I Wish The Dead Will Rise

I sat on the swing, pushing myself, playing all by myself. The cool breeze kept tempting me to sleep. Just then I heard a very loud scream. I jumped and ran towards the direction of the scream.

I saw my Dad and My Mum. My Dad jumped into a nearby river and swam fast to the border and ran into a very thick bush. My mum followed suit, jumped into the same river, swam fast to the border and ran into the same bush. I rushed to follow then but was stopped by some able bodied young men. I cried

Mother, Father...leave me let me go to them na

not now, not now they said, and u pushed them away with great force...

Just then, I woke up from sleep, so I have been dreaming all along. I ran into my parents room to look for them, I didn't find them, I pinched myself. They weren't back yet. Yes they love their work so much that they leave the house as early as 6am and come back as late as 10-11pm but it was 12am already and they weren't back. I got scared when I remembered my dream.

I picked my phone and gave them a call but their phone was switched off. I fell asleep again and had the same dream. As I jumped off the bed my siblings, Dr Noble and Engr Bright came in.

I was shocked.

What have they come for? For them to leave their houses far away to rush back home this night meant something. My dream flashed my mind again, my heart skipped a beat and I went to them.

Noble, Bright what have you come for?

Dad and mum they said

No..No they are not dead I said

how did you know? they asked

eeh? what? you mean the dream I had just now came to past?

oh! you dreamt it, come with us to the mortuary then.

my heart suddenly got filled with water, stone, needle, wood, broken bottles, my head exploded, I screamed and collapsed.

I woke up a month later but it seemed like a slept for a day. As I sat up, I looked around and asked what brought me here

nothing oo, you brought yourself here, one crazy nurse replied and they laughed.

The door opened and two young men walked in, they looked familiar but I couldn't fix where I met them before.

Who are you? why are you looking at me? I asked.

I continued forgetting people's face, even when George cane in, I didn't recognize him until he reintroduced himself.

Christabel and my Schoolmates also reintroduced themselves. The doctor said it's temporary Anaemia.

On the day of my parent's Funeral, I didn't shed a single tear. I kept quiet as everything was going on. My Schoolmates and Teachers came, I welcomed them I stayed calmly at a corner.

Later on, I chatted and laughed with Christabel and others until the time for the burial came.

I stood as they lowered my parents to the grave. As Noble being the first son took the shovel and poured sand on the caskets my head turned upside down . I was laughing unhesitatingly. I felt my hands flying in the air and my legs pushing me to run. I saw Dad's spirit and mum's spirit beside the road and I ran after them.

She have run mad ooh! catch her the people chanted but no one had the courage to chase me. I was about to cross the road without looking, I really had to join Dad and mum that were on the other side of the road before they disappear but someone held me from behind. I turned with speed and anger and frustration as Dad and mum's spirit disappeared. I used my teeth and finger to decorate the neck and face of the person holding me and that person happened to be George. As George left me, my pegs became weak and u stumbled to the ground and remembered no more
