The Inn

Lavender looked at Tyran with total surprise. How were they going to share a room?  They could check out the other inns or even camp out before throwing themselves in one room together.  Surely, he didn't think they'd be sleeping together. She most certainly wouldn't be taking the floor either. Lavender wanted to find lodging elsewhere but it was already decided and she was too tired to fight it by this point. As if sensing her apprehension over sharing a room, Tyran looked over and winked. Lavender crossed her arms and raised her eyebrows in disbelief.     "I take it you'll be sleeping in the floor. There's no way we're sharing a bed and I'll leave before I sleep on the floor of an inn when there's others to choose from."     "Of course.  I am nothing but a gentleman, I would never assume we'd share a bed and obviously I wouldn't make you sleep in the floor. I'll make up a bed in the floor." Lavender visibly relaxed at his words and Bridgette was staring  at the two of them. She settled her gaze on Lavender, staring daggers through her. Tyran let a small cough out to break the gaze. Bridgette shook herself and gestured to the hall over her right shoulder.     "Tyran, your room is down this hall and it's the second door on the left. Here is your key and there's stew over the fire, help yourselves." She handed Tyran the key and decided to totally ignore Lavender.     When Tyran got the key he held it up in front of his face and gave Lavender a brilliant smile.  She smirked back at him and they headed to their room to put their bags down and settle in for the night.      Their room was cozy, this normally wouldn't be a problem but there was two of them.  The bed was actually a nice size.  It could fit two comfortably, but it wouldn't.  Lavender threw her bag on it and then threw herself down.  She let out a content sigh and closed her eyes.  Tyran put his bag in a chair that was sitting by a desk in the corner of the room.  The room also had a small fireplace.  It was getting chilly at night, so Tyran knelt and started a small fire to warm the room for their night. He stood up and looked at Lavender laying on the bed. Her eyes closed and her mouth partly open.  She looked like she was letting the weight of the world go.  Her face was no longer tight or severe and her hair splayed about her head to create an almost white halo.  The fire bathed her in a warm light.  This would be a problem for him. His hands were clenching and relaxing by his side, unsure of what to do.      Lavender's eyes slowly opened and they made direct contact with Tyran.  The room felt charged.  There was an energy between them that neither of them could really understand.  It was unlike anything either of them had felt before.  The fire light up Tyran's right side and the other half of his body was caste to shadows.  He looked dark and mysterious, almost seductive. Suddenly, Lavender's stomach let a loud growl and she sat up.     "I guess we should go grab some food while it's still there. I am obviously hungry."     Tyran let a small laugh escape and agreed. Lavender got off the bed and they walked down the hallway together to the great hall of the inn. They each picked up a bowl, ladled out some stew, tore off a hunk of bread, and sat down. Tyran flagged down a serving maid and each other them got a pint of ale. The great hall was pretty full of people. Lively conversation filled the air and a few guys were playing a fun jig in the corner.  Some people were dancing and having a great time.  Lavender just wanted to eat and go to bed.  She just wanted to get the deal done and go on with her life. They ate their bland stew in silence until Tyran broke it.     "So, do you just want to stay the one night or actually take a few days to recover from your last journey before continuing on," he leaned forward and whispered, "we have enough money that we could actually stay here for a little over a year, so don't worry about that."     Lavender was caught off guard by his sincerity and her chest felt warm for some reason.  It was odd to have someone show her any concern for her well being. She had never experienced this before and she was almost relishing the moment. She flashed Tyran a genuine smile.     "I would like to stay for a few days.  Tracking down Torg was much more difficult than I originally thought it would be, and he really put up a fight.  My shins will thank you for your mercy." Her eyes were shining brightly at Tyran and he thought maybe he could tear down the walls she so carefully keeps up around her.     They finished their meal but stayed in the hall and drank for a little longer, passing time with small talk. Lavender's lips soon became numb and her face felt flush. This was no good. She never allowed herself to drink this much.  She looked at her cup only to realize that at some point her ale had been switched to wine and she was too enamored with their conversation to notice. She definitely never drank this much. Her fingertips were tingling and she looked into Tyran's eyes with a fire she didn't know she possessed.  She stood up, almost too quickly. She wobbled for a moment and then grabbed his hands to pull him up after her.     "We should dance!"
