The music was loud and pounded in my chest as I walked through the crowded club. Bright lights flashed everywhere, and it smelled like alcohol and sweat. I came here tonight to forget about my job as Beta. I just wanted to be Raymond, not the second-in-command of the Silver Moon Pack.
That’s when I saw her sitting at the bar.
She had long, dark hair and the saddest eyes I’d ever seen. Even in the dim light, I could tell she didn’t belong here. I wanted to buy her a drink and maybe make her smile.
