Enoch couldn't concentrate, his thought was always on Philippa's No matter how he had tried to let her be as she had wanted .
He found himself always staring at her when she wasn't looking, always found himself admiring her, thinking about her.
Truthfully,he had missed her badly. He wished she was willing to forgive him and let go of the past.
But whenever such thought came up.
The thought of Isabella also rose with it.
He knew he can't keep on sneaking forever.
She was his wife too
She needed to know the truth but it would break her.
He knew it wasn't easy .
But he was getting all he deserved from Philippa but he still wished they could talk it all out.
Yes,he got his heirs but still his heart yarns for her.
She still reminded him of the young girl he had an affair with secretly .
Though he hadn't really loved her, that was because he never knew what love really meant then but now he thinks he was starting to develop feelings for his son's mother.
Philippa splashed water on her face in the bathroom, she sighed looking into her reflection in the mirror.
Enoch and her sons were waiting downstairs for her to eat lunch.
Lily had gone to see her aunt so she had the whole house to Enoch and the boys.
But he had mentioned something about leaving today.
On a second thought she decided to go down else she might have her food brought to her by Enoch. But she didn't want to see him, she'd tried and successfully avoided him over the week .
She feared her heart might melt if she saw him, just like the day he had kissed her.
She was starting to see him ,not just as her sons father but as the young man she had genuinely loved as a girl.
She splashed water again on her face then gently patted her face dry with a hand towel.
She was going to see him today and if possible have a meaningful conversation with him, only because her children would be seated there too.
Philippa decided to let go of everything that had happened,it had happened and she can't change it.
She would give him a second chance .. besides it was still because of her children ,their happiness and their future.
She can't let her pain be obvious to them, like he'd said, they deserved a better life, the type of life she had never had .
She turned off the faucet and walked to her adjoined room.
She stopped at the door to smoothen her flowery flowing skirt then started her walk to the dinning.
The boys sat playing with their spoons , waiting patiently for their mother but Enoch's mind was far off.
He was wondering if she wasn't going to come down,he wouldn't know what else to do if she decided not to.
Perhaps,he would as usual take her food up to her and have to knock for minutes till his knuckles hurt,he was going to wait a little bit longer.
He remembered when he had usually come knocking with her food ,she usually had a tear stained face , sniffing and trying to sound as if she had been sleeping but he was too old to be fooled in that way.
He sighed, wanting to turn to his sons to tell them to go ahead to eat when the door pushed open gently.
They all turned in unison to the door to see her standing with a look like one who was not certain if she was in the right room.
“Come, mommy. Our food is getting cold” Aiden called to her .
Philippa quickly walked to the table , putting as much effort as she can to avoid Enoch's stare.
“Im so sorry sweetheart,” she apologized, moving from one boy to the other to plant a kiss on both their cheeks before drawing a chair opposite them to sit.
Enoch watched her do this and smiled to himself.
This was just the way it was supposed to be.
One big family.
If he hadn't messed things up.
But there was always room for second chance.
“Thought you wouldn't come down to have lunch with us” Enoch said, “I was thinking of bringing your food up to you”
“ Im sorry,” she said not looking up at him,”I was washing up”
“ It's okay,am not offended”He smiled at her.
Surprisingly, she looked at him and smiled back. They started eating in silence, ignoring the boys as they played with their vegetables.
She just hoped that Lily would come back as soon as possible.
It was kind of weird sitting here with Enoch after five long years.
“I will be leaving soon.”
He announced.
She kind of rolled her eyes.
“You have told me already.” She said.
He cleared his throat and continued eating.
He ate slowly and was grateful for everything.
At least he could die in peace now .
But he needed to take them back with him.
They would feel the fatherly love hovering around them.
“I would like you to come with me.”
This kind of threw her off balance but she said nothing.
“I really don't think so.” She said popping a piece of vegetables into her mouth and chewed slowly.
“I understand.”
He made to say something when a knock landed on the door
“Aunt Lily.” The older of the twins said in excitement jumping down from his chair and ran to the door even before Philippa could stop him and to the door herself.
“Mommy.” He called from the door.
“A lady is here.”
“Relax.” Enoch said.”Let me do this.”
With little hurried steps Enich walked to the door ,he ruffled Aaron's hair before he willed his eyes to travel up from the shoes and up to the face.
It was impossible.
This was unbelievable, something he never would imagine could happen.
His face ashen ,as all possible drop of blood drained completely from his face.
“Isabella.” He called softly.
She gave a thin smile and tilted her head.
“How are you doing, husband?”
