Two boys can be seen walking leisurely towards their next lecture. Their faces were a mixture of tiredness and weariness lacking any form of enthusiasm as they trudged among the masses towards their next lecture. This was due to them taking a nap during their previous class. Honestly, they weren't to blame. The cold and dark weather made it impossible for them to resist the urge, especially when they had both been awake through the previous night due to a project assignment.
Their names were Reece and dane. They were in their 2nd year of college with their majors being software engineering and robotics respectively.
Amid their weariness, they engaged in casual talk, boarding from one discussion to another like they were on a train with no destination in sight. Despite this, they were able to find an atmosphere for a discussion and enjoy each other's company.
This was due to both of them being introverts and having lots of things in common. They had met during their first years in college and had instantly clicked, almost immediately becoming the best of friends.
"Oh yeah... dude, you know last night during our research, I received an extremely weird call", Reece began out of the blue.
"What!!!" dane exclaimed, caught off guard and yet, intrigued.
Both of them had stopped buying some food from some vendors and Dane was making the necessary payment.
"Yeah... the guy had said I should be ready or something. He also said that I was chosen to receive something today... I think," Reece continued.
"Okay?" dane replied, without knowing how to reply.
"It was after we had completed the project, and I was completely exhausted, so I was barely listening and went to sleep."
"I don't see how that should bother you. It's probably a wrong number or some crazy guy", Dane assured.
"Yeah probably, but when I tried to call back the same number, the network service told me the number didn't exist."
"That is weird... Do you know when to expect this package?"
"I think the man said 10:30. Or was it 10:50?..." Reece contemplated.
"Well, it's almost 10:30. A minute to go" Dane said, as he looked into his watch.
"Yeah. Well, it doesn't bother me. Like, who calls a person at 4 in the morning? He was lucky I was so drowsy that I answered his call instinctively." Reece said, and coincidentally looked at the cloudy skies above him, courtesy of the rain that had fallen upon the land the previous night and the morning.
The skies, though, seemed to twirl and twist above him like a tornado. Despite this, he decided to do his best to forget the weird experience and head towards his next lecture, not knowing that when the clock struck 10:30, his life would be changed forever.
