Chapter 3 Finally Home

1999 Words
Remington's POV  I had no idea what just happened or what I just saw, but i know i needed answers. Who were the people my parents were trying so hard to protect me from? What actually happened to them? What were they? What was I? Everyone could see the look of confusion on my face. I just shut my eyes as tight as I could and tried to collect myself.     "Sweets, it is okay. You are protected and we are all here to help you. We can answer all of your questions. If you are needing time, we can do this tomorrow as well. Its all up to you."     "What was that?" was all I could muster at that second.     "I showed you the past. I have special abilities that not all of our kind have. Just a select few." Amelia answered.  What did she mean our kind? I'm a normal girl. I have lived in the same house, gone to the same schools, and never even been out of Westbrook. There was nothing extraordinary about me. This had to be a prank. Steph had to be pulling something and managed to get everyone involved somehow.     " Sweets, let's go for a walk so I can explain everything to you. Just us girls." Steph was definitely one I was more comfortable with, so without hesitation I agreed. As we left the house, I followed her to a gazebo on the backside. It was beautiful. Made of solid wood, it was crafted perfectly with leaves flowing down the sides of the posts. I had never seen anything like it. Just as we got to the gazebo, Steph sat on one of the many benches and signaled me to sit next to her. She seemed a bit worried about what she had to tell me, which wasn't something I had ever witnessed before.     " Sweets, just know that I am always here to protect you. You are my best friend and I don't know what i would do without you."     "I know Steph." I interrupted with a smile hoping to ease some of her tension.     " Okay. So I guess we should start from the beginning so it all makes sense and after I explain everything you can ask me any questions you need to okay?" I agreed to her and she started explaining what actually happened to my parents.  They were the pack leaders and I was their only child, making me their heir. My father and mother died protecting me from a very powerful witch Ursula. My father's family was cursed by Ursula millennials ago, stating the first child born a girl, would belong to her. No one quite knew why the witch had cursed my father's family, just that they were all lucky enough to bare male children, except for me. My parents fought and fought to keep me away from her, resulting in their deaths and my placement with a human.  Ursula  would have never though they would take me from the safety of the pack and place me in the home of a weak human, so Adam knew it would be the perfect hiding spot. They hoped that they would be able to find and kill the witch and bring me home, but as soon as my parents died and I vanished, she did as well.  They tried locating her for years, but when it came time for me to start school and she still hadn't be found, the enrolled Steph with me to keep an eye out for anything and protect me. Steph was a warrior wolf, and was in in training since the day she could walk. She became my best friend and my protector all in one. They watched me and kept me safe from afar. They patrolled my house and even had someone at my school patrolling at all times. They were planning for my 18th to tell me that I was a wolf, but she started to awaken earlier than expected so Steph thought it best to bring me here and let me know before my wolf fully emerged and scared me.  I just listened to her, never breaking eye contact. It all made sense now. Why Steph would never take me out of Westbrook. Why she was so protective. I still felt like they betrayed me a little by not telling me who I was from the beginning, I could have helped.     " It was wrong for you  to not tell me who I was, Steph. I could have handed it. But instead you all made that decision for me and robbed me of my reality. I could have been an asset to the pack and we could have found Ursula together. Instead you left me in a hell hole with someone who never loved me and expect me to just understand? What kind of friend does that?" I was so angry that I couldn't even look at her. I couldn't believe that the one person I could trust to tell me everything lied to me from the beginning. Was she really my friend or just there because she had been ordered to?     " Sweets, I was just trying to keep you safe. I really had no say in the order. I pleaded with my father to bring you home almost every single day, but they knew she would be coming for you. We have done all this for you.Trust me no one here wanted you gone but we all had to keep you safe."     " Okay so what does this mean now?" I believed her. She didn't have a say in anything when it came to my safety. She had to just follow commands. I was still a little upset but no longer at her. I could never stay angry at my best friend. She led me back to the pack house to talk to the Elders hoping they could bring my light onto my situation. Hopefully they could help me understand my role in all of this and what I am supposed to be to my pack. *************************************************************************************************************** Steph's POV I could tell that Sweets was scared and confused all rolled into one. Even after explaining to her everything, it seemed like she didn't believe me. No matter if she believed or not, she was changing and fast.. Her wolf would be awake completely and she would understand everything.  Entering the pack house, all the elders were still there with my parents. They looked at us as soon as we walked through the front doors. I could see they were eager to hear what all i told her but I thought it would be best for Remington to tell them what she understood of the situation and ask questions accordingly. It didn't take long for conversation to start and the questions start flowing through.     " So what exactly is my role here? Since my parents were leaders and all."     "Thats simple my child. You are the packs Luna. You are the leader of this pack and once you find your mate, he would become the Alpha." Mr. Porter informed her. Another look of confusion crossed her face and I knew what she was thinking almost instantly.     " My mate? What is that and how will I know they are mine?"      " You will just know. It is different for everyone so we can't exactly tell you." Amelia just smiled at her, happy to have her back into the pack and back into her life.      " How can I be the Luna to a pack that I have never been involved in. I can't lead people I don't know. Won't they reject me?"     "We have all been waiting for you to return for years. No one is going to reject you, just be excited you are finally home. After your wolf is fully awake, we will have a ceremony for you to link you to the rest of the pack and welcome you home. After that, we will all fill you in on your duties and help you adjust. I will be there every step of the way, guiding you like I did your father and mother. Once you are ready, I will step down and you will resume your position. Trust me, you will be great just like your parents." My dad was the one that was leading the pack for the past few years since he was the beta when Sweets parents died. He was always talking about how he couldn't wait for Remi to return and take her place and he could retire since I was to step up and be beta. There was never a beta that was woman, and I was excited to prove to them I was perfect for the position. I was ready for us to run this pack.     " Okay. Well I think I have had enough for one night, Steph can we go to bed now? I'm extremely exhausted."     " Sure thing. Let me show you to your room. As I guided her up the stairs, I couldn't help but notice a sense of relief on her face. I was so glad that we was finally home and I think she was as well. This was going to be a start to an amazing journey that we would be doing together every step of the way. ***************************************************************************************************************Remington's POV This day, even though very strange, was also enlightening. For once for as long as I could remember I had a sense of belonging. I was wanted and I was where I needed to be. I couldn't help but feel happy. Of course i was nervous about the days coming forward, but I was also ready. I knew I could do this. The room that Steph showed me as mine was bigger than anything I have ever seen. I had a large king bed in the center of the room, a couch under a large window to the left side, and a giant bathroom that had a tub and separate shower with a walk in closet attached. I was dumbfounded. How could this be mine? I was used to my ordinary room that had a full bed and an adjacent bathroom that was just big enough for a small walk in shower. I guess Steph noticed my amusement because she chuckled at me as she stood in the door.     "Not what you are used to is it Sweets? Trust me, you will get used to it fast. This is the Alpha's/ Luna's room. You get the whole third floor to yourself. I'm on the second floor with the omega Payton. He's pretty chill so you won't have a problem with him. You have an office down the hall that my father is still using for his alpha duties, but as soon as you take over, we can fix it up to your style." She kept going on about something, but I quickly became lost in my thoughts. I could no longer hear what she was saying and was just overwhelmed by everything that has happened the past few hours.     "Steph, this is amazing. Do you think you could stay in here with me for the night though? I don't think im ready to be alone." I interrupted whatever she was going on about but she could tell that I was a little uneasy and quickly agreed. She went to her room to change into comfortable clothes and I realized that in the hustle of everything forgot to pack me anything. Lucky for me Steph was my size. I went to go find Steph about getting something for the night when I started getting a headache. It was just like last time, my eyes were blurring and my body started to feel like it was on fire. My legs started to become wobbly and I lost my balance, plunging me straight for the floor, knocking me out cold.
