Cyrus's sarcastic smile spread across his face as he said, "Do you miss me?" the moment I called his name. I was shocked - he was alive! But I distinctly remembered Alpha Gael stabbing him and claiming he was dead. The contradiction sent my mind reeling. Had Alpha Gael lied to me?
Regret washed over me. From the moment I met Cyrus, I had unknowingly courted trouble. Letting him get close had been a mistake, one I deeply regretted. Although the water was icy cold, I knew my trembling had nothing to do with it - it was Cyrus's presence that had me shaking.
I silently prayed, "God, if you help me get through this, I'll be forever grateful. Please keep my baby and me safe from this monster. Help me escape and never see Cyrus again, so I can find peace once more."
