Chapter 21: A Diaz Scheme

2304 Words
I look like such a mess after what Alvarez and I had done in his office. Lunch was almost over, and he was still cleaning me up while I covered my face, still burning at his touch. What happened…was completely my fault. I’m not going to blame him for it, but I really hate the way he likes to do it in a very messy way! And when I say messy, it literally means making me look all disheveled… “My hair and makeup looks like s**t…” I muttered when I finally got the chance to look at myself in the mirror. “I’ll get your bag. I assume you have your makeup there?” I raised my hand to stop him. “I can do it myself. It’s fine.” “And your clothes? Your skirt’s filled with you-know-what.” “Don’t give me that, you fucker. You’ve got to buy me clothes.” “How the hell would I know which ones to pick?” “I don’t know! That’s not my problem now! I’m not going out looking like this!” “Then don’t go out.” I could only look at Alvarez like I couldn’t believe what he said…because I actually couldn’t! We fooled around together, so it’s partly his fault we both look like s**t right now. It’s easy for him because he has a pair of clothes in his office, but that’s not the case for me! “Just wear it or whatever. I’ll give you my blazer,” he told me as he waved his hand, dismissing the conversation. “You’re horrible!” “You’re not one to talk!” I sighed and remained sitting on the couch, afraid my legs would betray me the moment I tried to stand on two feet. Alvarez noticed my discomfort and sighed, obviously still in a daze. “Look, I honestly don’t know what to do here.” “It’s not fair…” I muttered as I looked at him from head to toe. He groaned in frustration and leaned on his desk. “What now?” “Why is it just your hair?! How come your clothes are still fine while mine looks so damned crumpled?!” He still looks so good...while it’s the complete opposite for me! I find it so unfair that I feel like I’d go over to him and crumple his clothes. Damn, that would be nice, but it’s not the time to fantasize! “It’s not my fault, okay? f*****g brat…” he muttered as he ran his fingers across his hair. “You initiated and I just followed because you were basically trying to control me!” “I know, but…!” I glared at him. “f**k you.” “You already did.” “You’re annoying!” “Just wear my blazer and go out. Stop being a brat, Diaz.” I checked the time on my watch and realized there was not much time until work hours were over. Maybe I should just suck it all up and go out with his blazer. Of course, it wouldn’t fit…but it’s better than nothing. Know what? I’m going to start keeping clothes here in case something like this happens. I’m not looking forward to it happening again, but we can never be too sure about his libido and mine. I sighed and stood up so I could snatch the blazer from his hand. I sprayed my perfume all over to make sure they wouldn’t smell anything from me that could add to their suspicion. Now, I’m just praying they didn’t hear us outside. “My office is soundproof. I can assure you that they didn’t do anything,” he told me as I was contemplating going out. “And before you start jumping to conclusions, no, I never f****d anyone here.” “I wasn’t even asking!” “I know you, Diaz. You were probably thinking that.” “Yeah, I was, but I don’t really care.” “Sure.” I shot Alvarez one last glare before finally getting out. As expected, I received countless unreadable expressions from the employees outside Alvarez’s office. Damn… I looked down as I made my way to my office, trying not to stumble. Again, it’s my fault that this is happening, so I can’t blame this on him. I was wrong when I said I could ride him when I knew my legs weren’t ready! Ah, how annoying! When I got back to my office, Vin was looking at me with such an annoying expression. The asshole was staring at me as if I had just committed a horrible crime! Maybe I did, but it’s not that heinous! I sighed and relaxed on my office chair. “Stop staring at me, you fucker.” “What did you two do?” “Nothing.” “Nothing, my ass.” “Even if we did, it’s none of your business.” Vin grinned at me as he took his phone out and played online games. See? This is why I don’t understand him most of the time. He would often tease me and when I responded, he’d smile as if he had just gotten the response he wanted from me! It’s infuriating! Instead of brooding over something stupid, I decided I should just continue working as nothing uneventful is happening yet. But as I was trying to get it done, I caught Vin eyeing me a few times. “What’s your deal?” I asked as I crossed my arms over my chest. “Hmm, nothing. Just curious.” I sighed and arranged the papers. “About what?” “About Gray Alvarez. I thought you hated the guy.” “And I thought I told you not to meddle.” “So you are, in fact, doing something behind our backs…” he trailed off as he narrowed his eyes at me, obviously wanting to say more, but tried to stop himself. “No, I’m not,” I denied as I continued working. “Stop acting like a know-it-all, Vin.” “Sha, I know you more than anyone does. If there’s anyone out here who knows how cunning you’ve always been, that’s me.” Vin was right about that part, but I haven’t even done anything yet. Of course, I ought to do something once I’ve made sure that everything will fall into its rightful place, but now is not the time for that. I only smiled at Vin as I proceeded to type what I needed to on the computer. After working on this, I’ll go ahead to the parking lot…and see how things would turn out if I spiced them up a little. I am simply doing this for entertainment…and, of course, to see how Alvarez would react. He said he’d never dare to physically hurt me, but we’ll see once I push his buttons further. The truth is, I’m afraid he’d make me into a battered wife in the long run…if it comes to that. I’ve got to find out if he’d beat me up if I do something that’s actually going to make him furious. I didn’t want to risk anything, especially when we’re in public…but I had to. Worst-case scenario, the public will witness it unfold before them. And fortunately for me, time flew by like a breeze. Vin knew I was planning something, so he followed me to stop me in case I did something terrible. It’s fine. It’d work best for me if he were to be there if things went south. Anyway, I knew Alvarez would be following in a few minutes, so I went ahead by myself. Or with Vin, whatever. I’m pretty sure Raven will be in the basement by now, so everything is on time. “Oh, you’re here…” I muttered as I passed by Raven on my way to Alvarez’s car. He looked back at me while he was fumbling with his keys. “Oh, Sapphire— Oops…” he muttered as he looked around. “Is it okay to call you that?” I chuckled as I approached him. “Yeah, of course.” “Sha…” Vin called from behind. “I don’t like what you’re doing.” I ignored Vin on purpose and focused on Raven. “How have you been? We never got to catch up earlier.” He smiled, the same smile he used to show me when we were still together. “Good. Things have been going well for me since graduation. You?” “It was fine until recently. I assume you already knew what happened?” “Yeah. I hope things are going well for you now,” he replied as he leaned on his car. “Your husband’s nice to you, I can see that.” “Mm-hmm. Everything’s going well, thanks to him.” Raven stared at me as if he was trying to see through me, which he could easily do before. No, he can no longer do that after that separation years ago. I bet he’d say he almost failed to recognize me. “You have changed a lot…” he muttered as he looked down and shook his head. “A lot better than when you were with me. I’m glad he’s taking care of you.” Ha! If only he knew! The one who took care of me was myself, and myself alone! Alvarez? That guy has been a huge help, but he only ever takes care of me after we do it! In fact, he’s too much of a scumbag! But I’m a great actress. Even now, I’m still acting out my part in this marriage. Of course I’d say my lines…even though they make me want to vomit from the inside. I smiled at Raven. “Of course. He can be quite territorial, but he’d always give me the best he can give me.” “That’s nice to hear–” “Hey.” Oh, here he is! I smiled and took a step back so I could be near Vin. Alvarez was looking at me with an impassive expression, as if he wanted me to explain on the spot or he’d drag me to the depths of hell. As I crossed my arms over my chest and introduced him to Raven, he subtly glared at me. The moment of truth will be inside his car, and I really can’t wait! “I’m not sure you remember me, but I’m one of the team handling the latest project,” he told Alvarez as he flashed a polite smile. “I’m late, but congrats on your marriage.” “Thanks,” Alvarez replied as he walked ahead of us. I pursed my lips and said goodbye to him. “See? Territorial as fuck.” “You better put in a good word for me,” he joked as he shook his head, looking scared. “I’ll handle it,” I replied to him as I saluted before following Alvarez to his car. “Wait for me!” “Walk faster, dumbass.” Oh, he’s mad. Again. I smiled sheepishly at him as I got inside the car, prepared for my explanation. Of course, he sure didn’t look like he wanted my explanation, but it’s all necessary– “Diaz,” he called as he looked outside the window. “I’m not going to hurt you just because of that.” “What…?” Alvarez sighed as he shifted his gaze at me. “I know you…and I knew exactly what was on your mind when you suddenly approached that asshole.” “And? That doesn’t mean your hunch is right. I just wanted to catch up with him.” “No, you didn’t. I was already watching you two before you even saw me. You didn’t look interested while you were conversing.” I pursed my lips and looked away. “Not enough evidence. Your statements are way too subjective.” Alvarez groaned and started the engine of his car. “Not everything requires logic, dimwit.” “Don’t call me that when you’re an airhead!” “Stop talking to yourself,” he replied, smirking. I rolled my eyes and sank on my seat, nonchalantly removing my shoes as I made myself comfortable. He’s such a know-it-all when he doesn’t even know anything. Yeah, he was right, but not about everything. “But I’ve got to let you know that I’m upset,” he told me as he drove away from the building. “About what?” “About you assuming I’d hurt you and for trying to make me jealous.” I raised a brow, teasing. “Were you, though?” “No. I just hated the way he looked at you. If we weren’t legally married, he would have tried to steal you away from me,” he told me, rolling his eyes. “And I’m still annoyed with you acting like a brat during lunch.” “What gives?! You liked what I did, anyway!” “Why don’t you do it again to make it up to me?” “Go f**k yourself.” “I’d rather you did it for me.” “Shut up.” “Make me.” I sighed and tried to kick him, but failed miserably. “You’re extra annoying now that you’re back on track…” I muttered, making sure he wouldn’t hear it. “What?” “I said your d**k’s small.” He looked flabbergasted at what I said, almost enough for him to pull over and show. “Wait until we get home, and I’ll show you. I doubt you understand the concept of size.”
