Chapter 30

1005 Words

Adelaide’s POV The moment Cyrus disappeared, a sharp pain stabbed through my chest, like an invisible force had ripped something away from me. My body felt cold and empty—like a part of me had gone missing. I clenched my fists against the ground, my nails digging into the dirt as sobs wracked my body. "Cyrus..." I whispered, my voice breaking. He had just returned to me. I had just held him in my arms, felt his warmth, heard his voice again—and now, he was gone. What if I never saw him again? What if he didn’t come back this time? My body trembled at the thought, my heart hammering with fear. Eleanor and Atlas stood beside me, silent at first. Then Eleanor crouched down, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. "He’s strong," she said, her voice soft. "He’s not going to die so easily."
