Another Kiss and D'Angelo's Fate

The door swung open and the chatter ceased. I know exactly what their thinking, but somehow Jaime had to ask it.         “Um, Jess? Why is D’Angelo tied up and laying in this room?” Jaime asked confused.         “Well, I’d like to think he magically ended up here, but you see that’s not the case. He thought it would be okay to climb into my bed, try to sweet talk me, but would not succeed. He said something stupid and then I elbowed him. I ran outside during a thunderstorm. Then he pissed me off some more, so I kicked his ass. Knocked him out, and tied him up to make sure he gets his just desserts,” I finished. I was angry, but I said it in such a sweet way it scared everyone. You could taste the venom in the air.         They could tell I was angry. Let me tell you I wasn’t just angry. I was beyond angry with D’Angelo. I wanted to kill him, but I knew if I did that I would hate myself for it. I held the urge back because now he was going to get what he deserves.         It seemed one of them had some sense. David was on the phone with Connie. Telling her I have D’Angelo here and he was tied up.          Daniel and I picked him up and we brought him down to the basement. We put him in that secret room. The one where all those women and babies lost their lives. We left him there and locked him in. Now he can’t Houdini out of the house.         We went back to the dining room and everyone sat around with coffee.          “Jessie, you probably go get changed,” David suggested. I looked down at my outfit and realized I was still in the clothes that I was soaked in and it had caked in, dried mud.          “I’ll be back,” I said. I went upstairs and jumped in the shower. I scrubbed myself until I was fully clean.          I got out and dried myself and changed into skinny jeans, and a flowy floral shirt. It had a skirt from the waist down and had puffy shoulders and the sleeves became flowy down to my fingertips. The background was a light pink color and the flowers were white. I put on my nude pumps and then went back to the dining room.         “So what are we going to do with him?” Jaime asked.         “Connie told us to keep him locked up until she got here. She’s on her way. She’ll be here in a couple hours,” David reported.         “Well I guess I’ll go get coffee and breakfast ready,” I said. I got up and went into the kitchen. I made pancakes and bacon. Don’t get mad, but I don’t like bacon. But I made it for everyone else, because they love bacon. I stare into the bowl as I’m mixing the pancake batter.         I felt numb for some reason. I can’t believe we caught him, or I did. I have been waiting for the day he would come back and we would fight. I didn’t think it would be this easy. The rage still boiled within me about him, but I kept it calm because of what would conspire later.         Breakfast was relatively quiet. I think we were all just shocked about this. The silence was not bad, but it still felt a little unnerving. It was like this for the rest of breakfast, during cleanup and waiting for Connie.         The doorbell rang. David went and brought Connie into the dining room, but she stood in the room. She was wearing a plain black pantsuit with a white button up shirt. Her hazel colored hair is in a tight bun, and she wore mascara and red lipstick.         “Take me to him,” she ordered. I got up silently and she and David followed me to the basement to the secret room. I turned both candelabras upside down. The little light that could reach in here showed D’Angelo laying on the floor. It was such a sad sight, but I didn’t feel bad.         “I need the account of how he became this way,” Connie ordered.         “I was asleep and woke to someone laying behind me. He spoke immediately and realized it was him. He had me kind of pinned and he talked to me. The more he spoke his nonsense to me the more angry I became. Finally he said something that struck an extremely sensitive cord. I elbowed him hard and ran outside in the rain. He should have realized I have trained to fight and I would take him down. The asshole was going to try again,” I said with disgust. David became stiff because he knew what I was talking about.         “Did he fight back?” Connie asked. I had to think about that.         “No,” I said.         “Then why did you beat him up?” She asked, sounding upset. I stared at her incredulously.         “You have no idea what he has done to me personally.”         “Should I?” She asked.         “Yeah. People have lost their lives due to him and people who are connected to me. Because of him I had to suffer a pain worse than death. You have no idea what happened before we met for the first time I can actually remember.”         “Jessica, right now we are worrying about him,” she said. David had to wrap his arms around me. He had to hold me tight against him. He knew what I would have done if he didn’t.         “The council is gathering and I need to get him there on time.”         “I have to go with you.”         “No Jessica. You can’t just jump into a council meeting in verdict-,” but I cut her off.         “I can when I am a witness and a victim to more of his crimes you don’t know about,” I said. She stared at me with wide eyes.         “I don’t get it, but you are right. The council however is really sensitive when it comes to right now. They may not even want to hear what you have to say,” she said.         “I don’t care. They need to hear what I have to say. And after the incident with Richard, they owe me that much. If it weren’t for me they would not have been able to arrest him,” I said. She sighed. She knew I was right. Doesn’t make it any easier for her. “It’ll also be easier if we portal him there anyway,” I said with a mischievous grin. She eyed me nervously about that suggestion.          “Okay,” she said tightly. I know she is not happy about this, but I have to go. Not for the reasons you may be thinking. “I have to make a phone call,” she said. Her heels clicked on the concrete as she made her way upstairs. David who still had his arms around me laid his cheek on top of my head. He held me not so tightly and moved his arms so he’s not restraining me. His hands slowly made there way down my arms and interlocked with my fingers. Then he crossed mine and his feeling like I was hugging myself and he was hugging me. I relaxed against him.          “Seriously? You have to get all lovey dovey in front of me?” D’Angelo complained.          “Shut up, asshole,” I said. With whatever confidence I had I untucked our fingers and I turned around. Maybe it’s the fact I wanted to show D’Angelo that he would never be able to have me. I wrapped my arms around David’s neck. David wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me impossibly close.         I know I had kissed Jeremy, but With David I felt that I needed to kiss him. His lips looked soft and inviting to me.         David brought his mouth close to mine and his breath mingling with mine. At the moment I couldn’t help myself. I stood on my toes reaching up and kissing his soft luscious lips. It shocked him because he became stiff, but then he pressed his lips against mine. We moved our lips into a wonderful kiss. I felt these little sparks here and there.         I heard D’Angelo groan from seeing us kiss. I just didn’t react because I didn’t want David to think I only kissed him to torture his brother, because I really did want to kiss him and I don’t regret it.          When we finally pulled apart I wrapped my arms around him as he leaned forward and pulled me into a hug.          It was silent for a bit until the opening of the door and we slowly pulled away from each other. Connie came into view as her heels clacked on the concrete.          “I called them and let them know. The gathering will be in a half hour.”         “Good. We are going to portal out at that time. I do need to coordinates so I can portal us right into the meeting. Before you protest it has to be this way.” Connie shut her mouth as she was going to protest. She nodded.         It was a long half hour. We were prepping to leave and I talked to Connie a bit.          Then I created the portal and we portalled right into the meeting hall. They seemed a little surprised at that, but they looked at me with one conflicting emotion. Anger.          The menacing air around us was very uncomfortable.         There were about seven members on the council. The man I saw on the computer and my grandmother plus five others. Two other women and three other men.         One woman had long, straight, jet black hair and dark brown eyes. Her skin was tan. She had a small face. Her eyebrows and lips were thin and she had a pointed nose. She had chubby cheeks as well. Her eyes glared at me.         The second woman had vibrant red hair and hazel eyes. Her face was oval shaped and littered with freckles. Her red eyebrows were a little thicker than the other woman. She had thin lips and had high cheekbones. She looks a lot like the actress that plays Jean Grey in the X-Men movies. Just with a ton of freckles covering her face. She looked pretty tall. She was openly glaring at me. I also have to mention that I can’t see their clothing because they are wearing velvety green robes with hoods.          One man is bald and has a pale face. A round nose, thick eyebrows, and glaring light brown eyes. He looked very brooding and he definitely looked strong. Another one of the men had long brown hair and golden, yellow eyes. He had high cheekbones and a thin top lip, but plump bottom lip. He had a long pointed nose. He was openly glaring at me.          I glared at them all with determination. Connie and I dropped D’Angelo on the floor with an oomph noise. Their eyes turned to him.         “Connie tells us that he is personally connected to you?” the redheaded woman asked.         “That’s true,” I said clasping my hands behind my back.         “Why is this coming forward last minute?” She asked me. I looked at them incredulously. Really? That’s what they ask me?         “What do you mean?” I asked.         “Why haven’t we been told this information and why haven’t you sent a formal complaint to us?” The brooding man asked.         “That’s the question you ask me? After I capture the man who is highly wanted, might I add? For most of my life I never thought a different world lived in my own and this fucker shows up and ruins my life. I find out the hard way things go and you go and accuse me of not sending in a formal complaint?” I laughed humorlessly. “I’m guessing you know about the prophecy right?” I asked them.         “What prophecy? All we know is that you are an abomination. A creation between the accursed Witches and us Hunters.” My eyebrows raised at the blackhaired girl. A sadistic laugh broke the tension between us.         “You have no idea that she is the most powerful out of you all. She has the power to lift you all up and yet you call her an abomination.” He chuckled some more before he continued. “Pathetic. She is here to help you all and yet you turn her away. We need to change. We needed it for a long time. Yet you will not listen to her. Your hate is too strong,” he laughed maniacally. That's when it clicked. I remember hearing something from dad. A long time ago Witches and Hunters went to war with each other. They lost on each side, so they decided to make sure witches and hunters never crossed paths. That's why hunters born after the war were never told about witches. Though the witches were told about hunters. I’m not going to go into more detail about it, but it seems the council is still holding much anger towards them.         “I hate to say it, but he’s right,” I said and they looked at me shocked. “You guys don’t know about the prophecy, but you need to let it go. Witches can be your biggest ally if you can. No matter who started the war. No matter who ended it and what agreements were made. It’s been three hundred years since then. Things change around you and yet you refuse to change the way things are, but even if you tried you won’t get anywhere. That’s why I was born into this world the way I am. Change is coming and no matter what you can’t fight it. And I’ll tell you a little story, which is also going to convict him of more crimes,” I said.          No one protested. So I told them about my life. How I lived without my powers. How my life turned out. No one said a single word and everyone remained frozen during my two hour long story. I had to cut it because nobody would want to sit here for twelve hours listening to me talk.          When I finished there was a long silence. A very long silence. Then I saw it. Everyone was sitting there processing all the important information I had given them.  They all looked at me wide eyed. Then they looked at D’Angelo who seemed content in whatever his fate.          “Jessica, we thank you for sharing your story with us. We had a verdict waiting for him when he was caught, but your story changes his fate and he knows exactly what the penalty is for killing humans, and two witches as well. D’Angelo will be sentenced to death by guillotine. His death will be decided on a later date.” Men came in and were trying to get the ropes off of him, but I had to remove them. I untied him and uncharted the rope.         “Jessie, Do you want to attend his execution?” The buff looking man asked me. He was the one from the computer.         “No, I’ve seen enough death. And as much as I would like to see it I just don’t feel right watching him die,” I said. They nodded.         “With the current situation and your certificate of birth, we will let this go and you will be registered as Hunter. Being accepted means you will follow our orders under the law. I also wanted to know if you would like to be called upon to go on a mission as needed.” He said more than asked me.         “I can handle that,” I said. “But there is something you should know.” Their eyes stared into me.         “With me being part witch it will be inevitable that they will also accept me. I need you to know that and the fact that it will be inevitable to face the Witches council minus one actually,” Nobody answered, but I knew it would be inevitable. Things will be taking a different route.
