The look on Amara's face was a mixture of disappointment and hope. I couldn't determine exactly what she was feeling, and I was afraid to ask for further details. I knew I had interrupted whatever she needed to tell me. If it was important, I knew she wouldn't let this stop her.
As I boxed up my food and paid for the meal, I waited for her to finish telling me. Surely, there was some way for her to say whatever she needed to say. However, she only ever made pleasant conversation with the wait staff and asked me what our next move was.
