Summoning the summoner

A new day

Eric took Lester out to his favorite boulder and placed him in a sitting position facing him. Within 1 min of sitting himself down on the boulder a woman and her husband screech “Free th-“ the words caught in their throat as they saw the oversized sloth staring at them. Looking at each other they thought to themselves ‘is that what they are hiding? not aliens?” before they could swing their weapon Lester used his ability and slowed them down. He quickly stood up and bear-hugged them until Eric’s mother. Looking at the two intruders she could obviously tell that they were in heaven snuggling in Lester’s fluffy arms. Unfortunately for them in a few seconds they won’t remember their special encounter with him. Within seconds they were knocked out and their memories wiped clean. Kitty showed up seconds later and took the two intruders to the city border and quickly returned home.

Lester looked to his left to see if Master eric was okay and to his surprise Eric was staring at him. His eyes wide open as if his eyeballs would fall out of its sockets and his jaw nearly touching the ground. Lester seemed a bit confused yet embarrassed not knowing why Master Eric was gawking at him.

Eric’s POV

I watched as Lester “Quickly” got up and bear hugged the two intruders. ‘what in the world? how is he moving so fast? I thought he was just some usless slow sloth!’ I thought to myself but I was clearly mistaken. He had many more secrets to share. I felt a bit embarrased that I didn’t even give him a chance to showcase and explain himself I quickly judged him based off of “human research” Still trying to process what I had just witnessed I began to feel more regretful at the way I treated Lester before even getting to know him. My sister was right and she got to know him before even judging him if she even judged him at all. I felt like such a JERK and such a fool to be so shallow. The almighty chose him for me and I didn’t even give it a second thought. I also gave of such a bad first impression to Lester and all he’s ever been was patient with me. I really didn’t deserve a partner like him. As I was deep in thought a wary voice began to speak “Ma- Master eric? Everytime we sit on this boulder you seem to get attacked? I’m assuming it is your favorite boulder but knowing it attracts these intruders why not move to another one?”

Hearing his question and reason it made sense so I honestly answered his question. “Well Lester I don’t want to move because as you said this is my favorite spot. Besides no matter where I go the intruder shows up so there really is no sense in moving spots. This is also the only boulder under a tree so since I keep getting targeted why not just stay in a place with shade right?” As I finished my sentence Lester just nodded his head. “Very good point master Eric.” Lester smiled.

Lester’s POV

Master eric gawked at me. It was really weird but for some reason I felt a sense of pride wash over me. Then I saw his expression afterward as if he had some kind of regret. I didn’t want to see the look of sadness on his face so I quickly decided to think of a question to ask which was something I was also wondering about. But I was surprised at the way he answered my question. It was sincere and kind. Not the snobby tone he usually uses with me. Maybe I should have shown off earlier and he would have been nicer to me.... maybe even worshiped me. but then again I didnt want to be shallow. I wanted him to like me for me and not because of what I could do.

This seemed to be a pretty good start. I can feel a little bit of a bond but I’m still unsure yet. maybe this is just a phase that might not last long...

Not too long after daydreaming I was interuppted. “So how did you do that?” Master Eric asked. “Do what? I replied nonchalantly.

“How did you move so fast?”

I sat down and took a deep breath. “Well Master Eric. when I slow other people down with my ability I can take some of theirs. In this case it’s like a trade as long as they are under my control. I gave them my slow speed and took their normal speed.” When I looked at Master Eric he had a big smile on his face “So does this mean I dont have to carry you downstairs anymore?”
