I slipped back to the entryway, standing by the front door. The quiet meeting that was happening in the living room seemed to be private, and I suddenly felt like a fool for insisting I would come. Kati burst in the door, pausing when she saw me. "Is he here?" she asked, concerned. "They're all in the living room," I directed. I couldn't decide which man she might be asking about, but all of the men that I knew mattered were gathered around Matt in the living room. She pulled me into a quick hug and then rushed to join them. I could hear the shrill sound of her voice as she joined them, listening to her fuss over each one of them. There was a soft knock on the door, and I pulled it open immediately. "Harper," the woman introduced herself. It seemed to be the only greeting she knew.
