Chapter five

Walking into the airport was so strange, I had only ever been on a place twice in my life. Each time I absolutely hated it, and I wanted to just curl up and die. Retreat into the shadows so nobody could see me or mess with me. Not that it was any true, considering the shadows couldn't fully hide me now. I wonder if I could control shadows considering I could travel through them. There were a few people staring at us but I just assumed it was because of Bran. We kept walking and then eventually went to a section of the Airport not many people were going to. It was listed as Terminal DG. The others were all letters as well but just one single letter. "Where are we again" I asked because the walls were different. There was a good portion of this hallway that looked like the rest of the airport after a left turn the hallway was different. Now lined in bricks and the ground just normal concrete. Bran stopped and I ran right into him not realizing I had been distracted. Bran had stopped because there was a gate and the security guy looked funny. He had horns poking out of his security hat and he wasn't wearing pants. I guess he didn't need too considering he had... goat legs. Satyrs! "Two tickets on the next plane to Hazelpoint." Bran handed the satyr some coins and I couldn't quite catch the color of them because the Satyr quickly put them into his pocket. Then he clicked a few things on the computer before speaking. "Bringing another one Bran? How many demi-gods have you brought back safely now? 28?" I looked at Bran in utter shock. This is what he was doing. Finding demi-gods who showed their powers and bringing them here. To this Hazelpoint? And they went through this airport, or do they have multiple spots in different airports? I was just in utter confusion. "This is number twenty now." Bran looked at me and motioned his head towards the satyr. Probably wanting me to introduce myself. "Autumn Copenhaver." I said deciding I didn't want to use my old first name. I could tell Bran was giving me a look but he didnt say anything. The satyr wrote down something, I assumed was my name and then looked back up at me. "Parantege?" He asked and I looked at bran. I didn't know how people felt about certain gods and my father was always talked down upon at times. Things were said about him and I wasn't sure but Bran gave me a warm smile and a knod. "Hades. Daughter of Hades." The satyr looked at me and just shrugged writing that down as well. Before he would start bending down and searching through the cabinet underneath him. "Your American money will still work at Hazelpoint in some places. You can trade in what ever paper money you have and I can transfer it to a card that will work everywhere in Hazlepoint. We use Something called Veil Credits. Its a system the leaders came up with that would work as a universal system. We have lots of different cultures and people here so you need to be respectful." The satyr put his hand out and i pulled the cash out of the bag my mother gave me. Handing it to the satyr he put it down and started typing some stuff into a computer. It felt like forever as he counted the cash and put it through a counting machine. Then he put a card on the counter, "There. It's loaded with the cash you gave me. You will need a job soon though if you plan on staying here long term. As a child of a big god you might want to think about it. You won't be safe for long if you cant control your aura." The satyr said finally taking a good look at me. Quickly he looked away like I had blinded him or something. "You really need to learn aura control. Big three children of the Greek or Roman gods always have a strong aura its how monsters find you so quickly." The satyr typed some stuff on his computer again before putting two tickets onto the counter as well. "Be on your way plane leaves soon." Bran grabbed the tickets and then took my hand and I quickly grabbed the card and put it into my pocket. We got to the terminal and I looked around. There were walls built that looked as if they were from different centuries. All making one big section in the airport. It wasn't underground because the window looked out into the tarmark and I could see all the other planes coming and going. It was so strange to think this had been here the whole time and people just had no idea about it. How were they able to hide something in plain sight? My mother mentioned something called "the veil". Is that how they were able to hide centaurs and satyrs in plain sight? How the unicorns and other things I had seen all my life not been visible to the adults or other kids in my life? I moved to the window and put my hands up against it just looking out. There weren't many people in the terminal and I assumed the patrons waiting in the seats were waiting for the plane as well. I could feel an arm be drapped around my shoulders pulling me closer. I knew it was Bran I didn't even have to question it. Bran had very distinctive arms and a way he would pull me closer to him. It was a protective way and one I had taken for granted when we were together. How he still cared for me I would never understand but I was grateful for it. Would they have sent someone else to come collect me? Did he volunteer when he found out who it was. I turned and looked up at him. "Did you know it was me?" I asked him and he looked down at me and shook his head no. "All they tell me is the location where the demi-god is. At the time of their powers being activated. Before I even left they said you used your powers twice, both not fully aware you were even doing it. They told me the college and it sounded all to familiar. When I got there you weren't there, the tracker they give me updated your location when you were in the graveyard. I marked the specific spot and when I drove there you were not there. But the grave you visited told me everything I needed to know. I knew it was you this time and I went straight to your mother's house hoping you would be there and you were. Just in the nick of time as well. Had I shown up and later you and your mom could have died." His breathing hitched and he looked away from me back to outside the window. "The thought that I could have been too late. It's happened before. I pride myself on being able to save the demi-gods without them running into monster attacks. Only once was I too late and had to tell my bosses I failed. I was reprimanded but not as harshly as others. I'm pretty sure they were either a child of a big three or one of the important gods from Norse or Celtic gods. They were undetermined at this point. We never found out whose child they were because they passed so quickly in a fire. Nothing left to find. It was rough." Bran looked sad remembering this and I almost felt bad for asking. Please be ready to board the plan demi-gods and friends. We will be taking off in twenty minutes. The p.a system announced and I pulled away from Bran to watch as four other people stood up. They were in pairs just like me and Bran and I looked over and he knoded. They were all like us, demigods and being brought to this new city by someone who found them. Bran took my hand and lead me over to the line. Slowly we all entered the plane and Bran took me to the middle of the plane. I kept my bag in my lap as it had my tablet I normally draw in for my illustrations and tattoo work. I had started an apprenticeship which I guess would be ending now that I was moving. Bran sat next to me after putting his bag up in the above carriage. He held my hand again and I put my head on his shoulder. The plane eventually took off and I could feel the turbulence start up which scared me. Bran insisted we were okay and eventually I fell asleep on the plane. A first.
