Chapter 49: Foreclosure

2345 Words

49 Foreclosure Brian was getting better. When he rolled off the couch, there were no shooting pains. His head was full of sleep, but his heart was already pounding. This was a big day. The fear he would sleep through the day, to be woken by the sound of boots busting down his door and law enforcement staff, taking himself, his wife and son captive, had been avoided for now. His mobile was sitting on the table beside the couch. He dropped the giraffe that Prince had given him as he grabbed for the mobile. No, he must pick up the giraffe and put it somewhere nice, perhaps at the kitchen table. Seated, like it was waiting for breakfast. Brian zigzagged over to the kitchen. His feet reminded him of his age. He sat the giraffe down at his place at the breakfast table. He’d have to get going.
