Charles Richard Galton stood in the checkout line and watched his mother insipidly babble with the woman in line in front of them. He couldn’t stand these weekly grocery shopping trips, even though she’d taken him on them every single Thursday for his entire life. While he tried to look anywhere but at her and that cart filled with the best boxes and packages of food America had to offer— because only the best and gluten free and organic and sustainable would do for her little Charlie Brown—he found his gaze resting on the cover of a tabloid newspaper. The headline “Heaven Meets Hell” filled the top of the tabloid above a picture that deeply shocked him. What was this? Some kind of hoax? He wanted to snatch the paper up and read it, but he didn’t want to draw his mother’s attention to it
