Sitting at the table to eat. I look around and see the table filled with all the good eats. Steak potatoes, chicken breast smothered in gravy and bacon sauce. Mashed potatoes and apple pie and a salad and lasagna and a chocolate cake. Burgers and fries and three large pizzas. Our kitchen staff out done themselves. I grab a salad a couple slices of roasted beef some rice and gravy and Mac and cheese, adding more veggies and meat. I’m finally done getting my food taking a seat next to my brother AJ and digging in my food. “ I see you have got your powers sis, how is it going with training?” He asked I look over to mom and back at AJ mid chew, stopping and swallowing the bite in my mouth before speaking. “ yes, I have gained powers and they work with my emotions, I can control parts of the elements. So far I have created twigs.” I responded to him, taking a drink from my glass jar iced tea is my favorite drink. “ I accepted a mission about the moonshine flower and zasha root, it’s going to be a challenge but it’s worth it.”
“MOONSHINE FLOWER! ZASHA ROOTS! you finding them are going to be impossible to find!” AJ laughs. Mom gasps and dad speaks “ that’s going to be a tough mission.” I shake my head and finish my meal, I excuse myself from the table. I walk out to the battle zone where we hold our matches. Wynter asks “ can we go for a run”, I agree and take a second and shift into my wolf and start my run up to the mountain on the other side of our land. Going at high speeds, everything blurring out around me, jumping over fallen trees, paws beating against the cool dirt of the landscape. Lost in thought, I’m hit with full force speed by another wolf. Looking at his eyes, they are captivating to me one is red as rubies, the details in that eye called to me, something deep inside of me a linear pull out of this world. The other eye golden, that shines like the light of the sun as deep as the color of the petals of a sunflower. Deeply confused by the collision between us, using my healing power to help clear the pain in my ribs and front leg. I turn and run away back up to the mountains, wondering about the eyes of the wolf I literally just ran into! Turning to look back, knowing he was probably already gone, but there he stood moon shining down on him.
So, handsome for a wolf, standing 6”6’ tall lean built toned legs, only imagine what his human body looks like. I bounce off, along the road towards the mountains and through a cave that leads out to a hot spring that I discovered when I was 15, and I stop at the edge of the lake. Gazing up at the moon feeling the power of the moon pour out into to me, feeling energized and giddy, moving around, still not having seen my wolf with my own eyes I walk to the water and look at the reflection on my wolf in the water, she is absolutely stunning the colors vibrant and shining like moonlight.
My mind flowing through everything that has happened today, worried about all that rest on me and these powers.
“Wynter shift back please”, a couple moments later I stand full clothed back at the edge of the hot spring lake, the moon shining down on me the warmth of the lake coming from a small breeze, normal chirps of grasshoppers and small nighttime critters, singing a song to the moon.
It’s time to try these powers again, starting with my breathing slowly calming myself, bring forth my earth magic and letting the setting of the earth, enter my mind and body feeling the freedom that it gives when I’m running through it in wolf form, the smell of the dirt the feeling of life the earth, brings the world, visualizing the ways the zasha root looks the color and the properties that the book, list remembering each herb had healing ability the power shines from me strong and amazing, the feeling that the power brings is breathtaking awesome. And, just like that the root is completed. Holding my hand under the root taking it out of the air, inspecting it, turning it over looking at the grain of dirt on it, seeing the top is green like a carrot, wondering if I can somehow make it grow from that.
“Wynter we have excelled in making the zasha root, should we work on ice and water?” I asked, “let’s try water, we don’t need to start a fire.” She answered.
Doing the same steps as before I try to make a snowball, but it just ends up soaking me. So, I take my clothes off and jump into the hot water and just relax, after about twenty minutes of trying for the snow, I try to make it rain. It does, so I give it one last try at the moonshine flower, calming my mind planting my bare feet on the ground, pulling the powers to the edge and letting it flow and out to my fingertips, remembering the way the flower looks like on the page of the book, the process is coming together and with a last push of power into the creation of the flower and it takes shape and is materializes, the books description of what the flower should look like is pale in comparison to what I have created. “Wynter is this flower the true moonshine flower?” I asked her, “ How would I know the only time I’ve ever seen it was in the book, maybe we should go talk to your mother.” She answered in a sassy tone.
Making some vines into a basket, I lay the flower and root inside and cover it with the lid, shifting back into my colorful wolf, I run back down the mountain. Fully aware that I’m being chased by a pack of rogues, I am close enough to reach out to my uncle for backup.
