Here's another warning. There is another suicide attempt.
I just couldn’t believe what happened. Maybe I just didn’t want to believe it. But the fact is Johnny hit me. He physically punched me hard on the left side of my face. I flew into the metal grate around the porch. My right side hit one of the posts and my body hit the fencing. I think I might have broken a rib.
My face hurts and my torso hurts. I could not move for a moment, but I stood up looking at Johnny. He looked at me shocked. Hurt was probably showing on my face.
“I’m sorry, Jessica. I didn’t mean to hurt you,” he said coming toward me. I had dropped the shall and my makeup was probably a mess, but I maneuvered around him and ran into the house. Slamming the door in his face. I ran upstairs feeling the pain and Locked myself in my room.
I grabbed a bag and filled it with bottles of wine I stocked in my room. Johnny was banging on my door. I picked up the skeleton key I had gotten from David. He told me I would have access to the tower and the guest house. I slid open my window quietly.
“Jessica, I will break down this door if you don’t come out.” I jumped out the window and landed on my feet with ease. I ran towards the guest house. I unlocked the door, ran in and locked it again. I put up a barrier so no one can hear me inside the house.
Tears rushed out of my eyes as soon as the barrier was up. I made my way up to the bedroom I stayed in when I was pregnant. I sat on the floor, pulled a bottle of wine out. I uncorked it and took a big pull from the bottle. My cheeks hurt bad, but the pain in my heart hurt worse. I was struck by one of the people I was supposed to trust.
I would rather be struck again by D’Angelo than it be by Johnny. The tears kept streaming down my face as I kept drinking and drinking.
Within the hour I was done the first bottle. I opened the other bottle and started drinking from that. I didn’t grab my phone or any sort of entertainment, so I was left with my tears, my drink, and my thoughts.
I couldn’t deal with them either. After the third bottle I broke the bottom half of the bottle and started cutting my arms with it. But with each cut they would heal. I dealt with the pain.
“Why can’t I die? Why can’t I just f*****g die?” I cried out. I didn’t sleep. I couldn’t sleep that entire night.
By the way we can’t die of alcohol poisoning, because as soon as we hit a certain point the alcohol somehow makes it through our system. Don’t know why.
I heard Johnny looking for me for a while. But at two in the morning he gave up and went to bed. I wasn’t able to sleep and by morning my face and torso still hurt. I had stopped at six bottles of wine and I was still a little drunk, but I was starting to sober up.
I would now have to face the fact that I could never trust Johnny again. I could never want to look at his face again. My eyes could no longer leak tears, so I had been crying dry. My sniffles and noises that I made were a cause of concern for me. I should get water and hydrate, but I didn’t have the strength to move. I was still on the floor. I kicked off my shoes and was slumped forward just trying to feel numb.
It wasn’t working though.
“Jessie, where are you?” Jaime asked through our link.
“Just leave me alone,” I grumbled.
“Are you drunk?” She asked.
“No, and I don’t want to talk about anything. I just want everyone to leave me alone,” I cried. I blocked her after that.
I wallowed in my pain and picked up another bottle. I opened it and started drinking again.
“Johnny, what happened to Jessie? I reached through the link, but she won’t say anything,” She said.
“I don’t know,” he said. What a liar.
“Johnny I can feel where she is, and I also feel that she is in pain both physically and mentally. What did you do to my sister?” She seethed as she asked Johnny again.
“What’s going on?” David asked.
“I’m asking what Johnny did to Jessica. He’s telling me he doesn’t know, but he was the only one with her until this morning,” she explained.
“I remember her saying they had a date last night. What happened? Did she get hurt?” Daniel butted in.
“I don’t know. We got home and then we went our separate way,” Johnny lied.
“Then why is the iron work on the porch broken when we got here?” Charlie asked this time. He sounded as if he knew what he did.
“I don’t know what you talking about,” Johnny lied again.
“Johnny, I am not going to ask again. You tell me the truth and maybe they would go easy on your ass,” Charlie said. More like hissed at Johnny.
“What do you mean Charlie?” Jeremy asked. “And why is the iron banister broken in one spot?” He asked again.
“You need to ask Johnny. He knows what happened,” Charlie accused Johnny. I listened as the banter got worse and I could hear Jaime yelling at the bastard to tell them the truth. She sounded out of breath, which meant someone was holding her back.
“Hey guys, what’s going on back here,” Damien asked.
“Why don’t you ask your son? Or better yet beat it out of him,” Jaime suggested.
“Jaime calm down,” Dad said. “Where’s Jessica?” He asked.
“She’s in the guest house,” she said. “But I don’t like the feeling I’m getting from her, dad. She’s hurting both physically and mentally,” she said.
If you are wondering, yes I can hear them outside. My super hearing comes in handy for times like this. I’m just sitting here drinking away trying for the numb feeling again.
“Also, I think she’s drunk,” Jaime said. It didn’t bother me.
“Anything else?” He asked.
“Yeah, she put a barrier around the house. We won’t be able to enter unless she lets us,” Jaime said. It was silent for a while. It has me worried. So I crawled to the window and looked outside. Everyone was gathered in the middle of the yard. They looked hard in thought. I crawled back and got onto the bed.
“Jessie,” I heard uncle Josh call. “I know you want to be alone right now, but you should at least let one of us in,” he said.
“Just leave me alone,” I cried to Jaime. I heard Jaime sigh.
“She said she wants to be left alone. Jessica, we won’t leave you alone. I can’t help but worry about you. You were doing so well and getting better, and now your back to hiding, crying, and drinking your sorrows. Just like…” but she never finished.
“YOU BASTARD!!!!” I heard her yell. “Let me go,” I heard her whine.
“No you were going to attack him,” David said.
“I was because this asshole hurt her,” It was silent for a moment. Then she uttered the words. “Physically,” I heard yelling and people stopping each other from attacking Johnny. I knew they were going to hurt him.
“You laid your hands on my daughter?” I heard anger for the first time coming from dad. “You physically hurt my child?” He asked angrily. I could see it now. Dad using an element to hang Johnny upside down for hurting me. I felt hot tears run down my face.
“Jaime, tell dad I’ll let him in,” I told her.
“Dad, Jessie is going to let you in,” I heard her quickly tell him. I stumbled down the stairs and unlocked the door. The barrier will still hold, but I’ll will it to let dad in. I stumbled back up to the bed willing my dad to come through the door.
“Jessie,” I heard after the door opened and closed. My cheeks hurt badly, but I knocked on the wall. I heard running and then dad was standing in the doorway. He looked at me with wide eyes.
“Oh lord. My baby girl,” he cried. He moved in front of me touching my cheeks and I winced. “Your cheeks are swollen, baby girl,” he said. “We’re going to need some serious ice for your face, baby girl,” he said. He looked pained just looking at me. “I’ll be right back.” He left and went downstairs and opened the door.
“Jaime I need you to get me two big bags of any kind of frozen vegetables. Her cheeks are swollen. She looks kind of like a chipmunk. I need them asap. I don’t know how long she has been like that,” he said. Jaime ran off the porch towards the house. A few minutes later I heard her run back up and handed him the frozen veggies.
He ran back up the stairs and back into this room.
“It’s going to hurt a bit, baby girl,” He said. I was just happy at the fact that he called me his baby girl.
“Jaime, I’m allowing you to come in,” I said. I heard her rush into the door and slamming it.
“Where are you guys?” She asked.
“We’re up here,” dad said. She found the bedroom.
“You are right though. She does look like a chipmunk. A very sad one at that,” she said, poking my in the rib. I winced and hissed in pain.
“What happened to my baby girl?” Dad asked.
“I was arguing with Johnny about his dominating behavior. I called him a control freak, and the next thing I knew he punched me in the left side of my face. Hard. I went flying into the banister and the right side of my face hit the post, but I think I must have either bruised, fractured, or broken a rib or two. He tried to apologize, but I think something just finally clicked, which is why I ended up here crying and drinking all night. I haven’t even slept,” I said to Jaime. She relayed it to dad, but I could see that she was angry and ready to cut Johnny up into bite sized pieces and feed him to a shark.
“That’s why you didn’t heal, plus add the alcohol and that slows it down too,” Jaime said.
“but , um, last night, I uh, I uh, I tried cutting myself with a wine bottle, but I healed just fine,” I said reluctantly. Jaime looked like she was about to cry.
“You what? You tried killing yourself again?” She asked me. Pain filled her voice. Dad looked surprised, but he didn’t add anything painful.
“I’m just glad she didn’t succeed. But why didn’t her injuries heal like all the other Hunters injuries do?”
“Jessie? Let us bring in Jeremy. He will know why you are not healing properly,” Jaime said. I nodded my head. In minutes she left and came back with Jeremy. He looked very concerned. He had his, to go, doctor bag. He instantly was at my side.
“What happened to her?” He asked and Jaime repeated what I had told her earlier. To say Jeremy wasn’t even shocked.
“Not surprising. I heard from Charlie What he has done to his ex girlfriends. From what I heard is that he has laid his hands on them too. It’s the reason why they left him. What shocks me is that I thought he changed with Jessica, but I was wrong. Jessica? We need to get you to a hospital. You need x-rays done to see why you're not healing,” Jeremy said gently. I didn’t want to go, but with everyone's pleading eyes I nodded my head.
“Let me go get her different clothes. It’s cold out right now,” she said running out the door.
“She seems fine to me. It’s really cold in here too,” My eyes landed on the empty bottles on the floor. They followed my gaze and then wide eyes stared at me again.
“Well, that seems to be the reason why she isn’t cold,” Jeremy said. Jaime came back a few minutes later with sweats and my bear paws in her arms. They helped me change from the dress into my gray workout pants, white, wide strapped tank top, and black zip up hoodie. Jaime put on my boots and then we were off to the hospital. I hung onto dad as we made our way out of the house and into the car.
We passed the group, but I didn’t even want to make eye contact with Johnny. We made it to the car and made our way to the hospital.
I wouldn’t let go of dad as we went to the hospital. But Jeremy made me drink water. He had a big bottle and told me I had to drink it.
I didn’t fight him on it and was drinking it the whole way to the hospital. We got to the hospital and we made our way inside. The person at the desk buzzed for a nurse immediately after seeing my face.
“I need someone to stay behind and check her in,” Jaime had my purse and knew all of my info. She stayed behind to check me in. And the nurse showed up, putting me in a wheelchair. I gladly accepted it.
She wheeled into the room with a gurney bed. Dad and Jeremy lifted me up and helped me lay on the bed.
“The Doctor will be in with you soon as he can,” the nurse said after taking my blood pressure and asking me questions. Which at the moment I really couldn’t answer.
We were left in silence. Dad sat on the bed to my right, combing his fingers to his left hand through my hair. Jaime had taken the bun out before we left. I just laid there letting dad do that.
It was a half hour before a handsome male doctor appeared in the room. He wore gray scrubs, sneakers, and the doctor's white coat.
He had dark brown hair cut short and brown eyes.
“Can anyone tell me what happened here?” The doctor asked coming close to me touching my cheek only for me to wince.
“From what I gathered she was attacked. Unfortunately she couldn’t see her assailant,” Jeremy said.
“Is this true?” The doctor asked me. I nodded my head.
“Her cheeks are so swollen that she can’t speak,” Jeremy spoke up.
“Thank you Dr. White,” The doctor said sarcastically. “Okay well I’ll put in for X-rays down for her her cheeks,” He said.
“She also has pain in her torso by her ribs,” Jeremy said.
“Thank you,” he said sarcastically. He left.
“Wow, he must hate Jeremy,” I said to Jaime. She chuckled.
“That was pretty interesting. He must not like you Jeremy,” Jaime said.
“He’s a new doctor. Pretty cocky guy, so I made it point for him that he’s not all that. So now he hates me, but I don’t care. Your new and you don’t just walk in here thinking you the best when your career hasn’t really started,” he spat.
We talked waiting for me to get wheeled down into X-ray. I kept dozing off. But dad kept me awake, as I kept dozing off. We were waiting for about two hours before he came back with a nurse to wheel me down.
I was put in a hospital gown and then they did their thing and wheeled me back down to my room.
Then we played another waiting game. So I’m the meantime we talked or I thought and Jaime would talked for me. Then we would be silent and then I’d try to fall asleep. But then I would be brought back as dad would shake me.
Then the doctor came back with my scans.
“So miss Jessica, you have two bruised ribs and the swelling in your cheeks won’t go down because your teeth are cutting into your cheeks,” he said. He hung the pictures over this light thingy and turned off the light.
He was showing us what was going on, but now I was completely sober and all I wanted to do was sleep. So I didn’t hear a single word he said.
My eyes kept dropping so dad sat me up but it didn’t help. If I was standing I would still be able to fall asleep. Then I felt the doctor shoving something in my mouth. It hurt , but for some reason my lack of sleep caused my brain not to acknowledge it.
I can’t remember anything else he did, because I was so out of it. The doctor was explaining everything to dad.
“Hey, are you okay,” Jaime asked.
“Just peachy. I need to go to bed now,” I said. She chuckled.
“That's what you get for not sleeping at all last night,” she teased.
“Not like I had a choice. I just couldn’t deal with what happened. I have my breaking point and it seemed last night was it. After Johnny hit me, I realized that I had felt safe and with him around I don’t anymore. I’m not like you Jaime. I don’t just throw punches because I’m pissed off, but I know I handled the situation poorly. I didn't know how I should react other than running and hiding. I also realized that my fear was justified. I’m scared to fall in love and Johnny just did something that justified it. How am I supposed to react to this fact? How am I supposed to face them? My fear is holding me back. How am I supposed to let it go?” It was silent on her end. I was scared to go back home. To face everyone with this fear plaguing my heart.
The doctor discharged me, and we left the hospital. We had been there half the day so it’s about one in the afternoon.
“Dad, I don’t think Jesse should stay in the house. At least for a bit. She needs time for herself right now,” Jaime spoke up. I think she was thinking about this since our little chat.
It was dead silent on the car, but dad sighed.
“I was thinking the same thing. She needs to be away from the house for a while. Perhaps a month would do.” It was silent, but I could tell Jeremy didn’t like the idea and neither did I. I’m not going to run away from this problem. I can’t keep running away from my problems.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. I shouldn’t be running away from this problem and I must overcome the fear of being around him. I have no reason to be afraid anyway. If he tries again I will kick his ass,” Jaime related what I said. Jeremy smiled. Dad didn’t seem happy about it. I think it’s because he still sees me as a child. Also after this morning I know he doesn’t want to see me like that again.
“Stay strong,” Jeremy whispered. We got home and immediately I’m brought to my room. Dad apologized to Daniel, since it’s his day, that right now nobody but family is able to see me right now.
So, apparently not only did I have swelling on the outside of my cheeks, but also the inside. Don’t know how that happened, but to keep my teeth from digging and scraping the inside they put an upper and lower mouth guard over my teeth. Daniel brought up ice packs for my face. He grimaced my way and left.
