Chapter 2 Elders

2073 Words
Remington's POV The whole ride home, Steph and I talked about my birthday and what she had planned for me. Lucky for me, she knew me so well that she just wanted a simple girls night with just the two of us. She planned shopping at the local outdoor mall, dinner, and a movie before we retreated back to her house for the night. I was so excited to go with her that i could barely keep it in. That was until we got to my house. I always dreaded coming home. There was never an easy day and Steph could sense my mood change almost instantly.     "Sweets, are you ok?"     "Yeah, I am. What time will you be here to get me in the morning?" I wanted to change the subject as quickly as i could.      " I'll be here by 10 unless i need to be here sooner. Just let me know."     "You're the best and I can't wait for tomorrow." I got out of the car and watched as she drove down the road before i headed for the door. There was a 50/50 chance that she wasn't home, but I always expected the worst. As I approached the outside steps, I exhaled sharply and slowly opened the door. I was hoping that if she was home, she wouldn't hear me and I could quietly just go to my room. I peered into living room that contained a old couch from the 70s and a simple box television. She wasn't there. I started my descend up the stairs to my room, making it without incident. Today must be my lucky day. Setting my bookbag next to my bathroom door, I went in to take a much needed bath. I just needed to relax from the day. While i  was undressing, I hit the place that Susan had struck me earlier, causing pain through my leg. I almost forgot about that. I turned on the water to warm up just as a massive headache started. It was like none I have ever experienced before. I started to feel dizzy and my sight was going in and out. I didn't know what was happening to me. Maybe if I just relax in the shower it will go away. I quickly got in and sat at the bottom of my tub before I completely blacked out.  When I woke up, the water had gone cold and I was shivering. 'How long was I out?' I quickly turned off the water and grabbed my towel to get out. While on my bed apply lotion, I noticed the bruise on my leg was gone. I was confused by it all and started to freak out. I needed to call Steph ASAP.     "Hey sweets! Is everything alright?"     "I don't know. I passed out in the shower from a really, really bad headache and something is just off. I can feel it."      "I'll be right there. Just get dressed and wait for me outside." She hung up the phone before I could tell her anything. I noticed it was 10 p.m. meaning that I had passed out in the shower for 7 hours! More anxiety quickly ran through my body. I quickly got myself dressed in a big hoodie and some form fitting sweats. I pulled my hair up in another messy bun just as she sent me a text saying she was here. I slowly opened my door, trying not make a sound to alert Susan. She wasn't in the hallway and that there was no light on downstairs in the living room, I felt like it was safe to head out. I quickly but quietly walked down the stairs making sure to avoid the ones that made any sort of noise. Finally making to the door, I unlocked it and slipped out undetected and ran to Steph's car.     "Are you okay sweets? What all happened?" As I filled Steph in on everything from the headache to me passing out in the shower to the bruise healing, she remained extremely calm.     "Why did you have a large bruise on your leg?"     "Steph that isn't important. I honestly think there is something wrong. My anxiety is through the roof!"     " Sweets, you will be okay. I can promise you that."     " How Steph. No one just does that for no reason." She looked away from me as I was responding to her and started driving. I thought she was taking me to the hospital, but when we passed the turn, I didn't know where we were going .     "Where are we going? Why aren't we going to the hospital?"     "You don't need a hospital Sweets. I thought I had one more day before this started, but I guess the Moon Goddess has other plans."     "What are you talking about,Steph? Where are you taking me?"     " I'm taking somewhere to explain who and what you really are Sweets. The legacy that  your parents left you and the life you are truly meant to have." What was going on. My best friend was acting crazy and she kept replying to me the same answer to all my questions. You will have your answer soon enough. If I didn't trust her with my life, I would have thought was was going to kill me.  About a hour into our drive, my headache started again. This time worse than the other. I felt my eyes going out from the pain but this time my body also burned. What was this and why was i going through this. I guess steph could sense that it was happening because she told me to just shut my eyes and relax. That it would all be over soon. As soon as I shut my eyes, I was asleep. My body had given in to the pain and surrendered.  *************************************************************************************************************** Steph's POV On the drive to the pack house, all I could do was worry about Remington. Her wolf was starting to wake up and I had no idea how to help her. When my wolf woke up, I was fortunate enough to be on pack grounds and had the help of everyone there, making it a smooth transition. But Remington didn't even know about this part of herself. All I could think to do was take her back to the pack house and see what they wanted to do. We were supposed to be going there tomorrow so I could finally tell her who and what she was, but it seemed like the Moon Goddess had other plans for us. I linked my father on the way there to fill him in on what was happening.     " Hey dad, I'm bringing Remington to the pack house. I am about 30 minutes out. It seems like she started to transition sooner that expected. Do you think you could have everything ready when we get there? I know she's going to have a lot of questions."     " I will get it done. Just make sure you are safe. We can't have anything happen to her or you. This pack depends on it."     "Yes sir. "  As I was driving, I heard her phone go off. I grabbed it off the center console and noticed it was a number that wasn't saved in her phone. Without even realizing it, I opened the message and it was from Axel. He was the Alpha of our neighboring pack, The Eclipse Pack. I recognized him earlier today from one of those dumb parties my parents make me go to for unmated wolves. I quickly turned off her phone and put it back down when she started coming to again. We were almost to the pack house, and I knew that it was going to be extremely stressful for her there.     "How are you feeling Sweets?"     "Like I was hit by a big semi. Where are we? How long was I out?"     "We are about 20 minutes away. Once we get there I promise you will understand everything that is going on. For now just try to rest. Your really going to need it." She then laid back into the seat and just looked out the window. I hated not being able to tell her what was going on but she would know soon enough. As soon as we pulled into our territory, she perked up in her seat fully alert. It was like she recognized this place but she hasn't been here since she was a small child. We pulled up to the pack house and were greeted by my parents. Rem started to relax a little at the sight of them, but I could tell she was still completely confused.     "We are here. You ready for this?"     "As I will ever be." *************************************************************************************************************** Remington's POV When we finally got to our destination, I felt  I had been there before. It all just felt so familiar but at the same time all new. I couldn't describe the feeling. Steph's parents Adam and Lizzy were there to great us, so it took some of the edge off. At least I knew we were somewhere safe and she wasn't going completely crazy. As we got up and walked to the steps of the house, steph's parents quickly hugged me and pulled me in the house. As soon as we walked into what I assumed was the living room, I saw four sets of eyes on me. They were much older than Steph's parents and dressed like kings and queens. I felt intimidated just by them being here.      "Remington, these are the elders, Christopher and Amelia Jensen and James and  Katherine Porter. We have some very important information to share with you regarding who and what you are. " Steph's dad spoke softly, like he could tell I was full of anxiety and on the verge of a breakdown. As soon as he was done speaking, Ms. Jensen stood up and walked toward me. She was a tall woman with silky black and white peppered hair that reached all the way down to the small of her back. She had bright green eyes and the most kindest of smiles. She reminded me a lot of my mother, or the little memory I had of her.     "Ms.Kostiv, please take my hands. I would like to show you something." I nodded and complied with what she asked of me. As soon as she help my hands, She told me to close my eyes as she did the same. As soon as my eyes shut, my mind was flooded with visions. I could see my mom and dad when they were my age and met each other, then them holding me as an infant to them chasing me as a toddler. I was so happy to see these but it soon became a sight I would never forget. I saw my father pacing in his office with a few men. He looked concerned and my mother was sitting in his office, holding me in her arms as I slept with tears in her eyes.     " We have to protect her Johnathan. We can't let them take her. She doesn't deserve any of this."     " I have a place for her, Adam has found somewhere that they would never expect her to be. She will be greatly cared for."  As soon as my father said that, my mother shook her head and leaned down to me, kissing my forehead before handing me to Steph's father. The vision quickly turned to my mother and father standing side by side with a large army beside them. They looked determined and scared all at the same time. Out of the clearing, another large group appeared, but this group was different. They were filthy and their clothes were ripped. They looked like savages. Soon my parents and the army they led were racing forward into battle when they all of a sudden shifted. They were now large wolves sprint full force at this group of savages. Soon they shifted as well and a battle broke loose. Before I could see the battle completely take place, Amelia let go of my hands and brought me back into reality. I was so confused by it all and needed answers. What just happened? Who were the people my parents trying to protect me from? And what were my parents?
