CHAPTER FIFTEEN Harley’s legs burned, and she could hear Callaway huffing beside her like an angry bull. Sweat beaded on her forehead and ran down her ribcage like bullets. She glanced over her shoulder and was surprised to see Gardenia lagging only a short distance behind them, a testament to how well her lifestyle kept her in shape. The hem of her dress was bunched to the side in one hand, revealing her muscular calves. Her face was locked in determination. They found a knot of people gathered at the edge of a potato field, one of the numerous crop fields hidden behind the houses.
