back at him. He was very charming, and we had barely spoken to each other.
"Wyatt is one of our warriors. He's probably the nicest guy you will ever meet."
"Awe, shoot, Liam. You're making me blush." Wyatt joked. The three of us talked and got to know more about each other as we jogged. It was actually a really good time. Wyatt made things easier by asking me a bunch of questions, and I would in turn ask Liam and Wyatt.
"Good job, everyone." We all grouped up around Liam. "Pair up. Let's do some sparring." I turned to Wyatt.
"Partner?" I asked. He gave me an awkward look.
"Won't you partner up with Liam?"
"From the look of it, he's going to partner with Rachel." We turned towards Liam, who had Rachel hanging off his arm. He looked at Wyatt and I, brushed Rachel's hands off his shoulders and said something to her. I couldn't hear what was said, but she pouted and marched off towards her girl group.
"Looks like you have a partner". Wyatt laughed as he turned to pair up with another guy.
"You're my partner, Kyrie." Liam grabbed my waist and pulled me close to him. I was shocked he was actually choosing me over Rachel. I thought I just might actually die of shock right here and now. We spread out in groups and started sparring. I really had no clue what I was doing, but Liam was being so patient teaching me everything. He was teaching me proper form, how to block, and when to strike, and when not too.
"You're actually not bad." He smiled.
"You're just being nice." I said as I threw a hook at his jaw. He leaned back and easily dodged the blow.
"Not bad. But look." He moved my feet apart a little, and reset my hands. "Now, try again. This time, come in a little faster, but not so hard." I tried again, but he was able to dodge it.
"You'll get it." He laughed. We spent the time exchanging more information about ourselves. Little things like your favorite color and favorite food, while I tried to punch him in the face.
"Alright guys". Liam stopped and shouted at the group. "I want everyone to shift. Let's let our wolves spar." Liam shot me a s3xy glance.
"So, this is how you intend to get me naked?" I laughed.
"Well, sort of." He snorted. I wasn't really comfortable stripping down in front of so many people. I looked around and saw everyone shedding clothing and tossing it to the side before they shifted. Rachel stepped out in front of Liam and stripped down to nothing as erot1cly as she possibly could. It was so slow, and so painful to watch. A few of the other members of the pack laughed as they shifted, staring at her.
"Ignore her." Liam pulled my attention back. "I'm trying to." He said. "Look, why don't you stand behind me. I'll cover you."
"Thanks." I said as he stepped in front of me. I shed my top and my shorts, when I heard a low whistle from behind me. I turned to see Liam had snuck a peek.
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself." He chuckled. I whipped off my sports bra and tossed it at him. My chest proudly exposed.
"Damn, girl." He pulled me into his warm body.
"You're all sweaty!" I wiggled free and heard a low growl. Rachel was standing, teeth bared, behind Liam. I was positive she was going to kill me. Liam quickly tossed off his shorts and shifted. In an instant he had Rachel pinned to the ground, teeth just below her throat. He growled deeply and Rachel whined. I shifted and sat down, watching the exchange. Colt snapped aggressively at Rachel's wolf and she recoiled in submission. Colt got up and trotted back over to me. Rachel headed back over to her group, tail between her legs. Colt nuzzled his face against Nat's. She let out a soft whimper. Suddenly, Colt jumped up, growling at Nat. She sat back in confusion. Colt put his head down on the ground, his tail wagging in the air. We weren't of the same pack, so I couldn't mind link Liam, or he me. Nat looked around at everyone else sparring, and we decided to copy them. She stood up in a defensive position. Colt did the same.
"You ready Ky? I got this. Just watch." Nat began pacing a circle around Colt. Colt never took his eyes off us. He lunged forward and Nat lept in the air, dodging Colt's attack. Nat spun around mid air, and landed on Colt's back, sinking her teeth into the back of his neck. In one swift motion she had pulled him to the ground and had him pinned by the chest. His eyes went hazy. Suddenly the rest of the pack took off towards the trees. Colt nipped lightly at Nat's feet. She popped off him and he took off towards the rest of the pack. He stopped just shy of the tree line and looked back at us and howled.
"Go Nat!" I shouted. She took off after Colt who turned and sped to catch up with the rest of the pack.
