Before Delta Gano could reach the shoreline of Sussex, the ship’s ladder connecting it to the port had been removed by some ship’s crews. Delta Gano without any other recourse, jumped from the port to the ship, to the surprise of the crews who just removed the ladder.
“Sir, I am sorry; do you have a ticket?” One of the crew asked. Delta Gano was quick enough to think for an alibi.
“My companion is inside already. I just came in late. We are going to elope. My ticket is with her. I promise you, I will submit the ticket to you or let me buy another if it is possible.” Delta Gano said smiling at the ship’s member of the crew.
