Chapter 8 Scotty

2055 Words
Scotty POV The little wolf scowled as she traced my form from head to toe. Now her bright eyes were on me, she seemed younger than I had originally thought. Her dusty blond hair cropped short and her ears pierced at random parts. Ian had been right when he called her pretty but her features confusing. Feminine and masculine. As though the wolf was both or neither. A tattoo of a black snake sat perfectly in the centre of the throat. Her skin fair but tanned. The amber eyes alluring. If I had been at a bar I would have tried to hit on the wolf who continued to intrigue me. "I'll be asking the questions. You're on my territory." Justin growled. "Huh. You're rogues. You don't have territory. What kind of place is this? What kind of Rogues are you? Who are you?" The last question directed to me again. "Scotty." I answered shrugging my shoulders as I leaned against the door frame. "I don't know a Scotty." The little wolf crinkled her brow. "But..." "Listen, little girl..." Justin started but a growl rumbled the cabin room and Justin's Alpha wolf rose in anger at the challenge. The room instantly feeling tense as they stared at one another. "Don't call me 'little girl'." The wolf snarled, using a mocking voice at 'little girl'. "What do we call you then?" I tried to sound light hearted. I hate this situation, something not feeling right. "Nothing. You filthy Rogue." Amber eyes growled back. Ian who had sat down quietly observing the scene growled and slowly rose from his seat. The air thick and the wolf who had sat up in bed went wide eyed as she watched my large best friend unfold and tower over everyone. "What are they feeding you Rogues around this part? You're... MASSIVE." Amber eyes stared and extended their arms out wide to exaggerate their point. Ians stone scowling face broke as he bellowed a laugh. The tension breaking slightly. "Didn't anyone ever tell you not to challenge an Alpha or to piss off Rogues." Ian asked with his large hands on his hips. Laughter bubbled up in my throat as I watched him chastise the wolf. He had never been the responsible one. His temper always getting the better of him in every situation. Both of us together were trouble, managing to get into more trouble than out of it. This new version centred around his mate and the fact that he found his true self. His inner demon wolf. The Eclipse wolf. "What are you smirking at?" Ian asked me. "Nothing." I held up my hands in surrender. "Are you two lovers?" Amber eyes pointed back and forth to me and Ian. "No you little rascal. I have a fated mate." Ian sneered. The laugh I had been holding into escaped and filled the room. Ian using 'little rascal' finishing me off. "Does he always speaks like that?" Amber eyes asked not taking her eyes of Ians huge mass. "No. If it were a couple of months ago he would have removed your head from your shoulders. He's all loved up and soft as puppy s**t now." I laughed. "Hey." Ian scolded me. "Boys." Justin sounded exasperated. Looking over my leader who continued to rub his eyes with the palm of his hands in frustration. "OK." I turned to Amber eyes. "We are a motorcycle club made up of Rogues. Justin here is an Alpha wolf so naturally our president. Leader. Alpha of our family. Although inside this club he prefers his name or president. Ian here is one of the original Rogues that started this MC. He is also a different type of wolf. You already know I'm Scotty and you followed me here. So now I answered your questions. Who are you and what do you want?" I took in a deep breath and kept my eyes on the wolf. "So you're not a pack of Rogues. Whats the difference between a pack and MC?" Amber eyes sounding genuinely interested. "What kind of prison cell is this?" The wolfs shoulders slumped a little showing my plan had worked. The wolf started to relax, feeling comfortable surrounded by us. "We are not in a prison cell. This is one our members home."I explained and I watched Amber eyes cheeks redden in embarrassment at the insult. "So I'm not a prisoner?" Ati sounded so innocent. I shook my head. "A guest." For now although i didn't add that nugget of information. "The MC is a democracy not a dictatorship, well most of the time. We have meetings in church about important things. Justin sits as president. His vote carries more weight sometimes or he will make the final decision if its split. Normally in a pack the Alpha makes all the important decisions. Even after consulting his advisors, all members of the MC get a say not only a beta and high ranking wolves. Here the president can be out voted." I explained. "But that's what an Alpha is for, to make the tough decisions." Amber eyes still looking confused. "Rogues are either born or come from packs. It's harder for an Alpha to take control of a pack of Rogues. To 'make them' conform. It causes friction. Especially after some of the wolves have had bad experiences with packs and Alphas." I grabbed the rickety chair and dragged it closer throwing my leg over it. The atmosphere in the room eased into calmness and even Ian sat back down. Justin continued to observe from the door way. This wolf didn’t pose a threat, not yet, not until they left or reported to the pack. In these circumstances we needed to make friends. I needed to make an alliance seeing I was the stupid wolf that brought another complication to our doorstep. Just when my fated mate had played a significant part in the last war. "What about the surrounding packs? The City packs?" Amber eyes asked Justin. "We make alliances just like different packs do or we know not to enter certain territories. We are not here to pillage the villages. We are here to make a home. Every wolf deserves that." Justin looked at the floor, sadness in his voice. "I like that." Amber eyes whispered to their self. Silence fell on the room once again but the guys had cottoned on to my plan. They made themselves look more interested in their hands or phone. Ian actually looking at pictures, probably of his mate by the look on his soppy face. Bloody goofy i***t. The silence spread on and my heart rate increased as fear started to creep in. Amber eyes could have alerted their pack. Had I made a mistake. I did with Zeke. I instantly trusted him. Being my fated mate, he had been made for me. The final puzzle peice of my soul to make me whole. I hadn't thought twice about unconditionally putting all my hope and trust in him. Fuck. I'm an i***t. *yes you are* Ian stated through the mind link. I looked up to see Ian smirking at me. *Donald duck* I knew the name would wind him up. He had been shot, in the butt, when he had a run in with a strange pack in the hills. He walked like Donald duck for a month. *Goofy* Ian retorted and made the goofy laugh. *You're just a massive camel toe* I smiled wide at him. Justin stood abruptly, narrowed his eyes at us and then left the room. Unable to sit and listen to us bicker. He trusted that we would make this right and that alone lowered my heart rate. While own little show had taken place, Amber eyes continued to stare at me. The little wolf eye me and Ian in turn. The silence slowly killing me. "Ati." The room so silent the word made me and Ian startle. What the hell is an ati? "Ati?" I asked. "That's my name. Not 'Little girl'. I'm not little and I don't identify as a girl." Ati proclaimed. Ian looked puzzled. "But you are a girl." Ati eye rolled at Ian, clearly this not being the first time having to explain this proclamation. Ati shifted a little uncomfortable looking over at me and I smiled. Nodding my head and clearly making Ati feel at ease. "Biologically, yes. Born a female. My identity never really fit into the binary of being female or male. Biological s*x is not the same as gender. Gender can be fluid. Yes. I'm more gender fluid. So you can feel mix of both or neither genders." Ati looked almost embarrassed. "Non-binary." I nodded and looked over at Ian. I could see Ians brain working over time but he didn't say a thing. He had learnt just like me that wolves should get to decide who they wanted to be. We never had an issue with that as long as they had a good intentions. Ati looked at me with wide eyes. Shock plastered the wolfs cute face. "We don't live under rocks you know. Us Rogues meet all sorts of people. From all walks of life." I smiled. Ati nodded. "I'm from the Mac Tíre Pack. The pack you happened to waltz onto and then Alpha sent me to track you down. Wants you back. Alive I might add which is strange." Ati explained. Mac Tìre being Irish for son of the courty or countryside. That part of me a little rusty over the years. No wonder I felt at ease in that area. I can't believe I ventured the far across the land. My wolf feeling the pull to go home more now than ever. We had always gone that way but never that far. Nevet close to any irish packs. let alone actually venturing into an Irish pack. Facing my past had been my greatest fear. Matilda popped into my mind once again. Her giggle echoed in my mind. Ati looked to be a little older but I knew the packs in that area held strong alliances. Well that's what my father had believed. Some were false alliances. "Mac Tìre." I couldn't recall the name of any pack that held that particular name. We used to have large functions with the surrouding packs and I'd play with children from the surrounding packs. Had Ati been one of them or had Ati been too young and kept in the nursery with Matilda. Matilda. Her name squeezed my heart. Alpha Eamon had shot her down like a dog along with my parents. She had been innocent. Barely lived. How could she have been a threat to him? Anger poured out of me like a toxic liquid. "Wow. Easy fella." Ian called out placing a hand on my shoulder. I calmed instantly. "Don't like the celtic wolves?" Ati asked. "Its a long story. Do you know the Celtic Faolan pack? Are they close to your pack?" I partially hoped Ati knew nothing but her flinch and wide eyes told me otherwise. "How do you know that name?" Ati asked. "Like I said. It's a long story." I looked away unable to keep eye contact, unable to explain. "It used to be my pack." Ati whispered almost ashamed to say the words. "But we are never to speak of that name. It was banned by the Alpha." "Your Alpha?" I asked, my palms sweaty. Had I unknowingly ventured onto my old pack lands? The territory that is my by birth right? This had to be my wolfs doing. Always seeking to go home. That mixed either my need to avenge my parents and sister had always been a recipe for disaster. "No. The Alpha King. Alpha King Eamon." Ati explained as of it was the most obvious and easiest answer int he world. Unknowingly Ati had stuck a knife right through my chest and into my soul, wounding me like no other. My head felt as though it would explode. My heart beat right into my mouth. "A f*****g King? That ditty scumbag is a bastard King?" Ian exploded. Ians promises of swearing less gone completely out the window as life seemed to drain from my actual body. How could a Rogue get revenge on a King?
