Steve gradually woke up. As his mind slowly came into focus, a smile crossed his face. Without opening his eyes, he reached out but encountered an empty bed. He lifted his head and looked at the clock, squinting to bring it into focus. Six in the morning. Apparently, his new bride rose before the dawn. That might take some getting used to. He found the suitcase he’d packed yesterday sitting open on a padded bench at the foot of the king-sized bed. He dug through it, retrieving what he needed. After slipping on a pair of sweatpants, he left the bedroom, walking barefoot down the hall. He could see Harmony through the glass door from the top of the stairs.
