The cold-hearted younger generation of the Pecunias

1100 Words
The only ones who are allowed to ride a carriage in the mansion road are the Pecunias. The guard went white at the sight of the menacing wagon. However, Lucy had a contrasting expression on her face compared to the guard. She was elated to see a member of the Pecunia family arrive. Feeling the urgency of the dilemma of the Little Flower’s Orphanage, Lucy felt this is a good opportunity to get in contact with Seth Pecunia.   Brought up in the care of Sister Theresa, Lucy and the kids of Little Flower Orphanage had no cunning in their heart and was made to believe in the goodness of the fellow human being.   “PLEASE STOP THE CARAVAN, I NEED TO MEET YOUNG MASTER SETH VERY URGENTLY!!” she screamed at the top of her lungs. Despite her earnest scream the carriage did not slow down, the coachman did not ever care about the young girl who was standing in middle of the road. For all intensions, he decided to run her over rather than disturb his master who was riding inside the coach.   Lucy held her ground with her arms apart, but as the carriage came closer, she couldn’t do help but close her eyes in fear. As she anticipated a hard crash and being trampled by the twin fierce horses, all that assaulted her was a fierce gust of wind and a loud screeching noise. She opened her eyes slowly to witness the carriage has stopped close besides her. Coincidental to her opening her eyes, the carriage door opened showing a pale young boy who was dressed extravagantly.     “Young master Seth you say… to call him like that… are you two close?” the young buy who came out of the carriage only looked at Lucy when he suspected her to be close to Seth Pecunia. However, the gaze of appraisal only made the hairs on the back of Lucy’s neck stand, she preferred him not looking her way.   With just a glance the young boy lost interest in Lucy and was only berating himself for stopping the carriage for commoner because he heard Seth’s name. The family of Pecunia is large and people of real power are very few and Seth, the youngling who was chosen to inherit the title of the family head happens to have more power in the family compared to the good-for-nothing younger generation pure bloods. However, his interest in Lucy was set ablaze with what Lucy said next…   “I don’t think I am close to young master Seth, but him and I did church duties together growing up. I am sure he has an impression of me. I direly wish to meet young master Seth, please make it happen for me. I… I beg you…”   Lucy, though she grew up in an orphanage she had never lost her pride to anyone, sister Theresa made sure that the children of the orphanage doesn’t have to bow down to anyone. Instead, she took it upon herself to show gratitude for the help she received, at times she was teases or made fun of the people of high standing, but Theresa patiently tolerated everything for the orphan children. Therefore, it was new for Lucy to beg someone for something, it felt new and unease.   The youth from the carriage eagerly looked at Lucy as soon as she mentioned ‘Church Duties’   “Does the young miss happen to be a priestess?”   “I… I am… I was not long ago I have submitted myself in the service of the God.”   “Excellent! Excellent! No wonder you happen to know young master Seth. Only people of special stature can make the acquaintance of Master Seth.”   “Come, let us head over to the mansion, I will usher you in my very own carriage to prevent unnecessary questioning and delay. From your tone, I can ascertain that the matter that you wish to discuss with Master Seth seems to be of extreme significance.”   “Yes, it is about the livelihood of our Church’s orphanage! I need to bring our situation to Young Master Seth’s attention immediately.”   As soon as Lucy mentioned ‘orphanage’ a scorn of disgust flashed in the eyes of the young youth. Though he quickly hid it, Lucy noticed the look of scorn, she grew up noticing that look on the faces of people whom sister Theresa asked for help. However, since Lucy is asking for a favour and as the youth promised to bring her to meet Seth Pecunia, she put up with it. After all, from what she heard about the Pecunia’s the youth seems to be many times better than the terror tales she heard.   “I understand, this does seem to be of something very important. I hope Master Seth can help you with your difficulty,” said the youth pretending to care about the matters of Lucy.   He opened the carriage door for Lucy step in like the perfect gentleman with an amiable smile. As soon as Lucy stepped in and turned her back to him, the mask of his gentlemanly demeanour instantly vanished. With a cold look he started at the guards by the road, as if he is enquiring who has allowed the commoner to step onto the mansion road. As the lot looked at the one guard in particular, she said nothing but one line.   “I do not wish to see him anymore,” saying so the youth turned to step into the carriage. The guard heaved a sigh of relief, what he feared the most had not happened, though he is losing a lucrative job like the guard for the Pecunia, the guard was rejoicing that he didn’t have to go through any gruelling punishment. However, his relief was short lived as the youth added one more word to his earlier statement.   “I do not wish to see him anymore and anywhere.”   The guardsman went pale with fright, he wanted to run away, but was quickly held by the other guards. Before he could plead for mercy, he mouth was quickly shut and was gagged with rope. Though the guardman’s eyes pleaded for mercy, the youth of the Pecunia family spared him no glance and stepped into the carriage.  To read the next pre-release chapters: Support us @ pat reon : pa treon.com/iamanimel
