“I - I don't know where they took her, Liam,” Nick told his brother, his voice guttural, and eyes red from weeping. “I can't get any connection from her. Nothing at all.” He shook his head. “Seems like I had imagined her.”
“Your men and mine are out on the lookout. I'll have them take Vicenzo's mate hostage. Kill her if we have to.”
“Liam,”
“We have to do something, Nick.”
Nick buried his face in his hands.
“Channel your anger, big brother,” Liam said quietly.
Nick shook his head. It felt like a huge part of him had been ripped away.
He cleared his throat. “How's Sapphire? And their - their Mom?”
“I have the Mom in my house. I'll have them take a few things and we'll come stay with you.” Liam responded. He knew his brother was not in the right frame of mind to be left alone.
Nick was silent for a minute. “How about the witches?”
His brother sighed.“What I've been wanting to tell you, Nick. They're gone. Not a trace of them.”
“What does it look like?”
“They've been gotten rid of.” Liam shook his head. “This is bigger than we thought.”
Nick nodded. No Alpha would have participated in this Uprising if they didn't have a stronger, darker power backing them. And a lot of Alphas were involved, so how much darker power were they entangled with?
And all of these were being done in a bid to overthrow him as the Blood Alpha and dispel his pack members.
Most of the other alphas had wanted an older Blood Alpha, preferring Nick's traitorous uncle to Nick himself. He'd had to kill the man and had thought that would be enough. And he'd also known from the very beginning that these Alphas had hated the men he'd brought together to form his pack but time had passed and the whispers and talks had seemed to fade.
He'd thought it was over then. He was wrong.
