  Daniel woke up in his office. The door was still closed when the children left for school. Fortunately, Susan had refused to leave that night. She stayed with the children in Ethan's room, without leaving, but the shouts were heard just the same. She had to contain Naomi and Jonathan, who had been scared by their father's harsh voice.
