Promises and Plays

After I woke up from my nightmare, it was about 1 am. There was still no Max, so I decided he wasn't coming. Mark and I slept in the living room the rest of the night. When I woke up the next morning, Max was waking me up. We both had late classes that day. My eyes fluttered open to see Max smiling down at me. I smiled back and stretched.
"Good morning". He smiled at me and kissed my forehead.
"Good morning... Where were you last night?" I asked, a bit confused.
"Oh yeah sorry about that. My mom kept me late and had me spend the night but I rushed over first thing this morning." He gave me a hug. "So what happened last night with you? Why did you stay here? And why was your room trashed?"
"Well, when I got back and went to my place I saw the mess and in the center of my bed was a note."
"A note? I didn't see a note"
"Well, that is because I have the note". I reached into my bag and took out the note and handed it to him. He looked it over for a second.
"Oh Sage, are you OK? Did anything else happen?"
"No I am fine, I just came over and hung out with Mads and Mark." I got up and went to the kitchen to make Max and I some cereal. "But I am worried that he is going to come back."
"Don't worry about him. Just as long as me or Mark are around, we will keep you safe from him."
"But you and Mark can't always be right next me 24/7" I said, eating my cereal.
"We will and we will do our best." He says, finishing his food and washing his dish and my dish. I was so worried, but I guess it is not going to help anything if I continue to worry. I go and change into some fresh clothes and me and Max head out to our classes for the day. We have the same class so he has kept good on his promise so far.
After class, Max waited with me until Mark came to my next class, since we had drama class together. I wonder if Max had told Mark about his plan for me to be with him or Mark 24/7.
"So did Max tell you?" I asked Mark as we took our seats in class.
"Tell me what?" He looked a bit confused. I guess he didn't tell him.
"That Max says you or him are going to be near me 24/7 in order to keep me safe from James"
"Are you serious? We can't be with you 24/7. I mean most of the time, sure its possible but not all the time."
"That is what I said but he told me no it will happen and you both will try your best."
"Well, I guess he is learning to speak for me now, huh?"
"I don't know that is just what he told me". I looked around the room.
"Its fine he is right. We will try our best. I guess that is why he wants to take fighting lessons."
"He wants to what? Take fighting lessons?"
"Yeah, he told me that this morning when he came by I was leaving when he got there before he woke you up."
"Wow, he must be really serious about all this then."
"Yeah he is serious about you." Wow, did Mark just say Max was serious about me? Wow. Class was starting and the teacher came in and said we were going to do a play. Well, two plays, she split the class into two groups, putting me and Mark in the same group. Not only that, but she chose who was going to be the main stars of each play and what type of play we were going to do. She gave us a list of romance plays to choose from. Oh, and Mark and I were the leads of our group. Woohoo joy.
