Lucas whirled around and bolted, his small hand gripping Amy's tightly as they sprinted forward. He had no clue where they were headed, but all that mattered was finding his Mommy and Allen.
"Where do you think you're going?" a voice barked behind them.
"Let us go! If you won't save Mommy, I'll do it myself!" Lucas's face was a mask of fury, his tear-filled eyes blazing with a fierce glare, his small mouth shouting the word "Mommy" with desperate insistence. As soon as the word escaped his lips, he seemed to realize his mistake and clamped his mouth shut.
But this time, William, who usually had a short fuse, surprisingly didn't blow up at the repeated cries of Mommy. He shot Lucas a cold, dismissive look before roughly hauling both Lucas and Amy into the car.
