Episode 1: A Chance Encounter
Aria pressed the elevator button for the fifth time, tapping her fingers against her thigh with a restless rhythm. Moving to a new city was supposed to be a fresh start, a chance to leave behind the heartbreak, the regrets, and the quiet ache she carried in her chest. She wasn’t looking for anyone, not tonight, not ever. And yet, life had a way of surprising her when she least expected it.
The elevator doors opened, and she almost collided with him. Tall, with dark tousled hair and eyes that seemed to notice everything, he steadied her with a gentle hand. “Are you okay?” His voice was calm, almost melodic, and for a moment, Aria felt the tension in her shoulders ease.
“I’m fine,” she muttered, adjusting her bag and avoiding his gaze. But she couldn’t help it — something about him made her heart stutter, a rhythm she hadn’t felt in years.
He smiled, not arrogantly, but softly, as if he understood something unspoken. “First time living in the city?” he asked, tilting his head slightly.
Aria nodded, unsure why she found herself answering strangers tonight. “Yeah. Just… starting over.”
He nodded, as though he understood every hidden meaning behind her words. Then, with a polite yet lingering smile, he stepped aside and let the doors close.
As the elevator hummed upward, Aria leaned back against the wall and exhaled. Her mind replayed the encounter over and over. Who was he? And why, for some inexplicable reason, did she feel as if she had just brushed against a season she wasn’t ready to name yet?
