I sat at my desk, studying the emails Amara had forwarded to me. It was beginning to seem frivolous, discussions of profit margins and bottom lines. There was too much going on outside of the business world to be able to truly focus on that stuff. I scrubbed a hand through my hair, aware I was making a mess of it, but I couldn't be bothered. It was late, everyone had already gone home for the day. If I wasn't perfectly groomed for once, no one would notice. The door to my office swung open, startling me just a little. I only looked up from my computer, determined not to let anyone see me caught off guard. Amara stepped through the door, a concerned look on her face.
