1096 Words
A sleek black limo pulled up in front of a small house. The doors pushed open and Enoch and Isaac got down, drawing in the whole environment. There was a little vegetable garden in front of the house . It gave it a neat appearance. They both walked in slowly through the granite path way which led straight to the front door. It seemed to be locked from outside so they took another turned in the quite house to the back ,had they missed her , could it be that she'd left?. Trying not to step on any plant ,they moved carefully through another granite path that hopefully was leading to the back door,if there was any. They heard sounds coming from the back of the house as they approached. it was the sound of water splashing in a shower. They continued in their walk wondering who it was. As they turned into the back of the house, Enoch stopped abruptly as he stared at a lady with her back to them, carefully watering her vegetables and humming a song. His heart started beating fast as he and Isaac exchanged knowing looks,it was her,it was Philippa Macleod . She hadn't seem to notice any one behind her as she busied herself with what she was doing. Enoch tried to steady his heart beat but it kept beating wildly against the wall of his chest . “Philippa” He slowly called She froze immediately and turned. But who could it be , turning slowly her eyes widen and her hands grew numb immediately. Enoch's beating heart stopped racing. Her eyes darted from Isaac to Enoch and back again. “Sorry for scaring you.”Isaac said to the lady who had her hands on her chest. She rested her back against the wall and sighed. “You gentlemen scare the s**t out if me.” Enoch hopes dashed against the rocks He had thought she was the one. There must be a mistake somewhere, she looked different or was he now going blind. Isaac stared at Enoch,he needed him to give a possible explanation to what was going on. He had never met Philippa in person. “Sorry.” Enoch said feeling defeated.”Wrong house.” The he turned to leave when Isaac spoke up. “We came to see Philippe McLeod,my friend here.” The lady's eyes widened. “Philippa, okay…may I know who you are.” Isaac did a brief introduction and she nodded . She ushered them in,there was a smile on her face as she said. “I'm Philippa's colleague at work .” Then she went in to get her. They were both chattering and smiling as they came into the living room. Enoch stood up immediately he saw her. Philippa looked as if she'd seen a ghost, she suddenly went pale. She just couldn't believe her eyes, was that who she thought she was seeing. She looked from one man to another and then her eyes settled on him,the very person she had thought never to see again. Her eyes went over his muscular frame in the suit he wore No,her eyes were definitely playing tricks on her, could he be… “Enoch?” Her voice laced with shock, uncertainty, disbelief, everything at once. “Hello, Philippa” He said. She froze again, his eyes roamed over her,she looked half as beautiful as he'd thought. He went over her shirt and big trousers, her hair was pulled up in a loose ponytail with tendrils of hair hugging the sides of her face. She was breathing hard, her legs were starting to go numb the way her hands did.How did he get here, how did he find her?,the questions were jamming into her head she felt she was going to pass out. “ How..what…” She was starting to say but it just came out in bits . She hoped she was dreaming, she really do hope she was. After so many years she'd given up thinking of him,she gave up waiting for him to come back. “Philippa .” He called softly . “Ask him to leave Lily.” She said to her friend. “Philippa I came to see you….” “ You must be a joker” Philippa blurted out “ I know you have a son and am certain he is mine” He said for the first time Philippa had always wished to hear that throatily deep voice of his but now the anger in her just couldn't stand it. “You left me all of a sudden, without a heads up not even good bye and now you stand here to tell me this crap!”She poured “My father died,I was asked to come back home …I was devastated” “Then you think I wasn't the one who wasn't devastated you left, you ruined my life Enoch.” “Im sorry, Philippa,I truly am. If I take back the hand of time I wouldn't have left you all alone” He said ,”But I need to see my son” She scoffed,”What ever child you saw wasn't yours so you'd better go back to whatever hole you had crawled out from” Anger was beginning to well up inside of him,he wasn't a man sure to have a very calm temper but he didn't want to unleash it on her,not now. “It's been five years I left and am deeply very sorry but it would be unfair for you to keep my child away from me,my son needs his father” “Get out now,I don't have an idea of what you're talking about” She said, looking away “You can't lie to me Philippa,I know you more than anyone else,if am not the father of the boy then who is?”Enoch asked, watching her closely Philippa looked back at him, she obviously wasn't expecting that question, she thought hard and her silence made Enoch smile inwardly,he sure do know her. Just then the door flew open and laughter was heard, they all turned to the direction of the sound. It was Enoch's turn to freeze,a boy holding a basketball ran into the room, his laughter stopped immediately as he saw the visitors. “Mommmy.” Another voice screamed in excitement and all eyes turned towards the direction. The shock on Enoch's eyes could win an Oscar. There running towards him was another version of the little boy he had seen. He almost passed out. He didn't just had a son. He had twin sons.
