Mel’s POV
I awaken to an empty bed. The clock says that it's 5am, so that must mean he must've left a while ago to do patrol with Ameer. My heart pangs at the fact he didn't ask me to join them, but maybe he just wanted me to get more sleep.
I didn’t realize it until now, but I have one of the most important jobs in the pack. I’m training the warriors that will defend our Alpha and pack in battle. If I don’t do a good job, I could be the reason Jaxon is injured or killed, and that’s the furthest thing from what I want.
