Chapter 8

Kenzie POV   I woke up in Travis’s arms. I smiled as I felt him shift in the bed beside me. I turned around to face him. He smiled back at me. “Good morning” I said placing my hand on his chest. “Good morning to you too” he said softly. “How did you sleep?” “I slept great” I said smiling. He leaned into me and kissed me softly. “How about some breakfast?” he asked as he lifted himself off the bed. “Do you want to go to the diner?” “I don’t have any clothes to wear. Can we stop by my apartment so I can change?” I asked, also getting out of bed. “Of course. I’m going to grab a shower. Why don’t you join me?” he said with a smirk. I nodded and followed him to the bathroom. We took a quick shower and Travis lent me a pair of sweats and a t-shirt to wear until we got to my apartment. I quickly unlocked my door and we went inside. “I’ll be just a few minutes” I said as I made my way to my bedroom. I grabbed a pair of jean shorts and a pink tank top from the closet and quickly changed. I put my hair in a ponytail and walked back out to the living room. I saw Travis sitting on my couch looking through a magazine. He looked up and smiled. “Beautiful. As always. You ready to go?” I nodded and he stood up. We walked out of my apartment and I turned to lock the door after it clicked shut behind me. As we were walking toward the elevator, Travis grabbed my hand and held it all the way to his car. I blushed and turned my head so he couldn’t see my red cheeks. He opened the door for me to climb into the passenger seat. He closed the door and jogged over to the driver side and climbed in. He started the car and pulled away, heading toward the diner. We drove in silence, but it wasn’t the awkward silence. The atmosphere in the car was comfortable. When we got to the diner, we found booth in the corner and sat down. After about a minute our waitress came over and took our order. She left and mine and Travis’s eyes met. “So, Kenzie. We don’t know a lot about each other. What do you say we change that?” “I’d like that” I smiled at him. “What is your major?” “Business. I plan on taking over my father’s company after I graduate. I only have a year left, but I am so not prepared for that responsibility yet” he chuckled. “What about you?” “Pre-med. I want to be a doctor like my mom. A pediatrician to be exact.” I thought about my mom. Oh, how I missed her. The waitress brought our food to us and we continued to ask each other questions. We talked about out families; he is an only child just like me. We talked about college, our friends, and just about anything that we could think of. We talked and laughed for about an hour and exchanged phone numbers. We left the diner and were heading back to the apartment building. When we reached my door, he grabbed my arm as I was turning the lock. “Kenzie? I had a wonderful time getting to know you” he smiled. “I did too” I smiled back. “Would you go on a date with me? Tonight?”
