When they brought me back, the room wasn’t the same.
The chains were still there.
The walls were still cold.
But the other girl—
was gone.
I noticed it immediately.
The space where she had been sitting felt too empty. Too quiet. Like she had never been there in the first place.
My chest tightened.
“Where is she?” I asked before I could stop myself.
No one answered.
