Amelia left the hotel broken leaving a suffocating silence in the hotel room. James rubbed the side of his face where her slap still burned, his chest rising and falling with panic. Genevieve adjusted her dress with trembling fingers, but steady. “She knows now, everything” she said, her voice sharp.
“No..No..No, this is bad, very bad” James said rubbing his hands through his head.
“Is she going to tell her father?” He asked. Genevieve replied with sharp voice “Yes! She will tell everyone and our plan will be ruin. f**k!”
Genevieve said “Amelia has always been self-righteous. She’ll run straight home and expose us without a second thought.” James stopped and stared at her, her voice barely a whisper .
“What do we do?”
“ Should we silence her before she ruins everything. If she talks, your reputation, my position,
everything we’ve built, gone. Do you understand?” She said with a darkened eyes, her mind is already filled with wicked precision.
He stared into her eyes and swallowed hard “ Are you saying we should…”
She interrupted him “ I said we should end her before she end us” she stepped closer and lowered
her voice “accidents happen every day. And if Amelia has one… well, people will mourn, but no
one will suspect a thing.” James covered his mouth in shock and looks terrified by her words yet unable to deny the greed twist in his gut. Amelia ’ s wealth. Her inheritance. All of it would be his if she were out of the picture.
“ Think about it,” Genevieve whispered, her lips grazing his ear like a serpent ’ s hiss.
“ One ‘ accident ’ and our problems disappear . Forever . Amelia Carter gone forever ” she said with a darkened eyes smirk.
Outside the rain poured heavily as Amelia rushed out of the hotel, her tears mingled with downpour as she hits her chest with her folded hands. Her chest hurts with every breath. Has she walked through the wet city of London, the betrayal replayed in her mind like a loop. How long had it been going on? How blind had she been? She was lost in thought and She didn’t see the blinding headlights cutting through the darkness.
HOOOONKS!!!
Time froze.
A big truck hit her . CRASH!
Her body was floating on the cold night air before it slammed on the wet road. The world dimmed. The rain kissed her cheeks like a cruel lullaby as her vision blurred into darkness.
Somewhere, faint and distant, voices gathered. Sirens wailed. People shouted. But Amelia heard
none of it. All she could see was the last image burned into her mind James and Genevieve, locked
in a forbidden embrace.
Amelia Carter lay lifeless on the street, her blood mingling with the rain … unaware that this
tragedy was not the end of her story, but the beginning of something far greater.
The pain was gone, the rain gone, the sounds of siren gone. There was only silence. Her body was numb, her thoughts scattered like ashes in the wind.
“Amelia”
A familiar and warm voice she she had not heard in years but would know anywhere.
Her heart trembled. “M–Mother?”
The light grew until it enveloped her. She found herself standing barefoot in a place that felt too beautiful to be real. Everything around her was a gentle white, the ground like clouds beneath her feet.
And there was a woman walked towards her in white garment. Her mother.
“Mother…” Amelia said with a full eyes, and tears spilled down her cheeks as she ran forward and they hugged each other,a reunion neither had dream of. Amelia clung to her mother as though letting go would mean losing her all over again.
“My sweet baby Amelia”her mother murmured, brushing tears from Amelia’s face with hands that felt warm and real. “I’ve missed you more than words could ever say.”
“I thought I’d never see you again,” Amelia sobbed. “Everything is falling apart. James betrayed me… with Genevieve. They ruined everything. I don’t know how to fix this, Mother. I don’t know how to go on.”
Her mother smiled gently as she cleaned up her daughter’s tears “Oh, my darling Amelia … this is not the end. It is only the beginning.”
She reached into the folds of her garment and brought out a delicate necklace, a golden chain with a pendant shaped like an hourglass, its sands swirling as if alive.
“This,” her mother said softly, clasping it around Amelia’s neck, “is the Hourglass of Fate. It is a gift from the ancestors a chance to rewrite your story.”
Confused Amelia look into the hourglass of fate “ What is it going to do for me mother, your daughter is dead now and she is happy to be with you “
With sorrow in her eyes, Amelia’s mother hugged and said “ Your time is not over yet, the ancestors are giving you another chance of life for you to rewrite your story”
The moment the pendant touches Amelia’s skin, her body glow with the hourglass, they were so bright until the light was almost blinding.
Her mother whispered “Do not waste this gift. Go back. Change your choices. Protect your heart. And above all, find the love and happiness you truly deserve.”
Amelia held onto her mother tighter. “Will I see you again?”
Her mother smiled through her own tears. “I am always with you, my little star. Always.”
The world exploded into brilliant gold. Amelia hold on to her mother as the light swallowed her whole and then everything vanished.
Amelia opened her eyes and she was gasping for air, sitting upright in a familiar room her old bedroom in the Carter Mansion.
“I am back, oh my God! It worked”
She jumped up happily and went to check the date flashing on the phone calendar: five years earlier. She went to check younger self in the mirror before the wedding, before the betrayal. And around her neck, the hourglass pendant glowed faintly, as if reminding her that time had turned just for her.
This time, she would take her revenge
This time, things would be different.
This time, she wouldn’t be the victim.
This time… she would write her own ending.
And lastly she would find her soulmate.
